Big innovations include the boards for roulette and baccarat. I broke in at the Gold Coast when they had no boards for either game. They also didn't have peekers on the blackjack tables.

i agree with David and most people here, my first trip to vegas was in the late 1990s. 99cent shrip cockails at Golden Gate, Foot long Hotdog at New Frontier (cheap). Fun books at Slots-o-fun. I would be sure to drop at least $20 in a slot machine while visiting knowing that they were loss leaders. I just came to vegas to kill time and have a fair chance at a win. Winning $100 or more on a slot machine was a fantastic feeling. I miss the old Las Vegas. (Shareholders) creating the greed of profit, profit, profit. thats killing the vibe in las vegas right now.

Vegas is the way it is now due to lack of competition, back in the day almost every casino was owned by a different entity. Now corporations are forced due to shareholders to get a profit from every aspect of the business. Food, drinks, entertainment, rooms, etc.

It's not so much that casinos are trying to screw players as that players either don't care or actively resist advice that will help them. Even though it's indisputably true that the best bets in craps are Pass, Come, Don't Pass and Don't Come, all with at least 1x odds.... and that these bets have half the house edge of the ever-popular place bets on the 6/8.... I get nothing but insults and derision every time I try to educate players about it. These players have absolutely no understanding of probability, they don't know the meaning of house edge, but they insist they can learn nothing from anyone else, and that if a bet is popular, that proves that it's the best (which is the only argument they have).

I can testify how true this is. Just got back from Vegas and seeing 6:5 BJ tables packed at Paris, Bally's LV (Bally's AC is FAR better than its Vegas counterpart nowadays with all 3:2 games with Surrender and all), and the Golden Nugget made me cringe. I have to single out the Nugget in particular as not only did I not see any 3:2 for less than $50/hand in the high limit area, but the signage revealing whether the game in question was 3:2 or 6:5 used a very small font on its display--which made it harder for me to discern what kind of payout said BJ had for a Natural without being close to the table. Thank God for places like South Point---where $10 3:2 Double Deck BJ still reigns supreme.

OMG we went several times a year to Vegas, we started staying DT at the Vegas Club and moved to Station Casino way before they built the tower. Station Casinos are for us by far the Best Casinos ever, heck we would go there for a long weekend and never leave the property. Our 1st Casino was in around 1995 it is the here in Missouri. If we ever go back to Vegas you will be our 1 and only stop. Enjoy all your Videos, David, Alex and Dennis, you are all so Fantastic, Friendly and Informative. Watched your trip to Oklahoma and you and Dennis driving home .. by the way we will never go to the Monarch LOL. Thank You for all the information you share. I think they are cheating at black jack. I can play with two decks at home and no matter if I play one hand or two, I can win 50% of the hands, In two decks I can deal about 20 hands, I win 9, 10, 11, of twenty very consistently, and dealer wins 9, 10, 11 very consistently. But I can go to a casino and lose 5-10 times back to back sometimes, and go bankrupt quite often... .. So why the difference? I don't think they are deciding every hand, but I do think the shuffle machines are shuffling in a way that's favorable for the casino some how

Warning: long story from someone who doesn’t really know the technical terms for these things, but I’m learning :) What you’re seeing is the application of computer based profit maximization. Giant data analytics engines figure out exactly what they need to do to maximize profit, while sacrificing some people’s happiness ultimately losing some customers they are still making more money. Take for instance classic ticket pricing: set a couple of price tiers to make sure that the best seats get filled for the highest value and then have enough demand to fill the medium seats and let the cheap seat fill themselves. Enter modern pricing: Find out what the highest price you can set where demand actually dips below supply but highest total value is preserved…. Say 50% of people are willing to pay an outrageous price and the rest of the seats remain unsold, but you still sold end up with more total money in the end. Rather than make the people happy and take slightly less profit, you squeeze out every drop from them. This model does not account for long-term stability of the property however. Eventually customers will become upset and you will lose loyalty. The problem in Las Vegas is that there are so many people from around the world coming that it’s unlikely for those numbers to go down enough for them to get the message

You stated "place bets pay better"? No they don't. Free odds pays better. Explain to me how getting paid 7 to 6 is better than getting paid 6 to 5. So to get free odds you make Pass and Come bets for table minimum. Who cares if you're "anchored to a contract"? Why is that bad? How much money is that worth to you? You're willing to win less to avoid "anchoring", whatever that means? We play this game to win, not to "avoid anchoring". Give me one real reason that "anchoring" is so bad that it's worth sacrificing winnings to avoid it. Being paid less to "avoid anchoring" makes as much sense as being paid less to use yellow instead of red dice. You're giving up real money and getting something meaningless in return. Plus, every contract bet WINS 49.3% of the time! (Placing the 6/8 wins only 45% of the time). Pass and Come are great bets, even if it WEREN'T for the free odds... there is ZERO downside to contract bets. I'll take "anchoring" if that means I win more. You go on and on about how important payout tables are in slots and keno, but you have a blind spot when it comes to craps. House Edge is EXACTLY the same as a payout table. A high house edge is EXACTLY the reason why triple-0 roulette is a bad bet. You obviously know these concepts but you don't apply them to craps. When it comes to craps, the best house edge for the player is Pass and Come bets (as well as DP and DC) with at least 1x odds (odds working on the come-outs), which is a house edge of 0.8% (less than 1%). No other bet or strategy comes close to that low.

Given the same total wager, Place bets pay better… until you get to some high odds multiples. Place bet 6or8 $30 pays $35 , $10 come with x2 odds ($20) pays $10+$24 =$34. Even if you have a $5 minimum, place 6 pays $35 still vs come $5 with 5x odds ( $25) pays $35 so you’re tied there but that’s it. ( and the difference only increases… $60 place=$70, come $20 w x2 odds ($40) = $68… etc etc

@@MurderMostFowl you are totally ignoring the LIKELIHOOD OF WINNING. You can't just look at payout and avoid likelihood. A place bet on 6/8 may "pay better" but it only has a 45% chance of winning. Come and Pass bets have over a 49% chance of winning, which makes their slightly lower payouts pay MORE because you WIN MORE OFTEN. You are also ignoring wins in 7/11 first rolls on Pass and Come bets (as if they don't exist) in your "calculations"
