I was under the impression that the main reason the Werewolves never reached any serious organizational or logistical levels was due more to the High Command refusing to contemplate the possibility of final defeat as well as the belief that the units would not be effective in such a role to begin with rather than any real effect of the Allied bombing considering that a majority of front line forces still received equipment.
@conmancorndog2013
Жыл бұрын
Eh, not really. They weren’t very effective because, well, they’re hold-out units, they’re not supposed to be. Their entire purpose was to fight until the war is done, meaning until they’re dead, and for the handful who survive because they either fled or surrendered, things that they would hang their own troops on the trees throughout Berlin for, and then die trying to blow up anything allied. There was no hope of restoring the Nazis after the war, they just wanted to annoy the Allies by killing a handful of guys and some trucks and stuff. After all, a group of “speshully” trained over-glorified meth-heads couldn’t really of done much else.
My Great Grandpa actually found a bunch of them in Austria while he was in civilian clothing he was in a bar and he heard a bunch of them talking about fighting the allies yet they even said where the were camped out needless to say that didn't last long

In April 1945 the small town Owen was reached by US troops. An US tank fell accidently from a bridge into still today existing medieval fortification ditch. There was no more a german soldier in the small town and the incident was simply an accident on a narrow bridge, but the other tanks fired into town and destroyed a number of houses.

@@TrySomeFentanyl : I think, the tank crews feared that some fanatics tried to somehow attack them. The small town Owen is at a point, where the valley of small river Lauter becomes slowly narrower. Next to Owen is the larger village Dettingen, this village was attacked by US planes, because they notced, that here a german officer collected the in mostly small groups arriving fleeing german soldiers to a larger unit, to march through the noted valley, climb the road who goes to the plateau of Swabian Alb, and use the clifflike Northern end of plateau as resistance obstacle. German troops after surrender that are stuck in the east: *peace was never a option*
General Maurice Rose wasn't actually killed by Werwolf units, but they did mention that it was disinformation in the video. He was killed by a German Panzer unit outside of Paderborn when his motorcade was ambushed in the darkness. General Rose, much like General Gavin of the 82nd Airborne Division, tended to lead his men from the front as opposed to sitting behind a desk in a field HQ. This means that any "assassination" carried out on him would likely just be another act of battle. Though there is some controversy over whether or not his death was a war crime. Some sources say he was shot along with his aides while trying to surrender. He died on March 30th, just a month before Hitler committed suicide. Paderborn held one of Germany's main tank schools, thus it was the location of one of the final tank vs tank battles of the war in Europe. Adam Makos' book, "Spearhead" is a good source to learn about Rose's death and the subsequent Battle of Paderborn.

"Hello, my name is Ian McCollim and welcome to my backyard, as you can see, I have found a stockpile of WW2 werewolf weaponry, even about 500 hightech, for the time, sniper rifles and these 50 cases of surprised pistols and a few explosives, let's just bring the camera over and show you them individually."
Big fan! Particularly loved what you did at the end of this video with the Lynxes, Leopards, and Cobra mentions. I’d like to know if you could do a video on ‘How did NATO respond to the US loss in Vietnam’. I always heard Vietnam and Southeast Asia was critical to Domino theory and that after the fall of Saigon the US entered into Detente with the USSR, but never got an understanding of the NATO perspective on these developments. Thanks!
I've been waiting for a while for SH to make a video on this topic
I remember when I was watching one of the last episodes of Band of Brothers and Spiers, who was the next CO of Easy Company after Winters, was saying that there was resistance of German soldiers continuing to fight a guerrilla war against the Allies

They still keep finding those weapons caches. Ian McCollum has a video on Forgotten Weapons called "A Well Travelled Luger" in which he shows, among other things, that the Luger was found in one of those caches that got found accidentally not that long ago. It's worth your time to watch if you have 10 minutes to spare.
Thank you for video sir 💐💐💐👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

A lot of the NSDAP guys have their own hobby projects. The problem with a dictatorship is that you can't tell people what to do a lot of the time. It's a series of competing fiefs.

In the eighties in the U.K. a Soviet Special Forces weapons dump was found at a place called Thetford Forrest, not far from RAF Mildenhall. This has only come to light in the last couple of years. I believe some have also been found at Eastern Coast locations in the USA.
I am amazed at accurate the animation is when it comes to planes, tanks and other equipment! It is always spot on!
When there are 1:44 worth of plugging Magellan TV, and then having 6 ads each about 15 seconds 💀

I would really like a simple history episode on the Australian ww2 commando unit, z force and how they destroyed 11 ships in one night.
Finally, thank you for uploading this there was little information about Werewolf Hideouts after WW2 on KZread.
Good video
The name for the units was also partially inspired by the book “Der Wehrwolf” by Hermann Lons. The book is about a German peasant who wages a guerrilla campaign against invaders during the 30 years war, and was very popular in Germany at the time. The plot of the book emulated what the units were supposed to do.
I actually have their book Its a guerrilla warfare book for werwolf, Hitler youth and volkssturm Also operation werwolf was more of a propaganda success but nevertheless they lasted for 3 years in total 19944-1946 (1947 but by then they weren't as strong as before and they didn't take action as much) In the book I have it goes as deep as explaining ambushes how to perform them, how to prepare them and how popular ambushes went down
I love all your video
Hi. I love the content you make and i wonder if you can do video about yugoslavia or the bosnian civil war from 1992-1995. Please. Love from Slovenia
