Calvinism wrecked my world, I am not the same person I was, I don't witness and have the love for the lost like I use to, I constantly agonize over if I am of the elect, I can't pray because I don't know if I am one God loves and I can't read the bible without anxiety, fear and condemnation. I am so glad I heard your testimony and your exhortation to get back to the word and let the Holy Spirit teach me.

I’m sorry you’re going through all of that, I really feel for you and know what mental anguish like that can be like. Yes, get back to the Word and listen to the Holy Spirit. Just keep going with God. This stuff is so evil because it pushes you AWAY from God rather than to Him. Try to remember that going towards God is ALWAYS what is right, and resist ANYTHING that tries to tell you otherwise ❤️‍🩹

Dr James White has taught me more about understanding scripture and other doctrines, than my own pastor. I'm not a Calvinist, but I am trying to understand how soteriology works. I have learned a lot from Dr Flowers also. I got to meet Dr Flowers through James White......Calvinist have many faults, but they are the best teachers and students of the Bible in my opinion.

@@eswn1816 Yes, many of my favorite sermons on a subject are preached by a Calvinist. They have good teachers who help me understand more than just the milk. I reject Calvinism though. All I got at my church was milk. James White program taught me so much about church history and Bibles and apologetics.

This is truly heartbreaking. Anyone else notice how Calvinists in this video never mention faith? They talk about grace and what God does for us and how he has to change your heart but they continually neglect faith. Why? Because grace, because what God does for us comes through faith! A non-meritorious belief, not a work! It’s so sad seeing people like Rogan or Shapiro who have huge audiences listen to people who can’t even and wont even attempt to “square the circle”. They toss it aside just like they do with faith…

One thing calvinists often say against the "if calvinism is true why even bother preaching the gospel? People are uncapable of even believing unless God Miraculously changes them. So why bother?", is that preaching the gospel is the way and means God uses to reach his elect and because he says so.... i wonder, if we are uncapable of even believing, why would God choose a means to reach HIS ELECT, that implies that they indeed are capable of choosing? Wasn't the means "preaching the gospel" and "1 peter 3:15" supposed to imply that people indeed can respond "Yes" to the gospel?

With all respect to my calvinist brothers and sisters, and i still believe that they are saved, that they are my brothers and sisters in Christ... it hurts me to with this video, arrive to the conclusion i was trying not to... that calvinism is diabolical. I never agreed with calvinism and it always felt intuitevely unbiblical and untrue to me. However after watching this video knowing the implications it brought to these people in case calvinism is not true... i have to come to the conclusion that it is indeed a demonic doctrine.

Catholics are well meaning, Mormons, Muslims, are all well meaning in their beliefs. If I say that “God is a murderer” we’d say “blasphemy”. If I say “God ordained, by divine decree, to give to man the desire, irresistibly and unavoidably, to murder another man” we say brother in Christ Calvinist? I struggle with this.

A calvinist would have to answer that God would still save people regardless, for no reason whatsoever. There is no other possible answer besides that

I’ve had Calvinism in the back of my mind for a while, even though I was never one. I can see truly it is unpalatable.

These people actually set themselves up as lords over the Gospel, as if it belongs to them. Sick! All I can think of is the Scripture that says” you travel to the ends of the earth to make a convert, and make them twice a son of hell as you are”, and “ you keep people from entering and you yourselves do not enter” . Very scary!!!!!!

The week before the Covid shutdown of America I attended a debate in Utah between Kwaku El and a Christian. The place was packed and I was looking forward to seeing this Christian systematically deconstruct the Mormon religion. My hopes were soon dashed. Kwaku quickly made the debate about Mormonism vs Calvinism. The Calvinist should have pointed out that there are other views of Christianity to consider and to keep the focus of the debate in mind -- it was not supposed to be a debate about Calvinism. Instead, he took the bate and lost the debate. When the curtains are pulled back and Calvinism is exposed for what it really is, it is horrifying. That's exactly what Kwaku did and the false god of Mormonism looked way better than the false god of Calvinism. I was the first one to the mic for the Q&A session. I quickly pointed out how Molinism can answer the problems Kwaku was offering. When the debate was over I had a really nice talk with him and his colleagues.

I interpret it as "A Great Many, Even Possibly A Majority or even a "Large Majority" by the passages, especially that men will be so few that many women will take/beg one man to take them all as his wives; yet the nation of Israel will survive. And their may still be Hebrews living outside of Israel, who move back to Israel after the destruction. I'm still open to interpretations of that.

