How digestive bitters can help improve your gut.

When it comes to gut health, little has as big of an effect as digestion. It comes down to the foods we eat, if we're chewing properly, taking our time, and if our gut is "prepared" to eat food.
It used to be that home cooked meals were the norm. The scents wafting out of the kitchen would signal our bodies that food was on the way and it's time to get your digestion on. Sadly, that's not often the case anymore. In the world of takeout and busy lives, it's not often that most of us sit down to a long meal and our guts pay the price.
This week we're looking at digestive bitters. If you're unfamiliar with them, you're not alone. These aren't exactly your cocktail bitters, though in reality they're not so different. This are bitter herbs in a liquid tincture specifically formulated to help kick start our digestion before eat. They're a great, easy way to help alleviate digestive discomfort and help us get the most our of our food.

Such an easy way to promote better digestion in our bodies. You get past the taste the first time, especially when you see how they work.

I have IBS-C, but also suffer from Pernicious anemia (hence low stomach acid). I am on an RX for my IBS, but would really prefer something natural. Which bitters should I try?

I have cured my IBS with use of essential oils from Wild Oregano and Mentha. I put in a tablespoon a bit of olive oil and then 2 drops of each essentials, use toothpick to mix it all up and consume after meal. My IBS was gone in a week.

It is difficult to find a non-alcohol bitter extract. If you find a glycerite bitter extract, would the glycerine, which is sweet negate the bitter taste/effect of the bitters?

part of how bitters work is the actual bitter taste that stimulates your own enzymes so negating that lessens the benefits..
