Can't understand this, warzone literally put it back on the map in 2020/2021. Corperate decision to appeal to the "casual" fan base to lower the skill ceiling and tap into a greater portion of the market on the other hand did. If warzone 2020 re-released as it was guns, maps, sandbox and all will be a hit! If you're saying that they took too much focus to the battle royal market i can kind of understand that but as explained in this video perfectly, many things that were enjoyed were removed to appeal to a "larger"audience.

I think mw2019 put cod back on the map, and while I don't dislike warzone, it was definitely inflated because of covid and the fact that most the balance updates are for free to play players rather then die hard players who buy the game every year is crazy to me but my point of them putting huge campaign plots in a side mode that a lot of people don't like/play is insane let's say I play mw2 and don't play any warzone or campaign then play mw3 and then Graves and general shepherd comes back with no explanation

Also I’d like to add that focusing too much on cosmetics instead of gameplay improvements is what started ruining the game as is it didn’t fit the realistic theme that they were going for shattering the immersion of a “realistic” cod.

My heart goes out to the devs who were trying to make a good game under Bobby Kotick's tyranny but were forced to add things they weren't ready for. I really wish they would give the series and devs a break. Just leave us with a good cod for two or three years and then start back up the yearly releases when everyone has a break. Maybe do some spin offs that aren't in the mainline series. I don't think COD will change as much under Microsoft's supervision as some people like to think but I'd love to be surprised.

I am 52, still play games, but got to experience everything, all the way from Pong, Atari 2600, PS, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, and on and on. Waiting outside for over 24 hours to get a XBOX 360, PS2, etc is still some of the greatest gaming memories I have. I am completely disappointed in what video gaming has become. Sure the graphics are better, the gameplay for the most part better, but the experience has become tedious with micro transactions taking over every game. I just want to buy a game and its mine, everything in it has already been paid for, expansion packs are reasonably priced, etc. I still play, but play more free games and buy a couple packs, just to “pay” for the work the developers have put in, if the game is worth it. I shudder to think what is coming in the future… But keep playing…

Honest question here. Why is SBMM so hated? From my (casual) view, I tend to like playing with people of around the same skill level. I can't be alone in not having fun when getting in a lobby with people who just mop the floor with everyone else. The topic seems to be so divisive, that there must be an upside to no SBMM, but I don't know what it might be.

This was one of the best Call of Duty related documentary type videos i have ever watched. Respect for pointing and saying the truth out loud. Going from MW19 to where we are at now is just sad to see. Good video, respect!

Those were the beginning of the end for the franchise. "Modern Warfare" was only following Battlefields "modern war" trend and it shouldn't have happened to "Call of Duty".

Great video man. It's actually really sad to see this. OG Warzone made my whole pandemic days great, even when they fd up the map I still had rebirth which was amazing, they slowly ruined this game and gave a lot of us no other option but to literally stop playing. This game was really a passion for me, and it vanished.

Its horrendous that they changed the successful formulas for WZ1 movement and mechanic bc the management at AV said: We cannot release the same thing twice, we gotta find something new 🤡. At this point its a clown show. They saw that the game mechanics were almost perfect, it set the standard for a good BR and they changed it bc a minority complained about slide canceling and other stuff. Bad decisions are made and ppl will leave this game no matter what. Since they introduced MW2 I knew the nostalgic feeling of rebirth and verdansk would be gone forever. Even if they bring back those maps, it ll never be the same

MW19’ was peak. The only CoD that should’ve been released. All the rest have been DOOKEY

I still refuse to play another other call of duty since mw 2019 everything was almost perfect besides a few things that they could’ve fixed instead of changing the whole game and stacking a ton of more problems onto the game

I loved MW 2019. DMZ and Zombies is really the only thing inspiring me to play every day. I also love shipment and rust! Actually now that I think of it, I also have enjoyed the side camo challenges in MW2 and 3! Gives you something to work towards every week or two! And half of them are actually better than the mastery camos.

