Kai has one of the best Redemption arcs. It's a seriously underrated one with how Beyblade tends to be overlooked among the endless list of anime, but damn if it's not good. So often we skip over the former antagonist rival having tension with his team before finally settling into a friendly rival position. But with Kai spending more of the season being aloof, before leaving the team, then coming back, it makes the final arc moments with him extra special. Especially because he lost his match solidly, so isn't just 'back and solidifies his spot with power!'. It's his coaching and support that really shows he is part of the team, not just his win record.

This arc was one of the coolest finales to a Beyblade series, but in a way, also bittersweet. This is, so far, the only Beyblade series to be produced by animation studio Madhouse, with production on V-Force and G-Revolution taken over by Nippon Animation. This isn't a mark against those seasons, far from it, but the visual changes are noticeable, mainly in character designs and the use of CGI for the Beyblades. The latter becoming a staple for all Beyblade shows moving forward. That said, this was an awesome review series, and I look forward to seeing you tackle the next 2 seasons in the future👍

I will say I loved Kai's growth in this season, especially his last fight where he may have lost, but he chose to no longer hunger for power and to fight true to himself, and if he lost, he would have faith in his friends to win which is pretty good development from him not having faith and always being solo #1 to seeing his teammate's strengths and having trust in them. Will say I wish ya luck with V-force it's not my favorite season tho it may have some moments that could be neat.

But then during the match Kai uses the normal Dranzer -And yes, Yuri is definitely not a cyborg ahahahah Btw apart from the goofy eng dub I can't wait for your next reviews of V-Force and G-Revolution, very good job man💪🏻

Glad your reviews have been restored and these troubles are past. I'm... sure it won't be the last time this sort of thing happens to you, but it's worth celebrating these small victories anyway. Having Kai lose and be placed in the role of a tutor once again was a masterful move by the writers. It highlights that his greatest strength is not his prowess at battling with a beyblade, but as a guide, a planner and a strategist, this makes him more interesting than he would have been if he won and was simply another "warrior". 4:57 Preeeetty sure injuring your opponent should be very illegal in such a sport, but what are you gonna do. 8:29 Pretty sure defying the laws of physics, and taking your opponent into a pocket dimension in the middle of a match should be illegal as well (just a little bit). After my real first watch through the series (and currently on G Revolution), the og Beyblade series is surprisingly solid, even with the wacky dubisms. There are great character interactions and great matches with so much of the cast that I can actually give a recommendation. Kai and Ray are easily my two favorite characters in the whole thing but that's not to undersell Tyson and Max as they have a bunch of great moments, same with a few of the other cast members. Its honestly just a fun series to watch and get into if you're up for it.

Love the reviews. I've watched all three seasons of Beyblade a few times since childhood so I know what's to come but it's definitely fun watching others revisit the series. V-Force will be a much different experience but I'm really looking forward to it. If you ever do G-Revolution THAT IS WHERE IT IS AT.

Ah, ya know what? Just because you're so warm and cool, and you do your homework, I'm subbing. She says, NOT trying to make it sound like I'm doing you a favour, because I do legitimately like your work. I looked forward to this hardcore, and you had a good point about Tala that I never observed before; he's Kai without friends. But he's also an ABUSED CHILD. For child abuse alone, BIOVOLT was so exquisitely illegal in real-world context, holy sh*t.

Really been enjoying the spinoff, no pun intended at this time, retrospect journey so far. Beyblade was one of many that I grew up with alongside Digimon and many others, though it was probably the Metal series as I’ll call it my brain remembers me getting into it the most at with the lead character Gingka I believe. Can’t wait to see if you dive that deep, but happily gonna be along for the ride no matter where it goes.

Ray has the best fights in all the entire Gen 1 Beyblade series. Let's be honest, Ray Vs Brian was like a fight in Yu Yu Hakkusho but without blood. Despite losing Kai won, that is how you make a character lose to an important fight. Ray and Kai carried the final arc.

While not easy to recognize, Dragoon does “speak” to Tyson, metaphorically, in episode 2, prior to his first battle with Kai. As if calling out to Tyson, to use his power in his Beyblade. Given the history lesson we receive, it’s all to easy to imagine an older style of battle, where Bit Beasts were sealed in weapons and the combatants skill and spirit determined the outcome. And the metaphor works for Beyblading because America and Russia both train the body physically in order to help them perform better at blading. And it showed too. Spirit is the final factor, but physical health does also play a part. Next time: introducing my favorite character of Season 2 and 3.

Monster Taming and Sports Anime is a crossover made his Anime-Fan-Heaven to be honest. You see it with how often monster taming anime have tournament battle arcs XD But Beyblade being Sports Anime FIRST and Monster Taming second really gives it a special vibe that I loved.

Beyblade season 1 had no business being as fire as it did while certainly not perfect and having its issues here and there like you said it could of just been some throw away series just to sell toys and do nothing more but you could feel the care and attention put into it. I really enjoyed your coverage of this season 1 and I'm really looking forward to seeing you tackle V force a season that I won't lie I'm not the biggest fan of but can't wait to see your coverage of it none the less let rip it.
