I beg to differ sire, Penance is more like negate of mudrock. Penance can handle swarm of weaker enemy very well, but if there a single one strong between those, especially the one with art damage or slow single hit with massive damage, she will suffer, S3 can help with this, but if theres ton of art damage, it won't take long until the barrier expires. Mudrock on other side, can stall slow but massive attack single hit enemy forever, but might get overwhelmed by lot smaller enemy swarming at once. For example, the withered knight duo, victorian artillery, etc. Her S3 negate her weakness as well by giving her attack equal block number.

Mudrock S2 decimates swarms and holds up nicely against elites. They simply cannot overwhelm her.

I can't wait till i see some defender-knights player using both penance and mudrock in a 3x defender cost map.

penance is actually more like a sidegrade than powercreep. she can be really strong but only if you feed her enemies to keep the barrier up, with mudrock tho? well... she just need to exist.

i agree, the way i use both is by making penance as the main defender while mudrock as a laneholder to hold and deal with elites. yeah i use both in my squad, don't care if my dp get sucked dry by them🗿

i found it funny when she uses s3 its like bonking time with steroids in my mind Penance: it's bonking time you slugs proceeds to bonk speed to mach 2

Penance is better against trash mobs but Mudrock is still superior against elites... When she's 1v1 against an elite Penance's barrier will expire and she will be left vulnerable. Mudrock's stuns and heals really make a difference.

@@lukasdeen6226 problem is that Penance needs a wave of mobs in order to sustain her barrier. Mudrock = Penance, they're two sides of the same coin, they're just used differently. I can see Penance being a main defender while Mudrock being a lane holder

This is obviously a sign that Penance is clearly a stronger unit against high enemy count and ultimately should be considered the stronger high-end operator. In fact one can easily take a look at their CC history. Penance appears in 50% of permanent maps' max risk most optimized runs in which she was released. This is clearly a massive improvement to Mudrock who only saw use in 30% (I will let the reader do their personal research on those numbers). One can conclude whatever they want, using whichever waifu arguments favoour their opinion, but to me it appears that Penance is the superior operator. I hope you can learn to use her defensive recovery, and make use of her great combat abilities in your campaign against your enemies.

Her limit is tank mobs. A single, especially ranged tank mob will disable her shield very quickly. Even buff-charged S3M3 won't help in that situation. Bolivar mobs are the prime example for this case - which is kinda ironic, since Bolivar mobs, including the bosses, are easily defended by most cheaper units. And the fact that her DP cost is so high meant that she mostly faced those late-spawned elite units unless DP cost is buffed early.

I am not an Arknights expert, but during IS-10, with Mudrock, Penance, Hoshiguma all E2 level 60-70, Hoshiguma S2 never flinched with medic support against big bad wolf, while Mudrock S2 and Penance S3 both went down with same setup. I have Eyjafajalla and Exusiai plus Horn acting as fire support while eack of the tank does her job. (Yes, I know those two can not be healed by normal means.)

Idk how you MudMud got killed. Maybe at the second phase. But she can sustain boss ph1 for eternity. Penance on the other hand can be placed to kill mobs. She's by all means not a boss killer. That's why you have Texas alter)))

Yeah and them not being healed by normal means matters because they aren't there to take the punishment from the bosses mostly. They are there to deal damage and hold against elites without needing to set up 3 operators to manage an area. Your experiment can work with any defender that can be healed, try Croissant or Cuora, even Gummy.

@@spamrme1654 You need to pay attention to the sub archetypes of each unit to try and help determine where they would fit in your team. Penance and Mudrock can be used against bosses but it depends on the mechanics and what your intended purposes for using them against said boss are. Usually Mudrock S3 is pretty good for stalling thanks to the slow. But in general their job is high damage and not being squishy to hold a place without help.

mudrock is still better against slow high damage dealing enemies like the golrms but for fast weak mobs yeah penance wrecks

Well we all know that there are no bad operators, only bad doctors. And we also know that different operators cannot be compared anyway (that's what AKO #help told me and I trust them with all my heart). BUT if we really wanted to compare, we would see pretty quickly that they are pretty equal (so why compare anyway). Mudrock has the big funny shield that can negate damage, and it is very busted when you need to tank one big enemy. But how often do you need that? Penance on the other hand excells under pressure, and she is also better left alone. Indeed while defensive recorevery is very good, she needs to get hit a lot and also wants to kill trash mobs, she is better left alone, a bit like a lone wolf (wink). It is clearly not a problem as she is more than capable of performing by herself anyway. And well, apart from their enormous DP cost you can use both at once so why even bother comparing in the first place ?! That would assume you have good gacha though with isn't always the case, but as a wise man said "just get".

Recently used Penance S3M0 to clear CC12 Risk 18, she held the left lane all on her own with Blemishine passive

The annoying part is I need to level her and my LMD and mats is not enough

mudrock has always been valued for her 5s stun and massive aoe slow on a short cycle tbh. General content has never been difficult enough for the distinction to matter, and you almost never see mudrock S2 in high risk cc. They do very different things. One is a dps unit, the other is aoe slow and stun.

People use the word "powcrept" and stuff but still comeback to use those Operator is pathetic. LOL.
