I take this from a different perspective - an OP character is now easily seen as such and hopefully there will be action taken much faster. Yes, Blastoise meta would have been an even worse nightmare, but the necessary nerfs would have come faster.

The weird thing about comfey is they turned it into the exact same problem yuumi was/is in league. Like years of warning about why a character like this just inherently isn't healthy and they just went ahead and repeated that mistake. League has been racking their brains trying to fix yuumi to no avail.

As an absol main that uses psycho pursuit, i can definitely say that i wd throw my switch to the wall if that ever happened to me

maybe a good solution to Comfey would be changing its healing/shield to give diminishing returns when used on the same Pokémon (akin to mews Coaching) but increase its survivability when off a Pokémon (like getting a shield when hopping off your teammate). that way the Comfey is to encourage swapping between teammates apposed making one super strong.

I really like that idea, it encourages skilled comfey play without removing what it's designed to do

Ran into a zacian comfey duo during a Crustle match. Literally the only, ONLY reason we won was because they tried to backscore instead of going to rayquaza. Literally took me, and 2 other pokemon, and my unite in main base to finally take down that monster.

I really enjoyed being comfey even before the buff. I like being support but it was difficult to heal my teammates who run away so fast and puts me in awkward positions. Comfey makes it so my teammates can’t ever run away from me again

Except it wasn't actually the worst mon in the game. First week winrates for a support that requires some coordination to play to full potential aren't a good measure of viability, and most people also are bad at math and didn't realize **pre-patch** Floral Healing was already better than Softboiled if you had more than 2 Flowers. Yuumi btw ALSO has an extremely low winrate in LoL but is generally recognized to be broken regardless.

That is how that type of character works

There is a character in DOTA 2 called Io that is also an "attach" unit, but it still functions as completely separate. It is not untargetable as its ability "Tether" essentially just connects it to an ally and shares a percentage of whatever health regen it has and a bit of stat buffs here and there. Granted Unite doesn't have natural healing over time like DOTA does, but it does make Io a bit easier to deal with since, again, it is completely separate and can choose to just move away from an ally to break the link.

The thing that would really make Comfey more balanced is making her more reliant on collecting flowers. The buff was kinda dumb buy empowering the base heal, when the flower gimmick is what help it feel fair.

I had a Comfey + Dodrio today on my team. It was ridiculous how they destroyed anything that came across them

Watching the Urshifu gameplay in this video, they also need to stop giving strong pokemon moves with consecutive dashes. If I can see an Urshifu on the edge of my screen and start to run away and use an eject button but still can get caught then you might as well cover the entire map in grass.

Delphox is the only counter since it's unite move weakens hp restoration. No other character has that type of debuff unfortunately

I feel comfey is going to stay. Players will find ways to deal with it.

As a support player , i love comfey , problem as a solo q player is its like random , if your ally is bad , its game over . But if the player is a good carry , its really fun to keep him alive

Comfey wasnt a problem until Zazian... Even with watwr Ursifhu wasn neither a problem. Of you have a problem with Comfey, you kind of have a problem with healers. Another killer combo was Blissey Tiranitar and Blissey wasnt the problem...

It was a problem after it got buffed though. We just didnt get much play time with it and something OP.

I think a really good change they could make is add a sp attack, attack, and Tanky item that gives a reduced healing effect or grievous wounds in league we already know the effect exists in Delphox so why not just add items that can help counter healing because it’s not just comfey that make matches really annoying I think this would be a decently good change and also make it to where items can’t stack off each other so you couldn’t just run all three on one Mon

I think it's kinda wild I came back to this game with Umbreons release, and Comfy, a healer, is still running rampant and there is STILL no dedicated Anti-heal type item in the game to put on. Still just Delphox ult, to my knowledge.

I definitely agree, I tried Tsareena earlier bcs. it's been a while, and with comfey, I was able to clear the enemy team (some of them were squishy) and steal registeel from them. We were crushing the game too, until 2 or 3 team mates decided to score just as rayquaza spawned and . . .

i came back to this game a week ago, my first match i was playing mystical fire sylveon and the comfey on my team stayed on me the entire match, i remember when three people on the enemy team jumped me at once and i killed all of them and was left at half health :/

they just need to add a bond timer, so its more strategic the time confy bonds with a team mate yes, when the time runs out, it can bond with other pokemon, but there will be a space where you can attack and kill it. also, if a pokemon with confy is too much, you can just wait out the timer and then attack. finally, if this change isnt enough, the final thing to add will be that every time you kill with a confy bond active, this bond timer gets reduced, so is more like a survival supp and not a multi task one

comfy could work. more damage, less heal, but some shielding being able to basic attack while on allies might make the lack of straight heals that are gunna be needed to be nerfed not so bad halfing heals but adding some shield ie: if right now has 100 heal then-> 50 + 30 shield might be an option to make the characters kit work theres also the fact the other side of the kit doesnt get used at all.. free real estate to do something new, nobody cares about the love kiss

