I use 3 cards now and my father being a banker taught me nitty gritty of credit card usage very early on when my father was unwell and I had to make most of the purchases. And honestly, credit cards have helped me a lot but I could only reap their benefits due to the lessons I had which sadly enough, most people don't have. Kudos to the team for educating people this important but often ignored topic.

4:05 MadterCard, VISA, American Express are not Credit Information Companies. There are four CIC in India - CIBIL, EQUIFAX, Experian and High Mark. Also, the score they provide isn't called CIBIL 3:59 (a general misconception); it's called credit score.
@AllenBaby7
Жыл бұрын
While we're at it, I should also point out that the statistics they provided don't give any meaningful insight on the situation. A person who spends a lot is more likely to have a credit card therefore the spends on credit cards will obviously be higher than debit cards which are held mostly by conservative spenders. Correlation doesn't mean causation.

Use a credit card just as a debit card. Check your bank balance, if you can make it within the budget of a debit card, only then use the credit card and reap the benefits of grace period and reward points. I agree to all the 4 rules pointed at the end.
Advice: If you know you can’t make more than 75% of your total credit card expense before the due date, don’t use a credit card.

I think credit card is kind of a mind game between the bank and the user, if the user is smart and effectively uses his credit card to get all the benefits and pay on time then bank will lose money on the user but many people dont do this which is a big advantage for banks and a big source of income.
Kaafi pyaari Video editing. And A1 content as always. In the times, when other channels are influencing us to take credit cards, Aevy is showing us the real picture and the caveats that come with a CC. Amazing
My father was a high earning professional, I remember my parents using a credit card ever since I was a child. Due to personal reasons, had to get into a situation where our income was lesser but still fine. From that point point forward, I remember, everytime we had to pay off a large portion of the due or the entirety, something was sold. Cars, House or even Gratuity/PF. The only reason I see my self using a card is for the rewards, in a situation where I can actually afford stuff without a CC in the first place. I'd rather save money and invest lumpsum rather than for a few weeks.

I have been using credit cards for more than 5 years now and have like 20+ cards for different uses, it's a useful instrument only if you track your expenses carefully and stick to your budget. But if you are a spendthrift it's gonna put you in really bad position financially. I always advice that you spend only that much amount from your credit card that you have in your bank account so that you can get 50days interest free loan and earn interest on the amount and pay as soon as the bill generates.

You guys doing a GREAT GREAT JOB . Many finance influencers are selling off to these credit card brands and in turn advertising credit cards in an EXTREMELY MISLEADING WAY . This is what i was trying hard to explain to my friend. I also have a credit card but use debit card because of exactly the reason "Credit card makes you think you have more money than you actually have" . He was just not listening to me and arguing with me even though i was the one trying to help him only. Yeah Credit Cards are evil business. Right now 1 more bank is trying since last 6 months to give me a credit card but i am just ignoring hard exactly cuz i am aware of Credit Card Business. If i ever need a loan then i will take personal loan and not credit card loan thingy.

I've been using credit cards for 5 years or so and I've got many free flights, hotels and discounts. My bank has an option of auto-pay. So the entire bill gets debited automatically from my bank account at the end of the billing cycle. So no worries on that. I've never paid any hidden charges. I use debit card for cash and credit for everything else and earn points on every rupee spend. So it's a wise decision if you are aware!! + I also have a free Priority Pass so i have unlimited lounge across the globe for my whole family with one card.

Every one should get a credit card to nurture financial discipline. Credit card is one of the good way to begin with. 1.Credit card is the safest method to pay any bills, In the case of theft or unauthorized transactions there is 2-3 days for charges to post in to your account. You can call the credit card company and block the transaction.If its debt card there is no refund. 2. You always get cool deals/ cash back with credit cards 3.With steady spending and paying bills ON TIME you can improve your credit score which should help eventually to get access better rates of interest and loans

You can always take the increase limit and then set your usable limit to 56k, that’ll help in increasing your credit score as your credit utilisation would go down.
This video is very informative and eye opener too. I request you to make this video in Hindi too for a mass segment.
I don't know if it applies in general but where I am from has a system of auto-debit which links your bank account to your credit card account and automatically transfers the full amount of bill on the last day of your billing cycle. You just have to enable it once and then you just make sure you have enough money in your linked bank account. There is no fear of forgetting to pay. Also you can pre-instruct your card authority to block further transactions if you hit a given (defined by you) amount of bill within a month. That gives you an automatic safeguard against over-spending.

I use my credit card mainly for fixed expenses like electricity, water, gas, fuel, mobile bills etc. So basically only the first month ever is interest free and from then on its as good as paying the bills on time. This makes for a regular repayment habit and my credit utilisation is well below 30%. Win-win! And where ever possible I have tried to shift to fully lifetime free cards like the ICICI Amazon Pay card or Flipkart Axis Bank card or similar.
