This video is very relatable! Sorry long text in coming, just want to share my current experience. I Recently convert to the Catholic faith (more like a reconvert). As most of the stories I was raised catholic, baptism and first communion and suddenly I became agnostic for like 8 years. But when I was finishing high school, God was guiding me to Him with little steps, showing me friends and knowledge (I love philosophy and because of it I returned, the most I studied the most convinced I was), in that moment I was just a Deist, like I know God exists but only because is necessary for the existence of the universe. Then it comes the relatable part, I started dating a protestant girl (also Baptist, but because here in Latin America is hard to find classic Protestantism). She showed me how is to worship and how is life with Jesus and tried to convince me to be in her church. I always rejected the idea, because of my pride, the idea of Christianity was unfair and illogical to me, even if I know there is a God. Time passes and even I told her to stop talking about her faith (she did), but she did not give up. Even when I was Deist, for some reason in pandemic my family went very often to mass and I followed them and do all the things, and a certain time I said to myself that I am like a "proto-Catholic" (I believe but, in my way) that for the whole pandemic. Now in the last months of 2023 in me feed suddenly appeared Christian apologetics, shorts about Christian faith and bible verses. I let them to be in my feed, even I liked some of those, feeding the algorithm. And the videos were better and with better proves of the reliability about God and the gospel even I tried to search more information and videos. Practically KZread changed my faith (not very intelectual of my part but anyway it worked, and I tried to learn more in my ways. But I have to admit that there are very good videos with very good research) Now what happened with the protestant girl. I tell her that now I am Christian, and I apologize to her, she only wanted the best for my soul, even I said thanks for the effort to convert me. I was very glad when she told me that in the whole relationship she always prayed for my conversion (and my family members too!). And well after all of that I still in my research finding more information about the Catholic faith, and very happy to be here. She, the protestant, we are still in a relationship, and yes, we have talked about this topic.

I am indeed convert to the Catholic faith. I was born and baptized as an orthodox Christian originally however I started taking a path of Buddhism and after that some more spiritual/new age practices for many years. Eight years ago, Christ appeared in my dream and he was baptizing me, although I had had no connection with him for a couple of decades. then I had major surgery and he appeared again- this actually was a life saving operation. I died and came back. Also I was in recovery for 5months thereafter. Jesus and some of the archangels kept appearing in my life, and slowly, I started listening to Joel Osteen and decided to attend the catechism class at the Anglican Church. However, due to some administration issues, they wouldn’t allow me to become catechized until after Covid restrictions were need. Meanwhile, I had a personal affinity to a specific Catholic Church in the area where I live , but I never wanted to be baptized as a Catholic because all the priest abuses and the very dogmatic views around homosexuals, etc. One day, I coincidentally happened to be at my beloved Catholic Church during mass, and a lady told me that I could actually be catechized during Covid restrictions. So I started the course which was two years long, and during that time I understood that God had led me there on purpose. I slowly started understanding more and more about the Catholic faith And I was received into the church. My faith journey has been very deep and rich. I have given all to Jesus and mother Mary. I take my faith beyond church as this isn’t living the faith. And every day I thank God for leading me to the right place. I have nothing against other Christians - we are all brothers, but I am Catholic.

@@tony1685 St. Irenaeus (writing around the 150s AD, so in his old age) once talked about Scripture and the Church. For context, he was the bishop of Lyon and a disciple of Polycarp, who in turn studied under (and was ordained bishop of Smyrna by) John Apostle himself and wrote excellent books debunking the Gnostics. A big point against the Gnostics was, of course, that they had links to a living Apostle, and even after St. John died they still kept his teachings, whereas the Gnostics had no Apostolic support, nor anyone who directly learned from them. Irenaeus commented that, in his time, he knew of many "barbarian" churches that unfortunately had not a single copy of the Scriptures, or maybe at best one or two books, but were genuine and true, and carried the faith of the Apostles uncorrupted. He also commented that there were churches which DID have the Scriptures in full, but were false, as they did not carry the truth of God and the faith from the Apostles as they taught it, despite having the Scriptures. I agree with Irenaeus here. If you have no connection to the Apostles historically, and you don't carry the Faith as was taught since the beginning, you're in a false Church. I don't care about your arguments or your bible full of notes, show me your Apostolic succession.