I wish there were more people that put stock behind the quick chat, whether They respond to wanting to fight together or let you know where they're going or listened when you warned for surprise attacks or paid attention when you ask them to defend the base or score when it is our chance to score

I remember using Comfey and was attached to a Scizor, the majority of the enemy team was hard focusing on scizor and by all accounts they should have won, yet because I was spamming floral healing and magical leaf, coupled with Scizors innate vampirism, we wiped them out.

Give it a time limit for it to be attached to a pokemon? Say 10 seconds then has to wait 10 seconds to reattach?

An overpowered pokemon is more overpowered when it has a pocket healer? Shocker! I'm not convinced Comfey is to blame tbh. If a Blissey followed their Zacian around all game it would be as good or better, with a big hp pool letting it tank some hits while it pumps out more healing and bigger stuns and a much more impactful unite. Comfey is just getting the hate because it's new so people wanna play it, and it pocket heals by design. The issue isn't Comfey, it's Zacian.

Literally lol, Comfey is great and all but it's barely different from having a good Blissey, Clef or Elde who won't get picked apart and killed; even if the CC from Magical Leaf not being limited by mobility is quite good, there are plenty ways a Pokémon can get nuked in this game and if that happens then Comfey is dead too, immediately, unlike most other supports

who else saw this coming? Basically everything we experienced with Comfey is exactly what happened with Yuumi in League. We're just repeating the exact same mistakes. I don't think pick/ban is going to be enough to solve the issue. Comfey is a supporter, so rarely, if ever, will it be a big enough issue to warrant wasting the team's ONE ban on, allowing it to wreak its havoc freely. It's a catch-22, either you: - let it through ban phase and get forced into sinking all your resources into just shutting down the Comfey+carry combo, - or you ban it and let something else in the meta that's unconditionally strong through, putting your team at a draft disadvantage or severely hindering your draft picks to counter that strong mon I genuinely completely agree with Doublelift at 5:18 and it applies to Comfey too. These characters desperately need to be removed or heavily reworked because they are just too polarizing; the best you can ever do with balancing them is: - unplayably weak, - strong in esports but mediocre in soloQ - or broken in esports and strong in soloQ. Yuumi and Comfey just make whoever they're attached to unkillable/unpunishable. We've seen Riot do this song and dance with Yuumi (we'll see how her planned rework goes, my hopes aren't high). There's no need to repeat everything they did any more than we already have. Comfey is one of TiMi's worst-designed pokemon and I will happily elaborate and defend that in the replies. It needs to be removed or heavily reworked

Well, the one plus with this is that broken characters are recognized as undeniably broken immediately, so hopefully action will be taken faster.

Heroes of the Storm has a slightly similar problem in the form of Abathur (where he can make carries too powerful), but his job is to sit behind fort gates and provide global assistance instead of being a direct Yummi/Comfey clone.

DELETE IT or like a friend of mine suggested, add a time limit to how long Comfey can stay attached and a cooldown or make it targetable while attached.

Tbh one of my biggest issue with this Pokémon is is way it can continue to attack at wild range through cc like while playing espeon if i unite someone wit a comfey on them they can jus melt me while I’m uniting

This has been a week but its so true played with a blastoise with me as a comfee and even though i played solo q me and this blastoise are so in sync that we became overpowered everytime i united this blastoise also united everytime i stunned an enemy this blastoise followed up i really think being in sync with a player will make comfee overpowered

“The blue shell on your little brother” got me dying

Mina from Dawngate (RIP) was the only Moba character I've seen so far that did this exact concept right. She took a percentage of the damage that her host did at all times, and instead of providing direct healing, she instead offered sizable damage increases/reductions in narrow windows. She also feared any enemy that she landed on during dismount to encourage you to look for aggressive plays rather than afk on a carry.

I find great irony in the fact that this video popped up in my recommended the day after I decided to be a menace and play Comfey with my friend that was new to the game but wanted to play Zacian because he likes that pokemon.

Is SP attack means skills?

