    i always thought it came down to one of 3 options: 1: they were born with reduced horns that later grew to full size 2: their horns were born softer and/or less pointy 3: their horns were born with a "sheath" of softer, mushier tissue that was later shed off, much like the hoof capsules many ungulates are born with. all 3 options could contribute to the danger of childbirth, although, considering there doesn't seem to be much difference in that regarding the gender of the child, i would argue the dangers came from some other side effect of the long term hybridization, especially considering we don't know for sure if childbirth death was an issue for pureblood zabrak.

    Just an idea I thought of, maybe you did this already, but a video on why different factions' blasters had different color lasers. • @jasoncarnelian3325

    @jasoncarnelian3325

    iirc the meta reason for Clone Wars is to differentiate good guys from bad guys, good guys=blue lasers bad guys=res lasers. Rebels/og trilogy also used red because it contrasted better with the environments and made the lasers easier to see. It’s the same reason Luke’s lightsaber was made green, because blue would have been really hard to see with the blue sky behind it. Old 20th century tech limitations basically. In canon, they aren’t lasers at all, they’re bolts of plasma. The different colours are a result of different kinds of gases being heated and turned into plasma and different kinds of plasma are better suited to piercing or melting different kinds of materials. Again, this is all iirc. I’m not 100% sure on this. The red plasma used by the CIS was better suited to the plastoid armor used by the Clones and the blue plasma was better suited to the metal alloys that made up the bulk of the CIS’ droid army. I could just use wookiepedia and fact check myself but I’m on mobile and I’m pretty sure I’m at least partially right on some of this and let’s be honest, so could you lol. I hope this answers your question

    Before Maul took over Mandalore during the Clone Wars, the Mandalorian blasters all fired blue. After he killed Pre Vizsla and Deathwatch split in two, his loyalists were using red in the very next episode while the splinter group still used blue. Logistically, they couldn't and wouldn't have switched their ammo types that quickly, so it's all about visual choice and technical application in the making of the shows/movies. Any in universe explanations are working backwards from that and with something that far-reaching, they will always fall short. The only reason Mace Windu had a purple lightsaber is because that's what Samuel L. Jackson wanted, but later they said it was because he was the only Jedi to master all dueling styles. Same thing with the blaster colors.

    Well, look at dogs, for example. Their genome is pretty much the same, but the very tiny portion of the DNA that varies gives all those breeds we have now, and most of them can breed and give viable offspring, safe for some size incompatibilities (imagine a German Shepard male and a Pincher Female). Most humanoid species are exactly that: humanoid. They all seem to breathe in similar atmospheric compositions, have a set of eyes in the front, ears in the sides, appendages with digits at the end, oppositive thumbs, breasts, body proportions and shape. You can chalk that up to evolutive convergence alright, but the fact that humans can hybridize with those species indicates a common ancestor. Many claim it's impossible simply because they don't know.

    @@danshakuimo they're less common because most mules and hinnies are unregistered(without breed association papers) back yard oopses than intentionally bred animals, and because they have no visual traits that differ from a mule(female horse bred by a male donk), they can only be distinguished as a hinny via a blood test, and that's where the diffence ends. They handle the same, ride the same, drive the same, and pack a load the same as any mule. Another reason that they are less common is because stud horses are less willing to screw a Jenny donkey than a Jack donkey is to fuck a mare horse. I've bought and broken a lot of mules since getting out of college and I've seen and owned plenty that had more donkey visual traits than horse visual traits; and others, like the one currently behind my house guarding my sheep, look far more like horses with slightly elongated ears and Roman noses. He is a draft mule, and draft mules tend to resemble their mothers more, especially if their father is a large breed of Jack similar in height to the mother. A idea I have that that they could use to explain how hybrid species were possible lore wise is by using the idea of Midi-chlorians from the wellspring of life having the ability to help combine genomes of species with similar physiology so they result in compatible lifeforms in order to spur evolution and to spread themselves between species as a survival strategy so that they can sustain their existence on different planets. This could be used as a way to explain why all living things in the Star wars galaxy contain Midi-chlorians even thou they evolved on different worlds or why some creatures have unique or similiar appearances and abilities. For example space creatures or intelligent species that can travel in space between sectors are evolved by the Mid-chlorians that help produce special abilities/powers within species as a means to spread themselves to other planets in the galaxy where they help interspecies hybridisation in order to spread as a survival strategy.

    @@crazysilly2914 Pretty much if you interpret it that way, as you need to have these ideas sort of ambiguous so people can theorise and come to their own conclusions for if it is true or not. Plus if people do not like that idea about the midi-chlorians causing the powers they can present a alternate counter theory in the lore where the midi-chlorians just heighten a person's awareness to the force and that it is the individual who connects to and wields the force through their own soul/body and not the midi-chlorians that influence it so you can create an in universe rift in how the force is understood so that you can write a variation of beliefs about what the force is and what is responsible for what.

