I have always thought the people from Mexico were hard working and relatively friendly. People from Venezuela in my option have alway came off as more aggressive and not as friendly. You go to a Mexican restaurant ran by Mexicans and they are happy. You go to a restaurant in Miami and a Cuban or Venezuelan will give you a cold bitter attitude.

@@BootsieTheGreek The reason America is in the position it is now, is because they were relatively unscathed during WW2 and the large industrial base/etc. created for the war effort. This allowed America to be seen as a reliable debtor who will be able to pay off the debt it accumulates. So in all reality, if it wasn't for WW2 and the massive amounts of debt that were accumulated since then to fund massive projects/etc., we wouldn't be in the position we are in. And it's unmanageable. Even now credit agencies are downgrading America or are threatening to do so. It's like the guy with a credit card with a good credit score racking up massive amounts of debt and claiming he is rich to his poor friend who doesn't have that good of credit..

Hello Pat, I'm a Mexican engineer. I've worked in the American automotive industry established in Mexico. Two points I'd like to share. First, American executives in Detroit don't care who assembles their cars; what matters is profit. Those lost jobs in the US industry will never return. Their workforce is overvalued and very expensive. They need to adapt, find other jobs, and stop complaining about Mexico 'stealing their jobs.' Second, China is doing what the United States has done with its capitalist system all along. It's just that now Americans don't like it. American double standards always come back to bite them.

Well, what you say is true but what is also true is many citizens here are barely getting by. Without work for low to middle income, for which these cheap vehicles are marketed toward, there won’t be enough sales to justify the investment made AND the economy here will eventually plummet. So we’re all, eventually anyway, in a similar boat. The EV market isn’t going anywhere anytime soon if we don’t have the money to invest in the infrastructure to support it. Therein lies the jab.

As an American I can tell you that you are absolutely correct! It’s OBVIOUS to many smart Americans that American businesses only care about profits-even if they throw their own employees under the bus! And the policies that are currently in place as well as the new policies that are in the pipeline are killing our jobs and economy! And the worst thing is that it’s done on purpose by the Rothchilds, Rockefellers, George Soros, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Biden’s, Obama, etc and ALL evil elites with power and money!

Hi Pat, I'm a Mexican marketer working for a company in New York, but I live in Brazil. I see we're expanding and launching initiatives in Spanish to capture the Hispanic market. The treaty, known as TMEC, was renegotiated by Trump, who argued that the U.S. needed a better deal. Ultimately, this treaty turned out to be highly beneficial for Mexico. Additionally, there's a concept called nearshoring. It's not just companies from China relocating to Mexico; firms from all over the world are doing so. Therefore, I'd say using the word 'stealing' is not accurate.

Foreign direct investment. When you buy a home you compete against the world! That was not the case 50 years ago because the world was less interconnected. You praise China as a savior but in fact they can pollute all they want which defeats the purpose of having EVs! @0pTicaL EV's are expensive regardless where built. Nearly everything in an electric vehicle is of world market commodities. I.E., the world market determines the price. The labor hours involved in cars are quite minimal in modern production. Likely 10/15 maximum and continues to decline. Currently, it costs more to ship a car across the Pacific then the wage/labor differential between the U.S. and China.

Completely ignored in this video, but it is interesting to note: NAFTA is no longer in effect! This has been replaced by the United States-Mexico- Canada Agreement (USMCA), signed in 2020 says that 75% of the parts used must have Mexico/US/Canada parts. Otherwise, the tariff exemption does not apply. This, of course, then is assuming china and mexico are honest about where the supply comes from. Additionally, props to Mexico for now implementing their own tariffs: 5 - 25% on 90% of imports from China specifically. The working class is more than happy to work in my experience, but the people who start these companies refuse to put a cap on their profits to make the ethical choice to give back to their home country via the extra jobs and resources. I worked at a company a few years ago that made very large profits for manufacturing and selling non essential holiday decor. Their primary clientele were Americans who were paying them a boatload for these products. So naturally they shipped manufacturing to China, then slowly but surely outsourced the American call center to another country whos employees sounded close enough to Americans to stop the clients from escalating when being handed off to someone from elsewhere....Once again, this was a luxury item company owned by an American that already made money hand over fist for doing something non essential. So naturally lets ship all of the labor overseas so we can save even more money.