@@alonsoACR while i agree there are churches with God's Word, who are not following Christianity -- but that doesn't mean it's wise to not have Them nor follow Them. there is absolutely zero support in Scriptures saying one needs 'apostolic succession' --- in fact, the 'church' which promotes that nonsense is a 'church' which is Biblically proven to not know God, not love Jesus Christ and not walk in Truth. so i will stick with Jesus and stand on a plain and clear _'Thus saith the Lord!'_ -- Matt 4:4, Luke 4:4 since it's proven that God's Word of Truth exposes and repels Satan and his lies. you wrote: _'I don't care about your arguments or your bible full of notes....'_ -- of course you don't -- you're what's known as a Bible illiterate. it's a catholic prerequisite.

Cameron, if I may, I would share this personal toughts with You : As catholic, to me, the Bible is not the goal in itself. Some think knowing Jesus Christ is knowing as many possible verses of the Bible. But many SAINTS have found Jesus with very little “biblical” knowledge. For a Christian it is not the quantity of knowledge that prevails but first of all HUMILITY and FAITH, HOPE and LOVE/CHARITY. I like this quote from Father Maurice Zundel (Swiss Catholic priest and mystic): "God is not knowledge but a discovery. God is not an explanation but a person to encounter"

I am one of those people who found Jesus and even understood certain qualities and characteristics of God without the Bible. I'd had mystical experiences my entire life intermittently, but I spent most of my life outside of church, so I knew very little scripture. I was baptized at 7 or 8 years old and I still remember the feeling of love and being led to the front of the church to proclaim before everyone that I believed in Jesus and accepted Him as my Lord and Savior. My mother took us to church for about a year when I was young. Jesus came to me for the first time last year and spoke to me inaudibly. He told me the Bible is true and to read it and learn it well. When I read the Bible for the first time in my life (I'd read verses while in church and maybe completed a couple of books in my life but never the entire Bible), I realized, much of what I understood about God was written. For one thing, as a child, I was taught He was a white bearded man in a white robe on a throne. I always knew He was spirit. I knew most Christians today don't know Him or follow Him. I sensed that powerfully, and so I stopped attending churches. When He showed up in my livingroom that day, I hadn't stepped foot in church in 7 years. Anyway, He sent me to the Catholic church. So, now I read the Bible everyday, and I pray and think about Jesus constantly. God bless you. ❤

For all you know, you might save her soul. But be cautious the relationship doesn't become a cause to sin. The best tool for conversion is pure, unfiltered devotion in a life sanctified and sacrificed to God. That's how it works, and how it always worked in the Church. In all these real life stories of entire villages being converted, people didn't convert when a theologian or a scholar passed through, but when a _saint_ passed through. That's intriguing to people, and that's when people approach you, and only then is when you defend the faith and provide your own reasons. Think of why YOU are Catholic, what arguments or what experience or what effects for when she asks, don't go talk about why SHE should be Catholic. That's my advice. May God bless you both.

Was baptized into the Catholic Church at the vigil of Pentecost this year. My parents took me to an evangelical church growing up. Many things seemed to me to be well wishing so I left after awhile. 10 years of ignorance and indifference to religion. Started seeing the evils in the world from engaging in politics. Heard some interesting bits of logic coming from the Catholic world on what evil is and why we are so disgusted by it. Dated a protestant with the intentions for marriage. She wanted to make sure that I was Christian so she had her pastor talk to me, who was very anti Catholic but couldn't refute some logical points of Catholicism. I looked into it more, found Catholic Answers, got married to the same protestant and entered the Church a month ago. Engaging with protestantism made me go Catholic.