I didnt play in the golden era of CoD but i know how you feel because when i wanted to buy my first cod i only had an old ps3 in my house and my first cod was world at war and i even got into some multiplayer lobbies so i expeirenced the "old cod" and it was better than cod nowdays

I stoped after MW3 (2011) and came back with MW2019 and loved it. Sure it had its problem but overall it was realy good. The games after that went down title after title. I liked Cold Wars zombie but didn't like the multiplayer that much. Vanguard zombies was bad but I liked the multiplayer (ignoring the weird weapons). MW2 was a mixed back. Overall was not that good. Now MW3. It is obvious that this game was planned as DLC and I feel back for Sledgehammer here. They had to turn a planned DLC into a full game which explains the "open world" missions. It feels like original only the classic more linear missions were planned and they needed to throw them in to make it longer. MW3 is overall good the only thing that realy holds it back is SBMM.

When Warzone 2.0 started they had removed load out drops? I don't remember that. I know strongholds were new, but i really remember having load outs available since the beginning. I don't remember not having the option to get a loadout unless you did a stronghold.

Gunsmith is great but I hate how unbelievably punishing it can be especially with the ads which slowed gameplay and helped with their goal of creating "Safespaces" for players which I'm fine with new players getting a protective bracket until they learn the game but this was next level. Helped a ton that the maps was terrible too. I will give credit where it's due mw introduced the best feeling gunplay in the cod franchise but this game I got for free and only played a very tiny bit of matches before I hated how slow the game played. Going to the time limit a ton. Overall warzone in my opinion is what truly saved cod

OG MW trilogy will never be forgotten.

Even over a year later, they never fixed the loadout attachments resetting after backing out of matches for MWII. Meaning you had to endure a complete sweat fest if you wanted to keep your current attachments if you hadn’t saved your custom builds.

I still enjoy playing the OG MW trilogy campaigns. More heart and passion in them while being a badass instead of movie scenes telling me what happens and not feeling anything for it.

I think I've clocked 500 hours in MW3 Zombies alone. I saw that there's a classic Multiplayer mode and also a Warzone mode, but I'm working up to it. I saw there's a campaign mode but there's no grind in single player.

Hearing about DMZ still hurts. That mode is the reason I don’t have any disdain towards MW2. It carried that game for me.

I swear infinity ward is activisions way to lower the bar so they can make bad games look good relative to the worse ones

The worst additions were bootie sliding and bunny hopping! Then, calling that advanced movement😅😅! Operators, no red dots stricter sbmm, not moving on from 6v6 to 9v9. And the death of multi player.

Call of duty really screwed us over with modern warfare three 2023. The campaign was offered worse than modern warfare two and definitely worse than Vanguard. They need to do a remaster of the modern warfare three from 2011. I’m looking forward to that remaster. They also need to do a remaster of call of duty, black ops, and black ops two but will they I doubt it.

I’d buy a passion project like an Advance Warfare sequel before I’ll ever buy another money grab Modern Warfare game that just preys on people’s nostalgia for sales. Luckily many of us are finally waking up

They NEED to end MW at 4. Its clear that this “3” was a DLC. MW original trilogy was peak COD, it’s sad to see what the Black Ops series has become, conclusions are necessary!

MWII was great. For once we were headed in the right direction with cod. It was the only cod almost this whole gen that had the most OG fundamentals and aspects to it. It had amongst the best flow to it in recent cods I dont know what your talking about. MWIII was terrible and with that game we became pushed right back to square one since the downfall of the franchise.

I think MW2 was so much better than every cod since the original modern warfares. I liked the slower movement and hate the crazy fast paced super unrealistic movement. It’s like everyone who couldn’t handle moving slower just had bad ADHD or something. Now in modern warfare 3 people move so fast it’s like you can’t even hit them sometimes and sniping has also just be destroyed by the devs in mw3.

Hot take: MW2 was not that bad

MW 2019 got me back into COD like a lot of people even before Warzone which then took it to a new level. There take on a BR was so much fun and stood out from everything else because it was fast paced, new WZ however was not the same and still isnt now, vehicles especially choppers feel awful, hardly anyone uses them, camping is the name of the game where as in verdansk it felt like players were incentivised to be way more active. Map is way too big i just play resurgence now.

