Hi Les, very good video. I had some questions about point cloud data collection - did you use a Lidar to collect it? And, if yes how did you colourise the point cloud? Thanks and look forward to your help.

Great video Les, very user friendly.. I am just starting with CloudCompare so any info would be greatly appreciated... Would this procedure also work with a .ply file? Are there benefits to using one over the other (.ply vs .las)? Also one other concern I have. Ultimately I would like to take the geo referenced point cloud and move it into another software, such as (ArcGIS). Will the file retain the geo properties? Do I have to save it as a separate file again? Thanks a lot!

I know this was a very long time ago but did you find a solution to transfering a point cloud from cloud compare to arc gis pro?

@@tillyd QGIS (the open source version of ArcGIS) only accepts point clouds in .las form (so not .ply), so I assume that the same is true for ArcGIS. So in CloudCompare you just have to make sure to save your file in .las format, and then in ArcGIS choose to add a point cloud layer. There's no specific "transfering" that needs to happen beyond that.
