Because the S-300 system has a range of over 120km , it's not a big deal, Russia has destroyed Ukraine's whole air force multiple times , NATO and others have kept rebuilding it. Slovenia gave most there jets away, there former defense minister is gonna be charged with treason for leaving the country vulnerable. Poland gave them a bunch of old ussr jets , Even old Jets with East German markings has made it to the Ukrainian Air force

Is it a victory ? Ukraine has just old obsolete soviet era airforce. And yet Ukraine with help of few Patriots USA(have68 bateries)and IrisT made over Ukraine no fly zone for russians and russians have NO air superiority over Ukraine Airspace and yet russian lost over 300 airplanes including Sukhoy\57 or russian Avacs airplane was first successful shootdown in history. Russian airplanes actually performe really wery poorly in this conflict including helicopters KA52

Nobody has ever said that mig-29 could not be shot down by S300. It's a junk fighter jets made in russia. Of course, the mig29 sucks. I will probably believe that a sling can shoot it down.

@@Hindukush_JW That is true. They can't lock on the F22 Raptors either. Raptors can release a gliding anti-radar bomb from a long range and leave the area before even getting detected by S300, S400 or even S500.

When I was younger I was also thinking that the West is really the future and they are "the good guys". There's a lot of assumption still being portrayed in the article. Ukrainian air-power ceased to existed within weeks - as did most of their pilots. They constantly move their old Soviet era planes (who are capable of this) from one field to another. Whatever they get from NATOstan now is just as old, even if they added the odd gadget or more modern missiles. Russian AD can is mostly responsible for downing these planes, as are the patrols of Russian fighter jets with long range missiles. Whether Su-27, Mig-29, F-16 or even Mirage 2000, these planes are meant for air-to-air combat, which essentially is a thing of the past - at least how it is spoken about above. Nowadays it is about who spots whom first on the radar and who has the better missiles. All Ukrainian planes have to fly very low to escape Russian radars, and even this may not save them from the Su-30SM / Su-35 patrols, now working in pairs. As we were told on this very channel.

That's a pretty BIG Shovel from Russia! It Works quite fine!

Hell, a smart operator of a Yugo S-125 Neva missile shot down a US F-117 stealth fighter in 1999... This S-125 missile went into service in 1961 🤣 This same missile has also shot down F-16s as well in 1991s 1st Gulf War. Any deployed Russian missile means if it flies it dies... And they better pray S-400 or S-500 systems are not utilized.

Do minimum research before making up stuff. Only ONE F16 has everr been shot down...and it was indeed in serbia (NONE during Gulf war). Over 800 SAMs were fired by Yugoslav forces at NATO aircraft, including 477 SA-6s and 124 confirmed MANPADS, for the downing of only two aircraft and several more damaged.

How did a S-300 (introduced in 1978) shot down a Mig 29 introduced in 1961? Let me think... maybe they saw it in the radar and launched a missile at it? I'm pretty sure that a S-300 is perfectly capable of shooting older airplanes if even a S-125 (from 1961) can shoot down (and did) a F-117.
