A common challenge when buying tires is understanding the types of tires and which will work best for you. The easiest way to group tires is to start with your vehicle type. After determining which tire types are possibilities for your vehicle, you can determine which type is best for you based on your driving needs.
How to Choose the Right Tires Like a Pro: You probably wouldn’t buy the first car, so why would you buy the first set of tires? Being picky can pay off when it's time to buy new tires. At Tires Plus, we’re here to help you understand the tire shopping process and choose the right tire at the right price. Follow along as we explain how to select the best tires for your vehicle, lifestyle, and budget!
Step 1: Figure out your tire size.: Tires come in different sizes, and it’s not as simple as small, medium, and large. Your tire size is a number from 13 to 22. That number tells you the wheel diameter in inches. There are a few different ways you can find out your tire size.
Step 2: Compare tire types. Choose the one that’s best for you.
There are a lot of different types of tires on the market. This is the part of tire shopping that can overwhelm some shoppers. Don’t let it! Check out this quick rundown of the various types available for most cars, trucks, minivans, crossovers, and SUVs. Every type has pros and cons, so it’s all about choosing the tire that works best for your lifestyle, environment, and priorities.
Step 3: Determine your tire budget. Once you know the tire size and type you want, consider your budget for buying tires. Just like everything else, there is a wide range of prices. So what’s the appropriate amount to spend? There's no right or wrong answer to this question. It depends on the driver and the car! Our best advice is to remember that tires are an investment and an invaluable one at that. Your tires are the only part of your car that comes into contact with the road. Without quality tires, your car can't drive safely or smoothly.

Low profile tires give better handling in corners because the tire doesn't deform much. It's then possible to attack corners with higher speed compare to high profile.

It's not just about the deformity. Americans please. School is good. It's about the center of gravity it creates for the vehicle.

May I add few points I think where missing? All season tires have really poor performance under rain/ in wet conditions. Winter tires have several subcategories missing: Nordic (suitable for really cold weather), studded (best ice grip), European (for milder winter), friction or studless (suitable for driving on compacted snow but not optimal for icy roads). 😊

Why do tires develop dry rot and still have plenty thread left and do not give but about half what is advertised the mileage rating advertised they say you should get? I bought the scorpion Pirelli tires that were on the car and rotate tires regularly and drive speed limits and yet I only am getting around 35,000 miles before dry rot is occurring. They are not cheap but I think they were advertised to get almost twice the road amount of road life but no where near what I am getting and they need replacing already? I am an average driver and still have under 100,000 miles on my Lincoln MXX. Why does this happen? This is now the third set I will now need to replace and I get alignments when called for and check tire pressure regularly. I live in Texas. The tires otherwise have been great but WHY am I not getting the range they advertise? Thanks.
