Aspartame has terrible shelf life, coke and pepsi have been aching to get rid of it forever (in the 2000s they both tried to do Splenda versions) but that weird mix of subtlety sweet, mildly caffeinated, and refreshingly not syrupy have kept loyal consumers THIRSTY.
