How Cancel Culture Cancelled Us | Abigail Thompson | TEDxClearLakeHighSchool
As a person intending to go into the arts and mass media communication, Abigail takes pride in being up to date on popular culture, which means having to learn an entirely new vocabulary of internet jargon in order to stay up to date on the current trends. Among the new terms is the word “cancel” which has led to the temporary banishment of several public figures from the public eye. As an avid member of the International Thespian Society and an advocate for the arts, Abigail strongly believes that the time to acknowledge the toxicity of so-called “cancel culture” is now, before it ruins careers, desensitizes society to toxic behavior, and lays waste to the work of a new generation of artists. Abigail hopes that with education and compassion, we will all learn to express our opinions in respectful ways that positively contribute to the online landscape. This is my most favorite ted talk that I’ve ever seen I love you so much
I liked it. Thank you! Carry on with the awareness talk and hopefully we can all foster better education on this matter :)
Very good thank you for sharing
I rarely go on social media and usually delete my accounts from not wanting to use them. I'm 21, I stopped heavily using social media when I was aprominently 16 years old. I think the newer generations take social media too seriously. People should connect with the real world more. Social media is fun and can connect people, however, it's better to set the phone down once in a while and live life. Avoid mob mentality and remember the internet isn't a healthy tool for socialization.
Well done!
Thank you.