​@@guygiffordThere is a pattern that is established though - people sin and are punished usually through being exiled they repent and are restored. Holocaust stands out because it didn't happen when Israel was a nation it happened to exiled Jews who were scattered among the nations.

I find it strange that James White and Jeff have "Babies are murdered here" on the wall (talking about their stance on abortion) but at the same time believe that God eternally decreed abortion to happen for his "glory".

While God does take the evil of this world to bring about something good (something that’s ACTUALLY of Him) He takes no pleasure in the destruction of humanity. @@dustinnyblom7835 Jeremiah 19:5 God doesn’t decree, ordain, or even think of child sacrifice. In no way does it glorify Him. Those things are sins which He has sent His Son to redeem! How could he redeem his own decree if it’s truly of and from Him?

Calvinism is embarrassingly easy to refute from Genesis to Revelation beginning with their foundation: 1) their definition of sovereign and 2) Miticulous Determinism. When these 2 are refuted by God's breathed words, the other 7 points, which includes Tulips 5 Points, are also refuted, have no place to root.

this was heart breaking. glad you shared it though--we need to appreciate how fully Calvinism fails and the harm it does not just to those under it, but even to those outside the faith.

You are right to give a trigger warning. Infuriating!

I find it sad that rather than reading the entire flow of scripture, Calvinist theology lifts chapters and verses and ignores the context of scripture as a whole word of God.

I wonder if this is how they were taught to read in grade school? Or in middle school, working on a book report assignment? "Ok class.... I want you to go directly to the middle of the novel, in the middle of a chapter, and pluck out a couple of sentences from the middle of a paragraph and give me an in depth book report in no less than 2000 words. You are allowed to bounce randomly around the novel and pick out a few other sentences to support your findings. Please disregard the other 462 pages. They're probably irrelevant to the rest of the story anyways and might cause some contradictions. Context is not necessary in this assignment." Do calvinists start other books, stories or articles in the middle? Why do so many read the word of God in this fashion? The Bible is a whole. Not bits and pieces of scripture from here and there that are used to support a man made doctrine 🤦‍♂️

So heartbreaking to hear those who can't know the love of God because they have been evangelized by Calvinism. I just want to reach out to them and extend the true Gospel. James White & Jeff Durbin are so infuriating! They are leading people to the gates of heaven and practically barring entrance. Whose side are they on? You can't be saved if you're not elect, so better you don't read about it - what?!?! And that debate with the Mormon gentleman.... I've watched the whole thing, and if I were in that room, I'd be defending him. Not mormonism - total cult - but their treatment of him. Grrrrrr! These examples of hyper-calvinism convince me that it's the doctrines of satan. Get people one degree off their course, and they'll never make it to their destination. I have done so much flip flopping on this topic. When I first heard about Calvinism from John Macarthur my gut reaction was to reject it but I listened to the arguments made by him and others as well as arguments from those who disagree, such as Dr. Flowers and others. My soul desire is to follow Christ as biblically as I can and be more like Him. Trying to understand both sides of this argument has been fatiguing. I love Christ and I praise Him for all he has done in my life, I just want to know Him and understand His word. In the last few weeks God has pointed me back to what is really important. Friends, just focus on Christ. There are so many voices out there and it is easy to become confused and overwhelmed. Focus on knowing Christ and who He says He is. Study His word, treasure it in your heart and develop a deeper love for Him. He will not hide Himself from you. You can sort through these doctrines of course but do not let it take you to a place of obsession. Do not leave your first love behind, He is all we have.

You should lean 80% towards reformed soteriology and be unwilling to plant your flag there. I've wrestled with it myself but the more I study, the more I grow in my walk and realize the nature of my salvation the more I realize it's all God, start to finish. The only part where scripture would disagree with Calvinism is in regards to limited atonement. Scripture clearly stated he died for the sins of the world. But scripture also states in John 16:9 that unbelief is a sin. Everyone really limits the atonements application. The disagreement is whether God or man limits it by their choice. It's clearly God. God doesn't just look down the corridors of time and choose all those that would choose Him. Man chooses and God chooses, yet God doesn't conform to mans choice. Just stay away from the "isms" and "ists." Remember, God is in the heavens and does whatever He pleases.

I see some of the arguments that are being made against reformed soteriology and I understand where the other side is coming from but I can't understand it biblically. They can break down a particular passage in isolation but I don't think it generally meshes well with the whole of scripture. It creates more confusion for me. Especially passages like John 6. Idk lol I think about my own salvation and I only see Gods hand in it, from beginning to end.

