It's the classic Fox News effect. Every time a "left" leaning politician gets elected into office, the following things happen. 1. Right wing media goes into panic mode, creates extreme hyperbole that "the left is encouraging a takeover" by some sort of minority. 2. Right-wing audiences start to believe the story of the "takeover" (which doesn't exist) so they decide to "fight back" against said people by harassing the minority. 3. The harassment becomes too much, people start to tune out and take a break from dark humour 4. Comedians complain about the low turn out for their show, so they blame it on the left, rince and repeat In the end, the left did absolutely nothing, but still somehow get most of the blame.

@@insertnamehere5146 Hey :) That's not what I'm talking about, I love comedy, especially the dark one, Anthony Jeselnik for instance. I just don't find it very creative to make jokes at the expense of minorities who have been ridiculed (or slaughtered) for centuries. There's enough other topics, but they require more creativity. And it's interesting to me (as a gay person) that the same people who demand of queer people (for instance) to not be so sensitive get furious in a second if someone makes a joke at their expense as a straight person and start to scream that this has to stop. I love jokes about gay people, but even more if they not just stupidly repeat stereotypes, but have an innovative, surprising twist. What's creative about calling the person ching chong chinaman? That's just laughing along with outdated stereotypes and slurs, there's no twist in it, you can hear it on school yards every da. I just think that comedy can should do more than this kind of puberty jokes. (English isn't my first language, hope it's understandable.)
