How Did The Most Popular Roblox Genre Decline So Fast?

Ойын-сауық

The Horror Genre has been a popular staple on Roblox since its origin. Yet over the years, even though the games have gotten better, the genre has been pushed to the backburners and is rarely talked about or enjoyed by players. So here I discuss why this may have happened and how.

After seeing a lot of horror games, I gotta say the replayability is probably crucial because if I play some random game, then i start playing it, then it says that it wants you to get to a specific checkpoint. Gotta have another point to the game other than just go through 100 rooms. If ya wanna get popular then you need people to play your game. I'm not gonna play it again unless I had a really good time. You gotta have some secrets, easter eggs, things you could come back to. Have pieces of lore, include more endings, letting you choose and pick your decisions. Like in SCP: CB, It includes tons of easter eggs and secret mediocre items that seem to have no use and your decision to do what you want to do. Variations of endings based on your decisions. Secret doors can be unlocked with a severed hand (HCZ only from what i know so far) It doesn't force you to go after certain points of the game. That's the recipe for a masterpiece. All because you get to do whatever.

A good horror game on roblox now is like seeing a blue basketball. Very rare, but you can still come across some. Doors and Apeirophobia are obvious examples, but 2 of my favorites are Residence Massacre and Lost Rooms, 2 pretty unique concepts (well, RM got copied by the more bootleg but somehow more popular Wierd Strict Dad, god I despise that game)

Another reason why it's hard to find good horror games is because They often have a lot of dislikes (mostly from children that get scared) even if they are well made, which makes it so that the algorithm does not reccomend them to more players because of the like-dislike ratio. So they often get stuck with just 200-300 players on average.

Look at Find The Ducks, or Find The Bricks for example. Or, Find The Cubes maybe. It's funny that Roblox has specific genres or game types that peaked during its infancy and 'Old era' (or the early to mid 2010s if you will) but some of them faze out during the late 2010s and 2020s. In addition, I don't if anyone said this before, the way people talk about new Roblox is like night and day; they talk about how newer Roblox is so much better than the old Roblox in many ways BUT also talk about how the platform is corporate, games copying the success of successful games, flashy "simulators", mediocre games being the forefront, and so on. Also the microtransactions within most games nowadays remind me of gamepasses, a feature that also seems to faze out, since you can just buy it and don't have to pay it again (if you were on a current account).

You missed another banger: Barnstars. Yes, it is a fnaf type game, but you have alot of freedom because it's free-roam (you can go anywhere you want with essentialy no limits) which allows for many playstyles. You can sit in the office, check the cam's, etc. or you can play a more risky style by sneaking around and completing the objectives the game offers, which while simple are quite challenging with the threat of the animatronics. Speaking of, the animatronics are genuinly terrifying. The best part is you can play with friends or strangers, so you have an extra eye to watch your back and somebody to get scared with. :) In my opinion fnaf-style horror games aren't that bad as long as they offer something new and engaging.

I have a point to one of reasons why the genre died, the lack of multiplayer count, too many horror games replicate the lobby formula, where you stand in a hub and go into a lobby of max 4 players, which is a dead boring approach, if especially all players left. Horror games thrive when the experience is shared, how do you share an experience you're alone in? Dead by Daylight Is an example of a game not following the same formula, though you may call that "lobby", I wasn't sure what else to call it, but anyways the games like Door is what I call a Lobby Horror.

I agree with a lot of this, but one of the main issues has to be roblox changing game discovery. Most of the good horror games on roblox don't contain many gamepasses or products for users to purchase with robux. Because of this, roblox doesn't make as much money off the game, and won't show it as often. Combine that with roblox making sponsorships not work at all, and roblox's ad system allowing for any big brand to just spend tens of thousands of dollars, beating out the competition of a small developer, good horror games simply can't be found.

We're getting scared in the game means that our instincts are getting tricked, not wanting to go through the same process even if we still live.

Well over the years, players expectation grew extremely fast, the newer games feels like the same but more optimised, there might be some good hits but it will decline really fast, most of the horror games has the same mechanics, other than that lets talk about horror games outside roblox, roblox is a game platform with tons of games, when a player gets interested in a genre, they might go outside of roblox to explore for games of that genre, in my opinion there are tons of horror games outside of roblox that has better mechanics, story and basically better everything than roblox horror could offer, another note to add is that roblox horror games from the past looked goofier but still gave the creeps, that was peak fun too, is nothing special but is funny and fun to play, making it unique and nice to play with friends and siblings, if people want to make a horror game on roblox and making things scarier they might as well make that game outside of roblox otherwise it would feel out of place, roblox is a kids game too, so by making things scarier, it might keep away the younger audience, while the older games didn't scare them away since it had that blocky feeling.