America is doing exactly the same thing to Europe. Multinational American companies open a 'European' branch in Ireland because in Ireland they pay less to nothing taxes and Ireland is part of the European market. They are using loopholes like China is now using. Nothing new here. in the 70' and 80' the auto industry has massively invested in Ontario (Canada) for the same reasons. to make more money by investing in a commercial partner of America. Canada had commercial accords with the U.S. (Auto Pact) that was so good it incite Japanese and Korean auto makers on build plants in Canada. Same kind of loopholes used by China today.

Opening up branches of a company in another company is not a foreign concept and totally different than what China is doing. China is sending regular white people to auctions to buy up land for them then transfer property in their name. I’m talking about they’re buying up farm land here! That’s after everything we buy has a “made in China” tag on it for years now!!!

Division within the Mexican community and among other races only serves to further marginalize and disenfranchise already vulnerable populations. Economic finger-pointing and elitism do not address the root causes of issues but rather exacerbate societal divides.

Tariffs are design to discourage local consumer to buy overseas items....in this case its China. Americans will choose USA products which are of higher quality than Chinese products, because the Chinese products will become more expensive or at the same price as the American items in the same category.... which most Americans will chose US items because the quality is better. Which will overall boost the American economy. @@javiervega1065you never been here I can tell . Maybe in the south of Mexico and towards the western Michoacán and Jalisco region but here in Queretaro , San Luis Potosí , eastern Guanajuato, Mexico State and the capital it’s one of the highest standards of living in Mexico and you do see some poverty but these people have 4 cars in their small brick home driveway and got a shop down the street . The poor are asset heavy regardless even if it’s petty stuff and most of the poor are buisness owners with small food stands etc . The thing is the poor are productive here so there is growth . Not the welfare queens in the US which produce nothing of value that’s the difference between the poor in Mexico and the US . Every year more people enter the middle class here in Mexico . There are several “channel” countries China uses not only Mexico. Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos, etc are in those countries too. They ship parts to these countries and finalize assembly there to then ship to their final destination: usa and Europe. So we either raise tariffs to all commercial partner countries of China and risk becoming isolated or just accept that manufacturing jobs will never come back, US workers don’t even want those sweat shop jobs.

Yup, I experienced the same thing at the company I worked for a few years ago. The company was making money hand over fist for seasonal items that were not necessary purchases in any way. They moved manufacturing to China, but kept the call centers local in the U.S. because Americans like to talk to Americans and would escalate when they were handed off to someone from elsewhere. Slowly but surely the company tested the water in different foreign call centers globally as a part time solution to see how different centers would do. They ended up finding one where the phone operators sounded close enough to a standard English accent to remove the escalation problem before fully shipping the call center over there to pay them less....Once again, this was a luxury item company owned by an American that already made money hand over fist for doing something non essential. So naturally lets ship all of the labor overseas so can save even more money.

@@javiervega1065 I never stated that America should never make anything. I am stating that many companies that started off in America, which were built by American employees and American consumers. Then the companies left America because the owners of these companies wanted more profits instead of sharing their profits with Americans. For example Ford was founded in America and now most if not all of the manufacturing is done in Mexico. Now that Ford no longer has to hire Americans they have reduced their overhead cost. At the same time by moving to another country they have reduced labor rates, less environmental restrictions and still charge Americans higher prices for their products. It was Americans who built the Ford Company. If they truly cared about America they would have stayed in america. Second point is that America has always maintained high standards in the past through heavy labor laws and environmental laws. These laws help protect America and to keep us the best. Take for example DuPont who polluted our American drinking waters and only got a slap on the wrist for contaminating our water resources. This American company should be allowed to exist in business. people should have gone to jail over that. Think about it. By damaging the water supply we are damaging our children's water supply, our grandchildren's water supply and future generations. Every American should have the right to live their dreams, build a better country, and have the right to attempt to prosper in this country. At some point we all must realize that there is a time to make a profit and there is a time to protect America. I believe in American ingenuity but taking American Ingenuity into other countries at reduced standards and selling it back to Americans for high prices makes no sense to me when Americans are losing jobs and forced into buying inferior products that are manufactured in other countries.

They set up shop and legally can staff 50% of their labor force with Chinese and the rest Mexicans. So- a loophole. They’re also doing it in Guatemala, Peru, Honduras- the list goes on. Koreans are also doing the same in SE Asia and Central America. Not uncommon and has been done for a long time. The difference is the incentive to not conduct labor or physical making of product in China anymore. But the profits are still lining Chinese pockets.
