Happy Independence Day, Sir !!Chakmas of Arunachal Pradesh are deprived of basic amenities of life due to the historical mistake done by Redcliffe. If Chittagong Hill Tract was included in India, it would be a State for Chakma tribe. Moreover, the Government of India would not have to worry about Siliguri Corridor which is the only small tract of land that connects the North East with the mainland India if Chittagong Hill Tract had been made a State of India.Many Chakmas had to migrate to India due to religious atrocities done by Bangladesh Government. A few thousands of Chakmas and Hajongs also migrated to Arunachal Pradesh where they are still discriminated by local communities. In spite of living in Arunachal Pradesh for almost 6 decades, they are still not given Indian Citizenship.

Why dont you go back Bangladesh and demand your land back? Why are you trying to claim the same land that gave you shelter? Its time to go back to Bangladesh. India would have been still dependent on siliguri corridor for northeast connectivity because chittagong hill tract doesn't have coast (which you have assumed) but only has proximity to coast. And if India had tried to get chakma hill tract , there would have been a war possiblity between India and pakistan even before independence and british army would'nt had left the Indian soil. Historical revision and retrospection is many sided and complex contrafactual subject, which should always handled delicately and objectively JAI HIND

Chakma are still suffering in Bangladesh as well as in India, specially Arunachal Pradesh. Govt of India wanted to correct their mistakes, so in 1964, more then 14 thousands Chakmas families from CHT were brought by Government of India and settled them permanently in NEFA ( Arunachal Pradesh) with the consent of Local community. The intention of government was to increase population, security in Border Area ( Indo-China) . Despite of Supreme Court Judgement Chakma people of Arunachal Pradesh are denied from their basic rights. It's been 6 decades Chakmas are living in Arunachal without rights and government support.
