These old PASGT helmets were rated IIIA, for shrapnel and balistic threats along the line of pistol calibers (out of an actual pistol) and explosive frag. Considering these old GWOT surplus helmets are Kevlar and Aramid with expiration dates to boot, I'd say the helmets held up pretty well.

Idk, from the videos I’ve seen, it definitely stops those rounds. But the helmet deformation will leave you drooling in a wheelchair from skull crushing brain damage you’ll receive after the hit.

Just bought an ech though and would still take them over nothing lol. Though it’s still better than the ach as well. But you can’t go wrong with an ach either. Pasgt is the one to stay away from. I’d only use my pasgt as an absolute last resort.

New helmets stop 7.62s (it will still leave your head ringing, probably a concussion too), old ones will stop them from a distance (again, concussion). Small arms, shrapnel (when reasonable), and other crap will also get stopped though. Not sure about 5.56.

The modern ECH would have stopped everything except the 45-70 because of course no helmet manufacturer does a ballistic test against a 305gr solid brass bullet from 25 meters because that is bonkers.

Yes ACH is only IIIA rated, new ones from opscore are a little heavier and way more expensive can do rifle rounds now. Now if it's a deflection, graze or from very long distance where the energy and velocity have greatly diminished, it may save you but mostly the helmet was there for shrapnel as most have pointed out and/or head injuries of going through tight space in vehicles etc.

Chandler Mooney Matt would never do that. If you show how many guns and let’s say ammo you have at your house the ATF will find out and make a visit. The ATF will see if you have or done anything illegal. Matt wants to stay safe for his family. No one wants to be on the watch list. The FPS Russian never showed all of his guns till someone sent him some drugs in the mail and the feds found out about it then booom they went to his house and took all of his guns and ammo.

I had a buddy that also took a head shot from a 7.62x51 and it penetrated and skirted around his head but did not kill him just gave him a concussion

Have you tried not shooting the same spot? Idk maybe after 3 rounds in the same spot, you may have compromised the structural integrity of your target for the rest of the rounds

exactly what I thought. and maybe a wayyy longer range for the 7.62. Obviously it well penetrate at 15 feet.

He was saving most of its structure integrity for the penetration round. I think.

Soldiers also work around heavy equipment. Beyond protecting from shrapnel and mounting optics, I wonder if blunt injuries are a consideration.

I would like the 38 Special because it’s pretty good and small
