Yes, I couldn't believe when Representative Byron Donalds said, ". . . and then Lyndon Johnson and then you go down that road and we are where we are." It is as if he doesn't know that without Lyndon Johnson there would have been no, > CIVIL RIGHTS ACT OF 1964 or > THE 1965 VOTING RIGHTS ACT. In fact it was Johnson's support of blacks in America that led to the complete dismantling of Jim Crow laws and caused the Southern Democrats to become Republicans. SMH

YES! Byron Donalds should never mentioned Jim Crow. He should have stated that families were stronger from 1890 to 1950 and despite open racism and widespread poverty, strong black families used to be the norm. But the mention of Jim Crow was outrageous. White supremacists and the Far Right along with QAnon and all the other weirdos have and will excuse, defend and dismiss the tragedies of Jim Crow. Donalds’ mention and connecting strong families with Jim Crow era is going to be used to further write off the harsh history of that period. This is extremely worrisome when more and more school districts (especially in the South) are curtailing their history curriculum and eliminating their Civil Rights programs. We got young generations who don’t know about that time period. Who don’t appreciate the struggles and now hear from people like Donalds talking as if it was some kind of golden period of black families.

Go listen to Byron Donald's own words and you will see that he speaks the truth. During the Jim Crow era, there was more of a nuclear family for all Races. Why use the term Jim Crow? Because clearly in the Jim Crow era, that was a low for racism in America, and yet black families stayed together without the help of white men. Then unfortunately white men started interjecting their progressivism, and all Races started to lose the nuclear family, not just black families. Unfortunately though, the white progressivism disproportionately affected the black families more for the worse.

The ignorance of it all is what bothers me. He doesn't understand how black people lived during that time. He doesn't even realize that Jim Crow began in the 1870s. He doesn't know that black men had to leave home and work away from the family to send money home and that black women had to work in white people's homes to make extra money. To him in the 30s-50s they had the black Brady Bunch going on and that's not true. Al Sharpton is right the divorce rate rose throughout all America and not just in the black community. Did he not pay attention that the conservative criticism of blacks in the 1960s is the same thing he is spewing now? Jim Brown was on a talk show in the 1960s listening to this same crap coming from a Conservative Democrat.

They just conveniently left out the other truth that black people weren't free to do anything on their own. Funny how that pesky factoid gets in the way of their whitewashed historical BS.

When I heard him on National television, I took it upon my brain and I’m pretty smart and intelligent woman that he was insinuating during that timeframe that Life was better for Black people who were married to Black people which was very shocking to hear him say that, because according to history which we were taught history in our family, and even in our schools and Chicago is just as of late, they do not want TO teach history in the schools by telling the truth to the children because they know their parents are caught up with trying to live their youth through their children instead of growing up and teaching their kids N the proper form of living N this world>. I did not take his comment personal. I took his comment as an insult to even associate the two together like that was the best of times in America. Do you know anything about sharecropping or anything which come across as being a very intelligent, black man, and personally, we don’t care who you’re marriedtoo, I pray you and your wife are teaching your children history.

Jim Crow laws inception beginning in 1865 is a period of time used by historians and economist who track societal trends which ended with the new era beginning with civil rights laws in 1965 and the policy of socially engineered integration. The latter and more modern period have been said by many to have destroyed the black family through welfare subsidies driving out black men and causing female dependency on the government and thus single households. The eugenics philosophy of planned parenthood targeting the abortion of black babies and the destruction of the black middle class by taking desegregation and replacing it with coerced integration which caused blacks to not depend almost exclusively on black business which was the case during Jim Crow and now taking that business to white doctors, dentist, banks, etc. and thus business ownership besides destitute ghettos is now the norm. It's the insidious and ugly truth people won't tell you about the statistical devastation of the black community beginning after Jim Crow. No one is saying Jim Crow was benign, it's genesis and execution by the Democratic party was anything but.

That is an elementary school response: "You're lying". Those words are an absolute sign of emotional immaturity, but yet they are dangerous and provocative and tend to be used by people who can't be trusted any further than you could throw them.

He never said Jim Crow was the reason black families were together just that during that era black families were higher. You could claim maybe he should have said the 1950s but to imply that he thinks it was a good era is nonsense.

It has been most difficult to hear African-Americans supporting racism by lying that they DO NOT. It is too difficult to hear them support racism that even many White people don't. I give support to the non African-American folks that have given support to fight against the new breed of denialists. Save your breath and VOTE.