**The Heat Death of the Universe: Entropy's Inevitable Embrace** The heat death of the universe, also known as the "big freeze" or the "entropy death," is a concept in cosmology that explores the ultimate fate of our vast and dynamic cosmos. It is a profound theory that presents a sobering picture of the universe's eventual demise, governed by the relentless march of entropy. As we delve into this concept, we will examine the origins of the idea, the role of entropy, the implications for the future, and the philosophical insights it offers. The concept of the heat death of the universe originates from the second law of thermodynamics, which states that in any isolated system, entropy, a measure of disorder or randomness, tends to increase over time. This law has profound implications for the universe as a whole. Entropy's tendency to increase implies that energy gradients, which power processes and create order, will eventually be smoothed out, leading to a state of maximum entropy, where no more useful work can be extracted. This idea was first explored by Lord Kelvin in the 19th century, who predicted that if the universe were a closed system, it would eventually reach a state of thermal equilibrium, where all matter and energy are evenly distributed. Entropy plays a pivotal role in the progression towards the heat death of the universe. As stars burn their fuel and release energy, they contribute to the increase in entropy. Even though stars are temporary pockets of lower entropy, their actions lead to an overall rise in disorder. Eventually, all stars will exhaust their fuel and die out, galaxies will drift apart due to the expansion of the universe, and all that will remain are black holes, neutron stars, and cold particles. The universe will become a sea of particles at a uniform temperature, with no regions of varying energy to sustain any form of activity. The implications of the heat death theory are far-reaching. One of the most striking consequences is the irreversible nature of this process. Once the universe has reached the state of maximum entropy, there will be no way to revert to a state of lower entropy and initiate new processes. This paints a somber picture of an eternity of darkness and inactivity, where the very concept of time loses its meaning. The heat death theory also has implications for the search for extraterrestrial life. If entropy-driven processes inevitably lead to stagnation, the emergence and sustenance of life become increasingly challenging. Philosophically, the concept of the heat death of the universe raises intriguing questions about the nature of existence, purpose, and the meaning of our actions. If all structures, achievements, and advancements will eventually succumb to the entropic tide, what significance do our endeavors hold? This existential contemplation prompts us to reevaluate our perspective on the value of the present moment, the legacy we leave behind, and the impermanent nature of all things. In conclusion, the heat death of the universe is a profound cosmological concept that stems from the inexorable increase of entropy as described by the second law of thermodynamics. It envisions a universe destined for a state of equilibrium, where all matter and energy are uniformly distributed, leading to a cold and lifeless existence. This idea challenges our understanding of time, purpose, and existence, prompting us to reflect on the transient nature of our universe and the significance of our actions within it. While the heat death theory presents a somber outlook, it also inspires awe and wonder at the complex interplay of physical laws that govern the cosmos.

I wish I could go back to Roblox but I just can't. there's no fun in it at all anymore. I grew up on it for 10 years and I could see with every year it getting worse to the point now it feels unrecognisable to old roblox. Just feels corporate and completely soulless nowadays full of the wrong kind of people

Wow! It’s like if the corporative soulless games are produced just for money. Totally not that, yep! Aga (sarcasm). But seriously though, as long as players play them and donate towards these type of games, they’ll still be up and still be soulless. And the main “players” of such money-milking games is, well, gullible children, so there is no way of reconvincing all of them. Creativity is dead in roblox and you can’t go with it anywhere, unless you go for trend/popular thing or even go for a game which is straight up designed for “whales” from the ground up with soul sucking grind (aka as the latest example - Tower Defense X (not really surprising, it was made by John, lol)).

@@johndipippo9838 I honestly won’t even bother myself to check it at all (because wow, I don’t have that much time because of a job) (nor I want to spend my time worthlessly so piece of shit of a prick John would get money for it), but my friends did tell that it’s terrible. They didn’t enjoy playing it at all. If the game screams at you with the “BUY OUR GAMEPASS FOR EXTRA EXP!” at AND “loss screen” AND “win screen”, I am sorry mate, that’s literally pushing rocks down the throat. Oh right, also not to mention the main page of the game. My brother in christ, if by just looking at main page/gamepasses of the game is pushing someone away (aka me, because I thought to at least check the game page of it) via locking A FUCKING MORTAR AND ENGINEER (2.6k robux for an engineer. Guess what I can buy with this money? A ACTUALLY GOOD TD GAME (BTD6)) (the most BASIC out of BASIC towers ever to exist) behind a robux paywall (and not to mention other gamepass towers)… This just screams at me “throw money at us”. It’s laughably bad. Yet an another game made for soulless money milking with artificially inflated grinding, so people would end up spending money to speed up the process.