This is so well said my brother in Christ. I read about a young man who was heading off to seminary. AW Tozer was his friend and mentor. Before he left, the young man asked Tozer about his thoughts on the Calvinism/non-Calvinism debate. Tozer basically told him: My son, men will spend hours in the assembly areas debating the issue far into the nights. You go to your room and spend many hours alone with, getting to know and grow closer to your Lord and you will leave far better off than they... It's not that Tozer didn't hold to a position on the issue, but he understood the greater work we have to do in our service for and love of the Great I Am and Lord of Lords!

Thank you Dr. Flowers. I've listened to almost all of your videos and have been very encouraged. I am grieved with the Calvanism that is taught in our church. I feel trapped. If there was another conservative church in the area that didn't teach Calvanism, I would be tempted to leave my church. I love my church family ,so it would be very hard for me to leave.

The Mormon was not defending the character of God from any biblical basis but his emotional heretical Mormon theology, To make God more palatable for the heathen. If God predestined the most evil event of all time and it pleased him Isaiah 53:10 then why would it be out of the character of God to predestine events like the holocaust which are way less evil then the crucifixion? Acts 4:27-28 For truly in this city there were gathered together against Your holy [a]servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, 28 to do whatever Your hand and purpose predestined to occur.

@@urfriend919 You should become familiar with how a provisionist deals with certain passages before you start mocking them and assuming that they just ignore passages rather than looking at the context. Calvinism likes short little statements from the bible rather than reading within the intended context. You seem to like those same short statements mixed with your own assumptions. Be better than that.

James White says the unforgivable sin is attributing to God that which is not of God. He then goes on to attribute evil to God...Gotta read James 1:13-14.

Yep, Calvinism needs to be corrected and so does provisionist. Salvation is actually a death of who you are at the time. It is the old man dying. Like Jesus said, you must be willing to die to everything in this life and become a slave of Jesus Christ. People tried to save me or lead me to the Lord, but until I consciously knew that I have to die to myself and in so doing I stop being a slave of sin and become a slave of Christ. I also has to be willing to become a slave to Christ, BEFORE, God saved me. Are those works? Yes, but those works were a product of faith in God. None of us deserve heaven, we are all guilty before God. But God saved Abraham because of his works, which were a product of his faith. So he was saved because of his faith in God. Does God save all those who come unto him? Yes. Does coming to him in order to get saved require works of faith?? I do not think either system, quite explains how salvation takes place.

@@skyt54 Yes. I believe Calvinism, which is determinism, leads to atheism. Calvinism is such a dark philosophy of determinism, many Calvinist over generations become atheist or universalists because they are holding contradictory views of God at the same time in their mind. Calvinism leads to atheism or universalism, because it is theistic determinism which offers zero hope, even less hope then atheistic determinism.

Imagine being mad and cutting someone off because they said God loves everyone and doesn't want evil to happen. Smh I'm not a big Fan of James White although I respect his contributions to the faith like Forgotten Trinity. I'm not a fan of Jeff Durbin at all. That was a 2 on 1 debate. No they read and remember probably more than we do but they have a lense that puts it all to vain. They see the scriptures through the new understanding they learned. Romans 9 is usually a good chapter that clouds them. Paul in general confused people to begin with so perhaps that's why.

4:34 I'm currently in the Philippines but born and raised in California. Before I moved I was into apologetics and one of my favorite sources was Greg Koukl and Stand To Reason. He started as an associate pastor at a Church I went to and I still consider him a good friend even though separated by great distance. I'm glad to see Leighton take a brotherly attitude in his disagreement here. The determinism in Calvinism is one reason why I could only be somewhat Calvinistic. I'm finding a great deal of benefit from the teaching here, One of the things that resonates with me is that C S Lewis was not a Calvinist. Lewis is one of my favorite authors and his moral argument for the existence of God is at odds with the Calvinistic world view.

I don't think there is any Assurance of salvation Calvinisticly speaking. How the heck would you know? By doing "good works" ? Feeding the poor clothing the naked? There are self described heathens that do these things, or at least think they do a pretty good job of it. Amos 5:6 says, ....Seek the Lord, and ye shall live;..... I wonder if God says that's enough is it really "enough".?

