"The music Videooww iiis dehd!" at the beginning! lol!! Still cracking up! Jesse for the W! hahahahaha
Jesse, this is so rad! Ever since you reviewed the Shaboozey video in the members-only session, it’s completely changed my perspective on music videos and I’ve been thinking about how to pull off the visualizer concept 🤘

My newest release is a song I wrote when I was a teen, so I always had a vision of what the music video might look like. It’s about summer, so I tried to hurry up and release it this summer, since I took too long to release it last summer. It just so happened that I was going to Mexico in May, so I was like, why don’t I film the video there? I always envisioned the video with heavy beach content. I had also gone to Virginia Beach the week before and gotten some footage from there. The song release was actually pushed back a month because I was trying to release it in May, but I really wanted this footage, and some pictures for the cover art and promotion. The date ended up working out though because I released it on the first day of summer. Everything was filmed on an iPhone because my camera doesn’t have autofocus. And some clips are even filmed with the front facing camera because I didn’t want to wake my sister up after a night of partying to film at 5 am at the beach lol. I would say I produced a minimum viable video because of how low budget and low tech it was, but depending on who’s watching, I’d consider it a medium viable video because the editing took way longer than I would’ve liked because I had hundreds of clips to make a three minute video. The video was supposed to come out the same day as the song, but I was slacking with the editing and didn’t release it until two days later. But it is super important to have the video on release day because without it, all you can really do is post the album art (with the music on IG now) and say stream my song. Or use the song in the background of a TikTok (or lip syncing) in the meantime. I’m def gonna still do the basic TikTok’s, but I need this particular video to convey the true vibe of the song I was going for.
I’m noticing the same trend with social media posts too

@@Musformation I just scrolled through Sophie powers reels. the ones with elaborate backgrounds and colours aren’t always performing better than a simple 1 shot. A lot of her big big views are really simple videos compared to her other ones that clearly had a lot more effort put into the visuals.
Funny thing is...I have heard thousands of new (big) releases in the past few years of a variety of artists in different genres, but I have never heard of any of these artists 😄 Thanks for the tips.

I am paid to be plugged in and as are all my friends and every week someone will say to us “you’ve never heard of fickle flavid?!??” Then you look and they have 17 million fans and sound like artists you like 🤷♂️

thanks for calling it out, the reality is that any clickbait headline is gonna get gamed, "______ is dead. You MUST do this instead" type headline. They build the video around the hype headline without even regarding whether what they are saying is actually true.... keep it real MFs.

Bro, what are you talking about? I’ve watched this video like three times and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it.
Almost all of the artists that you mentioned were already established before releasing these videos. Shaboozey - Featured on the into the Spiderverse soundtrack Bilmuri (Johnny Franck) - Former member of Attack Attack Dasha - Let's be honest here....very attractive and also signed to a label since 2020 Jaden Smith - Will Smiths kid The average person releasing this kind of stuff is going to go completely unnoticed. And that goes for if you release a higher quality video or a cheap one. In my opinion, what we as artists should be doing is focusing on getting better at your craft instead of BS marketing. We also need to step back and reevaluate what success actually means. It would be nice to get back to quality over quantity
@Musformation
19 күн бұрын
I show every week other artists who did it. Also dasha was dropped when she released that video and signed after the viral hit. I didn’t put the other examples in cause I wanted this to be quick and show how big it can go.

@@Musformation I don't understand what that last sentence means. If what you're selling is that putting a cheap video out will get you as much attention than one that would take up more resources. Then it would make more sense to give examples of everyday artists who have done just that. And if we're being honest. Dasha is getting clicks because she's a very attractive and dancing in cut off shorts. So whether a video of her is shot on a phone or by Speilberg.....she's going to get clicks
Is this a video or an ad? Jesus. This is worse than pop up ads