😂 The worst mistake after WZ1 is not continued support of DMZ..😢 to the video brought back amazing memories, was well put together and completely undeniably ACCURATE ASSESSMENT of how things was and what they became with lack of support and respect of OG fan base players.

I been trying to go back to MW19 to find some games on Xbox but its not going super well. Id love to see a population on there if people aren't gonna play MW3 and want some good COD

The exact point the new MW series failed was the convoy mission in MWII when you take control of the vehicles. From that point on it's noticable that the entire campaign was a Warzone demo where the earlier missions have the presentation to be relatively believable. Take MW19's Wolf's Den mission. It was such a great mission that I redownloaded the game just to play it after seeing some 9/11 and Osama content on KZread. So memorable and so well executed, meanwhile MWII onward is Hollywood Marvel movie junk.

After i updated the game my multi-player uninstalled but i was able to play multi-player. After a few seconds i realized my zombies was now locked, it said i had to install the multi-player file and now everytime i try it says the data is corrupted. I contacted playstation and did everything they told me to do and still nothing so they refunded me and told me to try and rebuy it. When i first bought it it was on sale and now it isnt the difference was a little over 20 dollars. I wasnt that upset until i tried to redowload multi-player and the same thing happened again. Im talking to Activision right now but im not sure theyre gonna be able to fix it considering how this update is 😂

The thing is Activision for MW II listened to the audience and removed slide cancelling and more. But they hated on that

MW 2019 reboot gave us so much hope man. That game had its issues but it really felt like CoD was somewhat getting its shit together. What a sad falloff for what should've been an easy recipe to bring the series back to its prime.

I miss when video games in general didn’t try pick my pockets every second with season passes and skins. I truly lost passion in picking up a controller due to this

It passed and turned into bollywood cheap shit ever since BO2 ended. MW 2019 saved it and 2 was pretty decent for what it offered but nonsensical at lots of points and crap compared to its namesake. The plot was a joke or a soap opera most of the time . 3 was just a plain bad joke and scam.

I hope Dmz comes back still waiting for that on cod wz3

Modern Warfare 2 (2022) was a really noticeable downgrade in overall quality. Other than MW3 2023 (which I don't even count as a normal COD release because of how rushed it was), MW2 probably had the worst campaign in the franchises history from a writing and gameplay standpoint. And all the design decisions from that game that went into Warzone ruined Warzone. It was obvious that the people that worked on MW2019 left after it's launch and didn't have any involvement with MW2. It felt like a half-assed off-brand version of COD with the amount of tasteless nostalgia farming that was in that campaign (the stealth mission, chopper overwatch mission). It just felt so soulless compared to 2019. They also managed to scare away the women that composed MW2019s score (which won awards). All the really great creative talent that made MW2019 a reality was pushed away it seems. If Treyarch's game this year isn't a really strong return to form then I have my doubts that COD will ever become a big deal again.

i feel like if they are going to make the mw reboot series good they need to spend more time making the game give it 2 yr dev cycle give new stuff its boring always getting old content cuz it makes the game boring like i like how they remastered all 16 mw2 2009 maps but they cudve added in 16 new maps but didnt cuz this game was supposed to be dlc but if they want to make the mw reboot series break numbers they have to make the game good and cater to all the players needs and make sure the game is finished its not a good look to rush a game and say its good when its not

Guys, I m from the OG MW ERA. I get to play sometimes some modern warfare hardcore BUT… is full of campers, or sweats, or noob toobers, Cronus zen, some cartoon and superhero skins with some laser or fire or electric rifles season meta?! All of these would be banned in my age. But now it s all for sale and so many spend and buy?! Cannot enjoy this crap and of course it will never be as good as the previous generation

You think call of duty cares, no they fucking don’t, i wouldn’t be suprised if they add adler, mason and woods to their next “Modern warfare 2” 2032 with advanced warfare guns and lightsabers, ruining both the bo and mw universe just for the sake of making money

I haven’t even bought MW3 yet or played its campaign and I don’t feel like I’ve missed anything. OG MW series was so sick. The campaigns of the MW reboot just don’t capture the same excitement.
