Great information -I did the air check on the hose and pitot pickup unit ..ran to the nearest marine store , paid $10 and replaced my pitot pickup in minutes , did the air check and everything is good !

Terrific,, w=except being a boat expert, why didn't you explain the very end of the pitot tube? My tube has an aluminum plug in the very end. Is this normal? Is the round end plugged so this will work, or did some previous owner stick something in there? Would like to know. My speedo don't work.

Could you have just drilled through the plastic to make the hole? That would be a very easy fix, it seems.

What is the black thing next to the air pickup? Just bought a bought a boat and something similar is laying next to the gas tank in the back, not mounted to anything

It is called a pitot, and it is pronounced "pee-toh"

My Speedo reads 48mph out of the water and doesn’t move when in the water. Also my tac reads like that one, around 1000rpm with engine off… why is that tolerable? My pickup tac reads 0 with engine off and then reads appropriately when engine is running Thanks In advance