The problem for me is that i could be a water bear with the highest level and the most kills on my team, and the comfey on my team still wont attach on me

Hey maybe instead of a nerf or a ban we actually reward people for not playing like an afk robot by punishing you for just clinging like a piece of lint to the top tier of the week

Compey just needs a rework on one of it's moves. That homing attack (can't remember the name of the move). It's the stun affect that breaking the game. It applies the stun in very short successions

As an apex player who witnessed the gibby era there's only one thing you can do: release a pokemon who's around B+ to A tier, a mon that isn't completely op but can still hold its own, whose abilities are exact counters to comfey. Maybe a mon that can knock comfey off it's teammate

coordinated comfey play is really menacing

All the league players warned you: "Hey, comfey does not need buffs right now. Players have to get used to how to play it because it fundamentally plays different from a regular moba character. We've had the exact same thing happening for Yuumi and she's been terrorizing the game since release" Pair that with the fact that the average unite player is about as equal as a bronze rank in league, and suddenly you have a whole bunch of skewed data that doesn't accurately represent a new release. But people still had to shout for emergency comfey buffs before the playerbase could adjust to the mon, just how it was in league with Yuumi. And now we have a meta that's even more unfun than mime and sableye with a much lower skill ceiling than both of them, since the average duo/trio doesn't even detach to get flowers thanks to the unnecessary buffs to heals without flowers and passive flower gain. I hope we've finally learned from this to stop rioting on social media for buffs before people properly learn to play the character.

I was playing ranked and ran into zacian match and it made me take a brake because of how bad it is then find out about matchmaking the I run into a comfrey match oh my god I’m going into quick play now lol 😅

I think i know the perfect nerf for it. Force it to be only be able to be on a pokemon for a certain amount of time and then it automatically has to jump off. Obviously you can reset it by jumping off yourself but for those extended fights where you want to stay on for a long time, you may not and that is how to punish it

The only new Pokemon I've ever actually had an issue with in this game is sylveon but they fixed it immediately and I haven't seen any of the other ones with comfey .... That's probably why I haven't had a problem with this one... He is strong by himself but I haven't had any issues yet.

1:09 i said this in a fb group of pokemon unite in november/december (since first leaks) and thhey laughed at me, people were hyped because they ddnt know what yuumi was. but here we are lets see thm laugh btw i have theory despite yuumi being the most hated character ever , tencent still released same gameplay for unite as if they didnt learn from their first mistake and they also released sableye which i main hardly but looks like a suppoter teemo/evelynn , i think tencent like creating polirazing characters that can be hated, but at least this time they oblige the comfey user to get out to get more flowers to heal more whereas with yuumi if i remember you never go out unless to support other allies :')

What If comfeys healing does less the more kills the mon it’s attached to has? I think that would do wonders for balancing both it and yuumi and target the big issue. Just attaching to a hyper carry and winning

I mean amgical leaf could be a skill shot or maybe it takes more leaves for the flinch effect. I understand why this is coming , but think about the not competive climbers, they never have support and often go all DPS . While comfey doesn't solve this , it makes the einvorment a little less harsh.

As a comfey main (still trying to solo to masters) i feel like its negatives are at least balanced with its positives, if not outweighing them. Positives: invulnerable while riding, magical leaf stuns and detects enemies in grass, sweet kiss helps slower close range mons brawl enemies (especially if they have self healing like tree or slowbro), makes broken pokemon even better. Negatives: requires riding a pokemon to be remotely useful (can't self heal, deals almost no damage, incredibly frail, very slow movement), free KO if caught alone, healing is a bit mediocre when considering it's single target, 5 sec cooldown, and requires flower build up which is like a second cooldown. Jumping on and off is the best way to stay useful, but with the cooldown for it, it's essentially a free KO, especially mid fight when it's the most necessary. It effectively turns a 5v5 into a 5v4 with a buffed ally. You are entirely reliant on your team since you can't accomplish anything alone. Comfey isn't a character so much as it's a playable buff for your allies. This naturally means that broken mons will be extra broken, but it also means that pokemon that typically aren't good can finally get that little oomph to be usable again. I've been on every mon in the game and there's definitely ones you would not want to be on. Comfey is good, but not broken. Of course people can disagree, but in my experience this seems pretty spot on. Also, if someone wants i can give a solid analysis of how comfey pairs with any other mon.

It's op when paired with good players who knows how to take advantage of comfey. Buddy barrier basically gives them another life. I've ridden on venu that purposely kite multiple enemy op carry at edge of petal dance and magic leaf range, and then finish them off. It really is quite op in the right hands. Odds are you won't meet them often in solo q as not many has opportunity to practice with a good comfey on them.

