There is just something so deeply authentic and joyful in watching your experiences. I sit here with the big C, itching to get out and immerse myself in the landscape but just can’t at the moment. Your advent series is a superb substitute right now. I wanted you to know just how much your efforts impact others. Watching you run around in circles as the first light appeared was infectiously funny but we all recognise and share that feeling. Keep them coming Henry, they speak to people in ways you probably don’t realise.

Now then soft lad, don’t ever feel afraid to show the emotion that you’re feeling amongst the wonderful scenery. How could you not be overcome by such beauty? The sea has the same effect on me. As a young man in the Royal Navy, my duties took me up on deck every hour of my watch to check the oil levels on the ship’s boats. Some early mornings, with nobody else around ,surrounded by the vast openness and the endless skies, I would sit for a few minutes and be overcome by the sheer vastness and never ending beauty of it. The sea always fills me with wonder. Some spectacular photos there Henry. Thanks

I’ve traced my mother’s lineage back to Scotland. They immigrated to Northern Ireland in the mid 1600s and to America in the mid 1700s. Your images of Scotland evoke a sense of comfort and well being. Hard to explain. Love your channel.

Simply awesome Henry. Every single second of this video is the reason why you are the number one watch for me. You weren't up there on your own, but with another 2000 or so followers watching. I remember watching one of your earlier videos when you went up there for your own birthday treat (I think) and this inspired me to go up there for a few days. Just stunning, right, I am going to watch it again now I have said my bit.

This has got to be one of the most wholesome videos you have ever done. That scenery really was jaw dropping, I actually think you have it at the best time of year, when the orange and red lower slopes of the mountains contrast with the light dusting of snow on the peaks! I love exploring and hiking it Scotland, did the West Highland Way earlier this year and was blown away by the photography scenery, already hoping to make another trip there this April, I can see why people love it so much, it has many similarities with my home Ireland but there is just something about the expanse of the place that hits different.

Hey Henry, I completely understand your feelings about Scotland. It’s such an evocative landscape and that feeling of being “home” is something we share. I’m always struck with an overwhelming desire to stay whenever I visit and I’m frequently emotionally charged when heading North. Once I’m up to Loch Lomond I just can’t escape that feeling of being at home, at one with nature and simply being where I feel happiest. It’s a strange feeling indeed and I’m unsure of the rhyme or reason. I must have been a well heeled Laird in a previous life!! Brilliant upload, love your work and inspirational uplifting presentation so keep it going and keep an eye open for property in the highlands, I know I am 😜👍👍👍

I have the connection with Austria. We go there every summer on vacation, and every time I get there it feels like coming home. Not even only for the photography, of course also for that, but just only being there. The beautiful mountains, the fresh air (it's such different air than in the Netherlands!), the rivers, the lakes.. Love it there! The image at 11:50 is stunning!! Also 15:00 and 20:45 are breathtaking!

Once you are there and immersed in the scenery I don’t think you can help but feel as you did. I was on a beach at Morar in mid July a few years back with a friend. It was dead still, the sun was going down behind Skye and it looked like it was glowing from within and moon had come up and was casting light across the water of a little rocky inlet in front of us. We took no photos, we just stood there crying. The images are in my head, always.

What a truly beautiful place and oh my gosh a photographers dream conditions Henry! I'm not surprised you got emotional, entirely with you with that one, when you connect with the scene in front of your eyes and feel the joy from what you are digesting. Gorgeous images ( personally I feel the Nikon adds to the quality ). I have a similar connection with the North Norfolk Coast of England, as it is local to me, always different and so beautiful, especially when you get conditions like you had here. Always take my camera, can't miss out!

Great video as always. I think other than your roots, Scotland is a dream for a photographer. Immense place, wilderness ay every corner, mountains, water, wildlife, the snow, the frost, the landscape, amazing trees. Just perfect. I am not fit enough to climb and photograph what you do, but I have a deep connection with Scotland when I see photos or videos, and yet I am French from the Mediterranean area. So what you said makes sense. Makes you feel free. Loved your excitement. Was so emotional and beautiful to see.

We know we live in the best part of the UK, for scenery at least, this special feeling, incase you haven't worked it out, is because you feel like you belong. like part of you is home. if you love Scotland, it will love you.

I think it is worth harping on about taking all of the shots you might need, especially for those who won't be able to come back to a location they are visiting. A lot of older folks are taking those once in a lifetime trips now. It would be a shame in this digital era, to come home with an almost shot of the favorite thing you saw, because you didn't focus stack or bracket, as a just in case safety net. Fine video, Henry. Beautiful location.

Absolutely superb video Henry, as young 20 yr olds we used to regularly motorcycle up to the highlands 2 or 3 times a year for about 15 years from Portsmouth so it was quite a trek, we absolutely loved every trip and never wanted to come home, photography was part of it but not the main part, that was just being there, our longest non stop ride was to Portree, 708 miles...anyway that was a long time ago, I now, at 64 want/need to go back but it scares me I'm not sure if I can handle the emotional aspect. Now I'm bang into photography I can picture all the beauty that we saw and imagine capturing it all again, especially now I roughly know what I'm doing! I'd fly up this time though and hire a car, that's what older age does for you. There's something about the highlands that has kept calling me.

There are places that you or anyone who visits, where the beauty of the landscape captures your heart , but not many burn deeply into your soul. Like you, and I suspect many others too, I share a very deep love for Scotland. as far as I know, I have no Scottish blood in my line, but that love and a deep spiritual connection is there. the place that gets me most is Glencoe, I've given up trying to understand it, or to rationalise it. It just affects me deeply and emotionally, it's always a wrench to leave and I always have a strong desire to return (Isle of Harris in March 2024, whoop, whoop!), whenever I can. Henry I love your passion for photography, and also for my homeland. I going to retire early next year, and will be following in your footsteps, in part the inspiration was your book of Scottish locations. Just keep doing what you are doing!

Fabulous Henry and your photos did it all justice. I especially love the drone photo showing the light on the left. Cheers from NZ

I have very much the same feeling of Eryri (Snowdonia) in North Wales. I’m from the area and now live in South Wales. The whole of Eryri is so very special to me and know exactly how you feel. This has to be one of your best videos for me.

Fantastic Henry, nailed those images... and the enthusiasm you show, even in the middle of a freezing cold night at -4 degrees C... Great videos too... 😊👍👌

Some excellent shots in there. I am in Scotland so, yeah. 😉 I can relate so much to the middle section of this video. Hike to a preconceived shot and realise that there is a better angle round the corner. Grab a shot and run like a daftie for the next shot. Oh, it would be better from up there....all while the light is changing. Best part is that even if none of the shots work it is still a really good day out. Out.

I’m a Scot so my connections are in Scotland but 3 specific areas: 1) Galloway for the variety and history, 2) Deeside, my family homeland and 3) Assynt, scene of my childhood holidays and so special my work computers network name was assynt for many years(until the IT guys insisted on the much more boring “Floor2-004”…) I loved the sunrise pano and the drone shot of Stac Pollaidh. Finally, if you haven’t already visited you need to get yourself into Coire Mic Fearchear at the back of Ben Eighe in Torridon. Sunrise or sunset with the light on the cliffs is stunning.