@@theurzamachine Chesterton had a similar experience in his own path to the Church. I managed to find the quote, enjoy: "I asked them why they could not simply disagree with Papists and say so, as they did with Theosophists or Anarchists. They seemed at once pleased and shocked with my daring, as if I had undertaken to convert a burglar or tame a mad dog. Perhaps their alarm was really wiser than my bravado. Anyhow, I had not then the most shadowy notion that the burglar would convert me. That, however, I am inclined to think, is the subconscious intuition in the whole business. It must either mean that they suspect that our religion has something about it so wrong that the hint of it is bad for anybody; or else that it has something so right that the presence of it would convert anybody. To do them justice, I think most of them darkly suspect the second and not the first." - The Catholic Church and Conversion

And I wish there was some exciting "thunder clap" story - but there isn't. We were both older when we met and had raised families outside of any strong faith. And we initially were quite happy where we were - functional atheists. But in time we both felt a hunger we couldn't define - and by God's Grace we were lead to the Church. Accepting the Faith of the Apostles has been the greatest blessing in my life. I could never leave.

Like you, I'm born of Catholic faith and was introduced to the Born Again group during the 90s. However, despite the good fellowship and hyped up praise and worship, I felt there's something wrong. I find it hypocritical in their preachings to love Jesus but dismiss His Mother as an ordinary sinner. Isn't that rude and off? Aside from that, to tell me to destroy holy images for my salvation. Huh? And to solely rely on the bible. I questioned and debated in the cell group until the pastor decided to boot me out. 😅 Fast forward to today. I'm surrounded in a multi cultural society where people of different faiths and beliefs convene. I've been asked by a Muslim why am I Catholic? Same with another born again co worker who wants to convert. So I prayed, researched and re-evaluated my faith. Now, I know where I stand and I thank the Lord for guiding me to know the truth. I will always remain Catholic, in the church that Jesus built. Amen

Being honest, I thought love would make possible for us to thrive through our differences. I also was sure the Lord would act in his soul for him to convert, because it was for a good motive, right? ... I am offering my suffering to the Lord. Though I still wonder sometimes if I lacked too much charity when talking about faith with him, and if maybe somehow more love would have made the difference....

Do you understand the biblical gospel as opposed to Rome's "gospel"? I was a DEVOUT Roman Catholic for the first twenty-something years of my life until I discovered that true gospel when examining what the Bible teaches. Catholicism says that in order to get into heaven we need to first be water baptized, then we need to go through the church, through the sacraments, through endless Masses, through "indulgences", etc., and hopefully that'll be enough to get us into "Purgatory". After that, people here on earth can help to get us into heaven. All of that is a FALSE GOSPEL that's foreign to Scripture and that CANNOT save. So what's the true, biblical gospel? It's that we're justified by faith (Romans 5:1) on the basis of Christ's perfect righteousness reckoned to our account (2 Corinthians 5:21, Philippians 3:9). And if anyone teaches a different gospel, as the Roman Catholic Church has done for many centuries, the Apostle Paul says that they're accursed (Galatians 1:8-9). All of these stories about "boyfriend leaving girlfriend" or "girlfriend leaving boyfriend" aren't focusing on the importance of what the true gospel is. So what if someone converts to a false church with a false gospel? Is that temporary happiness really worth eternal separation from God?

Baptists are so varied in doctrine that it actually changes from church to church. How one single denomination cannot even agree amongst each other on key doctrine is really bewildering. Mark 3 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. You cannot invent doctrine and disagree with each other on key teachings and call yourself a church. Jesus and the apostles made one church and it was united with doctrine. New learnings were debated amongst early Christian’s … and it took centuries for some of these teachings … but there is a unified doctrine and none of those teachings is contrary to the bible.

"Unified doctrine and none of those teachings is contrary to the bible"????? You must be living on a different planet. Catholicism's "dogma" of the Bodily Assumption of Mary is just one example that contradicts your claim. That teaching is NOWHERE found in Scripture, and no Christian in the first several hundred years of church history believed such a thing. Whether Mary was bodily assumed into heaven, or not, is IRRELEVANT - it has nothing to do with the Christian faith. But along comes Rome (in 1950) and tells us that that is now a "De Fide" dogma that one MUST believe under threat of anathema. And that's just one example that proves today's Roman Catholic Church is NOT apostolic. When you don't have a single apostle or Christian in the first several hundred years of church history teaching that the Bodily Assumption is "De Fide", you can't claim that Rome embraces the "apostolic faith".