@@frodomocho1211 That is correct. So how does one know if they are saved? I recieved Jesus Christ and baptized at 15 and I believed but I did not understand what I was doing and I was not saved although my family would tell me I was.

I'm a Latter-Day Saint and I would be happy to come on your show. Your brand of protestantism is refreshing. I served a mission in Alabama and I ran into Calvinists/Reformed all the time. We won't agree on everything of course, but I'm happy to focus on where we do agree.

It's so very sad. You can see that these folks who don't know Christ can assume from what they are saying that they have to have God "make" them believe it before surrendering. I see so many believing Christians struggle with doubt already as their faith is tried or tested (or they are simply confused by false teaching)... I can't imagine this burden on someone who is just considering Christ. It's ironic. That gal from Westboro, knew that scripture by heart, but she doesn't know the Lord... heartbreaking to walk away from something counterfeit and mentally rejecting the genuine because of that deception. Praying for all of these folks and likely those like them in other interactions, that they would all come to know the love of Jesus personally.

I have to admit I laughed, but it's really not funny, when James White was losing so badly to that poor Mormon kid on his radio show that Durbin had to jump in and interrupt. Determinism is philosophical poison. It can make a person look silly even when discussing with someone holding beliefs as looney as Mormonism.

This is painful to watch. TULIP is hampering the gospel message. It seems like some are more interested in the intellectual exercise of convincing people of their contentious doctrine instead of Christ dying and taking upon himself the sins of the world.

I hope this sweet young man gets as far away from the LDS church (and as far away from James White) as fast as he possibly can. That guy was willing to listen and engage and it was wasted with James White.

In the Book of Acts we have the apostolic church engaging in mission work throughout the Roman empire -- nearly 1500 years before the Reformation. It's disingenuous to suggests that I am stating that Calvinists started the work of missions to unbelievers

"You folks" What do you mean by "you folks?" ;) No in all seriousness, Leighton has mentioned the efforts calvinists past and present have made in evangelism. We have no issue recognizing their efforts. We do have some reservations with the consistency, and if/when it occurs the resistance they cause to the Gospel which was in this video today.

James White says "my god." Accept James at his word. He did not say the God of the Bible he said "my god." He has constructed a god that is not the God of the Bible. What makes him different from the Mormon he is debating? They have both constructed their own god outside of the God of the bible. They both point to the Bible as their authority. @@urfriend919 Regeneration is an act of God, not mans volition (John 1:13, Titus 3:5, Romans 8:30). God justifies and glorifies ALL that he regenerates. I find those that teach "conditional salvation" don't grasp this simple biblical truth and are likely natural men and unregenerate. One cant pass from death to life back to death and become unborn again.

They believe their lies, that it is the gospel. Hence, it should be called out as a 'Different Gospel'. Because it is not The Gospel.

5-Point Calvinism states that man is so totally depraved that he is unable to choose God or even want to! If you take a 1000 people and asked them to make a choice with these questions. Would you like to go to heaven and be with a loving God? or Would you like to go to Hell and be with a hate filled Devil? 1000 hands would go up and say Heaven!!! What totally depraved man choosing Heaven over Hell? Image that! Even a child has the sense to see that. @@urfriend919 In the Calvinistic mindset it is "Determinism vs Free-Will". This is the lens in which they are taught to view reality. However, it should be: "Is scripture true or do I need a special interpretation from learned people to tell me that scripture does not mean what it says". This is Calvinism in a nutshell -- a rationalization as to why scripture is not true.

Like ARK said they do evangelize, which shows they do not "really" believe what Calvanism teaches. Unless they are just a saved person in the pews who has no idea what Calvanism teaches. My favorite preacher is reformed. Like all Calvanists I get whiplash when they switch from preaching the bible to preaching Calvanism. Same vocabulary, different dictionary indeed.

But interestingly enough Calvinists played a significant role in the modern missionary movement. E.g., William Carey. Even John Calvin sent out scores of missionaries throughout Europe to preach the gospel

I don't believe calvinism is a false doctrine as Flowers argues but I do believe certain elements within that camp lacks empathy

The Bible tells us, there is no remission of sin without the shedding of Blood JMac also teaches that people in the tribulation period can take the mark and they will be saved at the end. Revelation begs to differ. These people are heretics .

JD Hall just listed Leighton as an “enemy” in his “polemic retirement” blog. Now you can really tell Leighton is on the right path with a guy like that on the opposite side!