@@captaincriticize8050 not quite the same because with comfey you basically become one pokemon. Just think of comfey as a permanent buff adding a 1.5k shield, a speed buff, a second life, a smoke bomb, a healing over time and 4k ranged damage that also stuns. Since the buff, its much better to never get off and just build that shield and be the permanent buff.

@@henli-rw5dw jumping on and off is what applies the shield (unless you use sweet kiss, in which case you can't heal and are a terrorist) which puts you at very severe risk in a team fight. Also, the healing over time is slow with a 5 sec cooldown and requiring flowers adding another cooldown for maximum effect. This is why we see comfey most often on bulky or extremely mobile mons since they have the survivability to allow the cooldown to finish.

@@captaincriticize8050 No it's much better to spam floral healing to build 3 stacks of shield on your pokemon while also giving it almost constant speed buff. I think I see why you are having a hard time.

I think Comfey should have diminishing heals the longer they stay on one pokemon. Like heals are halved after spending 40 seconds to one minute on the same pokemon. Then it has to spend an equivalent or longer time off of that pokemon or another pokemon before heals return to normal. Problem (somewhat) solved + the character becomes more interactive and less about just pressing buttons off coodown.

The top 4 win rate characters are Zacian, Comfey, Mew, and Sableye, and they’re all above 53%… please somebody anybody fix the meta

I ran into something the other night that I would love to try with a couple of people who are willing, It was four supporters and one all-rounder and if I remember correctly it was Eldegoss, Clefable, Sableye, Blissey, and I believe the Tyranitar that they were boosting had some crazy through the roof attack powered bonuses, with as many small point goals as he made. I have to believe he was stacking with an attack weight, and I know the Tyranitar meta right now is based around using the focus sash but I'm pretty sure he swapped that out for something else considering

Comfey should be able to be knocked off a pokemon with high knockback moves. Dodrio drill run, Slowbro surf, last hit of Sableye knock off. It would be a nerf in coordinated play (where comfey is most broken) where you can set up a defender knocking off comfey and have a attacker or speedster one shot it before it can reequip

Every season one or two supporter is always broken

I have both Zacian and comfey, reality can be whatever I want

The Pokemon that have Comfy on it, l feel like that Mon have second life

This is just proof that a 1 ban per team just isn’t enough. We have enough Pokémon to at least do 2 per team. That way you can at least eliminate any potential threats.

League hat 3 bans per team when bans were implemented. then switched to 5 years later (they had well over 75 champs at that point). i kinda feel the amount of bans (between ranked and standard) should be slowly increased.i dont hink its the time for 5 bans per team, but it is the time for at least 1 ban on ALL gamemodes

@@JDReC100 At least 2 per team. 1 feels like its not enough. Considering with 1 you’d either have to deal with either Urshifu, Zacian, Blissey, Hoopa, Dodrio, etc. 2 per team allows both teams to strategize and come up with potential counters and maybe allow lesser utilized Pokémon to shine

What a coincidence that Comfey was released and "emergency buffed" right before the release of the _most broken Pokemon_ ever. Don't worry though! -It only took us 4 days but- We fixed the bug it was experiencing! And guess what? Zacian is _totally free to play_ just by completing this _super fun_ event that'll only take you a few weeks to finish it. Although, I guess if you _really wanted to_ you could buy this Pokemon and start playing it right away! _No pressure though_ :D lol ok for real though, characters like Comfey just sound like an elaborate ruse to make future releases more desirable and convince people to be more likely to purchase them rather than wait to obtain them for free.

Yes a nerf would be nice. Like if Comfie mounts a pokemon but that pokemon is stunned then it will dismount that pokemon & maybe even put a cooldown on the mounting. I bet that's the only nerf that is needed.

They should make the attaching mechanic on its unite move only, just like Angela from mobile legends to make its playstyle less lazy. I hate how comfey users can get good kda while doing the bare minimum. This is why I purposely play badly whenever I'm with a comfey.

Today on ranked i played as a pikachu and we had a comfey in our game, welp. We first of all won, but the other team did surrender, and i get them. Comfey is annoying in ranked

The thing about Zacian is that if you just nerf it it will probably be fine. Comfey on the other hand is just fundamentally broken. If they don’t fix this thing fast we’ll have another Zacian situation in the near future. Heck, if Lapras and especially Goodra for some god forsaken reason recieve damage buffs when they release we’ll be back in this same situation