Ultimately, your own choice made you Catholic, sir. As long as you're saved by grace through faith, and as long as you're not trusting in the Eucharist or Magisterium to save you, being Catholic is fine. Also, Orthodox people will enter the chat on the whole "One True Church" thing. The Church of God, according to Peter himself (the Rock), is built upon Jesus as the Rock-- the Chief Cornerstone. "As you come to Him, the living stone, rejected by men but chosen and precious in God’s sight, you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ., According to Peter the stone, we, too, are built upon Jesus, the Living Stone, not upon the small stone Peter. That's PETER'S own testimony about it. Also according to Peter: we are a "royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." The early Church was just as much the Church as any current Church organization. And they had none of the accretions that have been added over the centuries. Today the Church is made up of believers in the Catholic, Orthodox, Episcopal, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Methodist, Baptist organizations and on and on. Wherever there are living stones there is the Church Jesus founded.

Scripture is supposed to act as a guardrail AGAINST false teachings such as that. GRECO-ROMAN CHRISTIANITY OR JUDEO-CHRISTIANITY? Given the fact that Jesus is not one of the many sons of Zeus, the god of the Greeks, and that the God of Abraham had never promised a Son to Israel but the Messiah (HaMashiak) which the Greek forgers and fiddlers translated as “Christos” as it is written: "I will raise among them the Messiah(Christos)HaMashiak, a Prophet(Messenger) like you Moses, Him they must listen..." Deut.18:15-19; Acts 3:17-24; Acts 7:1-30; Luke 24:25-27 and 44-47; Acts 17:1-3; John 4:24-25, Surah 3:81, etc. So Messiah(Christ) is a Prophet in the likeness of Moses as Matthew proved it. Like Moses He stayed in Egypt. Like Moses He is Mediator of a New Covenant. Considering that the Gospel that Paul proclaimed to the world mentions JESUS CHRIST SON OF GOD and not just JESUS. Therefore, we can deduce that Trinity is a misunderstanding of the Pauline doxology of “Father, Son, and Holy Spirit”! Because between Jesus Christ (HaMashiak) Son of God and Jesus Son of God... there is a great philosophical and legal difference if we take as a legal framework the TEN COMMANDMENTS and the social environment where Jesus was born!

Thou art the advocate of the most wretched and abandoned sinners who have recourse to thee: come to my aid, for I recommend myself to thee. In thy hands I place my eternal salvation, and to thee I entrust my soul. Count me among thy most devoted servants; take me under thy protection, and it is enough for me. For, if thou protect me, I fear nothing; not from my sins, because thou wilt obtain for me the pardon of them; nor from the devils, because thou art more powerful than all hell together; nor even from Jesus, my judge, because by one prayer from thee He will be appeased. But one thing I fear: that in the hour of temptation I may through negligence fail to have recourse to thee and thus perish miserably. Obtain for me, therefore, the pardon of my sins, love for Jesus, final perseverance, and the grace ever to have recourse to thee, O Mother of Perpetual Help." Say 3 Hail Marys.

@@CameronRiecker thanks for deflecting & sticking to your traditions. This is trend from people that are not in the sound faith. Do you trust in 1 Peter 3:15? If you can ante up towards your former GF, don't hide now.

There was no need to mention your ex’s good looks or that she’s a model. Disrespectful to your wife.

Stopped listening at "mass and eucharist clearly referenced in the Bible." That's obviously false. Glad you're taking your faith more seriously though.

Thanks for the comment :) I think you should finish the video to see how it ends up! May not be the way you expect. But do you not think that simplest reading of John 6 points to something like the Eucharist?

All sorts of stuff from the mass originated in the scriptures and the Lord’s Supper is also talked about in several places (most notably by Jesus Himself at the Last Supper)

In fact, ALL of the Mass is in the Bible (I’d watch Fr. Casey’s video on it)