@@innovationhq8230 That was only for the theocracy of Israel. We are not meant to do it, if it were otherwise, there would be some mention in the NT, but the NT tells us to pray for unbelievers and to love our neighbours, witches included.

Dr. Flowers' trigger warning was definitely needed. What followed perhaps was almost as painful as when Roy Rogers had to say goodbye to Trigger when the beloved horse died of old age before he could enjoy some Kwaku oats and Stuckey's pecan log rolls. Trigger did live long enough to possibly partake of James' White wonder bread.

With all respect to my calvinist brothers and sisters, and i still believe that they are saved, that they are my brothers and sisters in Christ... it hurts me to with this video, arrive to the conclusion i was trying not to... that calvinism is diabolical. I never agreed with calvinism and it always felt intuitevely unbiblical and untrue to me. However after watching this video knowing the implications it brought to these people in case calvinism is not true... i have to come to the conclusion that it is indeed a demonic doctrine.

These clips were painful to watch. More reason why Leighton should never stop teaching the truth on Calvinism.

Calvinists always ignore the words “what if God…” in that passage of Romans. There are many instances in Scripture where people question God, they were free to do so. God is so much bigger than our doubts and never killed anyone who asked him “why questions.

@@urfriend919 this is an in house discussion between Christians. You need to get right with the Lord. That should be your fist concern. If you paid attention the point is that we are told to pray and ask God to move in peoples lives that is part of our relationship with Him. But He has given us free will and will not force someone to change their heart. Admit you are a sinner then out your faith in Jesus and then repent. That is what you need to do.

Oh brother. In one of those clips, at about 43:15, the guy asks “What shall I do to be saved?” - the exact question the wealthy young man asked of Jesus. Did the Calvinist answer with Jesus’ words, which of course is the best answer? No. The Calvinist answers with Calvinist confusion, that it’s impossible for the unregenerate to be saved, even though Paul says with Jesus all things are possible. Calvinists’ version of Christianity is incompatible with Godly reasoning.

All are involuntary recipients of their wicked and totally depraved nature, and without God's divine predetermined plan for salvation, all will be burned forever for the good pleasure of His will to glorify Himself.

Considering the Mormon belief in eternal families via sealing (either in this life or after death), the Calvinist doctrine or election would certainly seem pretty horrific. Imagine spending your whole life believing you would spend the eternities with your family only to be told if they’re not elect they’re damned. It’s just sickening.

If we cannot trust that His will, will come to pass in the area of salvation, how can we trust that His will, will come to pass in any area?

Calvinists are saying, admitting, that the Potter is a sinner in Romans 9 because the clay cannot question the Potter per all Calvinists and the clay is doing what the Potter makes them do. However, Calvinists simply ignore Jeremiah 7: 31, 19:5, and 32:35; 1 Samuel 23:1-13, and especially Jeremiah 18 concerning the Potter and the Nations and National Israel and God's not doing what he planned if there is a turning either from wickedness or righteousness and Jonah is an example of that that is as clear as crystal. Judgment was imminent for the city and people and God didn't even call or command them to repent and they repented. Jonah explains his reason for running from God and it was because he knew God was merciful and he didn't want God to forgive them. According to Jeremiah 18 God was not going to destroy them because they turned away form darkness, or unrighteousness.

Dr. Flowers, you as such a gracious servant of God! Thank you for your teaching. In this video, I see again that. as usual, Calvinists distort and twist Romans 9...they not only take it out of context but even worse...they refuse to see the COTEXT of Romans 9 which is Jeremiah 18 :1-11. I grew up in the Calvinist church and left it years ago. Calvinists do not know the heart of the Father...they are like the Prodigal son's older brother who became angry and resentful to the Father for letting his lost younger brother back. As Ben Shapiro pointed out..they can't square the circle. Jesus did not say "it is done for some" judt before He died..He said "IT IS DONE." Period. Selah.

Calvinism as represented here by these various individuals is such a tragic exercise in futility. It is a gross misrepresentation of Who God is. It is an illogical and incoherent confused point of view that self-implodes.

I have 2 call timeout on this video because I can only listen to so many presuppositions & really bad isogesis & hermeneutics. I'm w/ Leighton I had to bite my tongue or else James says my anger might cause me to sin. I'm sorry but I'm dumbfounded how blind Calvanists could possibly be to the real meaning of the New Testament teaches. WHEN CALLED BELIEVE & TRUST IN JESUS & U WILL BE SAVED not u can't believe unless I have determined u to believe. This is getting real aggravating listening to Calvanists.