    I actually find this topic really interesting, because I was just reading something about this the other day. Apparently due to global warming, a lot of species are being forced into overlapping environments, which is creating more naturally occurring hybrid species, some of which are even more successful in their respective environments than either the parent species, and some of which are even fertile. The notable example was the pizzly/grolar bear, which is a combination of grizzly and polar bears that occurred primarily in regions like the most northern parts of Canada. Grizzlies are being driven North by the increasingly warm equator region, and polar bears are being driven South by the melting ice caps. Of course, in the real world these species aren't actually all that distant Genetically speaking, so it's less weird that they produced hybridized offspring with a great level of success, but it's still an interesting example of the phenomenon.

    I was surprised to see hybrids in The Bad Batch, since in one of the X-Wing books in Legends I remember a conversation between a couple of the pilots about how hybrids were quite rare and usually frowned upon. One of the pilots tried dating a Bothan, and ended up being allergic to her fur, if I remember correctly. I thought that was the authors' way of differentiating Star Wars from a certain other huge sci-fi franchise where it seems there *must* be at least one hybrid per ship, no matter how incompatible the parent species may be.

Copy-pasting from a post I made elsewhere in this comment section because so can: Canonically, Shaeeah, the girl, was born in 26 BBY, that’s four years before the Clone Wars even started. Similarly, Jek was born the year after Shaeeah, 25 BBY. So it makes a nice fan theory, but even doubling their age growth rate can’t account for their apparent on-screen age.

    Female Dathomirians most likely had light skin as a product of natural selection, same with the appearance of the males. Think of what traits might make them attractive to their opposing gender. For example the color, muscle mass, and horns give the males a strong hunter/warrior look, the females appear fair skin, symmetric cute faces, and have petite bodies (yet curvy in the right places) to attract prospective warrior mates. The females probably do those tattoos for a similar effect to look more attractive and badass in the eyes of a male, males got tattoos as part of their coming of age rights of passage so they would have a fondness of those kind of tattoos which is why the females started doing it to catch the eye of males. # The Dahtomirian gender Dymorphism is easy to explain - Nightsister Magic It is well established that the Force can manipulate life. Including creating new species like the Rakhghouls and various beasts via Sith-Alchemy. The Nightsisters were a bit more on the "grey side" of the force, but that just means they or their Ancestors might have had those skills. This could also mean the Nightmother is strong in the force, as she could "supress" any incompatible factors during birth # I too think the most likely explanation for genetic compatibility is the humans were the ancestors of many species - either via divergent evolution or genetic genetic engineering # It is worth mentioning two things on mules: - Hybrid sterility is based on missmatch in Gene order or chromosome number. With human derivates that is _much_ less likely to be an issue. I expect it with Twi'Leks and the like to have most issues (no Hair genes to match). - a female Mule *can* foal. They somehow produce sex cells that only contain the mothers half of their DNA - making the child a half-sibling or half-clone. For rarity we are talking in the order of "60 documented cases in 500 years", but it happens.

Until they were free. Its also a small chance to see a twilek human hybrid for some reason. It has been hinted that force users can have children with other species without any problems, looking at canon, Hera had a son, and Cut was a step father to human children. Its highly possible that as mentioned that only female twilek and human males will only have children, which seems all but confirmed. Very interesting video.

    I like to think this is sort of the same as humans in most fantasy RPGs. You don't have any traits that give you an advantage, but you can basically do anything to some extent. So humans don't have those cool "alien" features that probably stem from adaptation to their environments, but at the same time humans are very adaptable. Just look how no other species on Earth can spread across different biomes like us. So I wouldn't call it too farfetched to say the human genome is just that flexible, making that an excellent species for genetic interference

    Canonically, Shaeeah, the girl, was born in 26 BBY, that’s four years before the Clone Wars even started. Similarly, Jek was born the year after Shaeeah, 25 BBY. So it makes a nice fan theory, but even doubling their age growth rate can’t account for their apparent on-screen age.

What, just curious, and yes, I might have played a lot of Mass Effect AND am currently watching a lot of certain cartoons lately...

    Still doesn't work out. Rex meets Cut a year after the Battle of Genosis. Which... People tend to be pregnant for the majority of a year. And two kids of differing ages requires two pregnancies. So unless you're implying that having half the DNA of a clone who was genetically altered to grow at only twice the speed could impregnate a woman twice and that his children would grow to the equivalent of ~4+ and ~6+ ALL within the space of a year (not to mention the time since having deserted and found this woman)... No. Just no.
