Hi Mai. This patient had severe crowding. They had some teeth removed FIRST. Then braces fitted. Sometimes we fit braces first where there may be a chance we do not need teeth removed. But each case is different. Hope this helps.

Sure, you always have a chance to have braces. In fact speak to your orthodontist because sometimes if it is an option to have a bad tooth removed, and close up all the spaces for your best orthodontic result.

Please think; these people think it’s simple because they went through years of education and learning for it. Then they have a orthodontists practice which costs salaries, electricity, taxes, insurence etc, etc. On top of that there are the materials used. Still think it’s expensive? It’s a lot of money, not expensive. Expensive implies that it’s too high of a price for what you get, and in this case, you get straight teeth for life for the price you pay. I’d say it’s a good fucking deal.

Willem I understand your point but some people are unable to pay for it as it is too much and in places such as England all healthcare is free and the NHS (national health service) still need to pay for all of those funds. The NHS budget does partially come out of taxes but everyone has to pay those. England also do have private hospitals etc. that you have to pay for but all that means is you get help faster and your own room - not in a ward if you are staying in the hospital but these are still significantly cheaper.

@@khushal7710 You get some pain from having the braces put first time. It wasn’t too bad as you get used to having them on your teeth and the pain does go away. It’s just you have to go in regularly to get them redone as the braces straighten your teeth.

Also tell the dentist to give you painkillers because you will feel pain for next two three days.

Facts about me: my dad cooked fried chicken at dinner he knew I just had my braces yesterday. Then he was smirking at me while he slowly ate the chicken! Unforgivable! Despite the pain, I nom nom nom the chicken! He asked, "isn't painful?" I said, "Very, but I can't let you eating chicken while you smirking at me"

People would be surprised how debilitating it is to be embarrassed to smile with your teeth. It stifles your whole confidence. Worth it to get your teeth fixed if you feel this way! I did. Worth every penny.

For all those asking if it hurts, well yes and no. It doesn't hurt when braces are being put on, neither does it hurt later on. However, the next day it will be slightly painful. Force is being applied to your teeth so yes it is gonna pain. Anyway so the pain goes on increasing for about 4-5 days and you might not be comfortable eating most things. The pain is not unbearable though. You'll be fine with a paracetamol. I didn't use any, not until now because I hate oral medications. My point, the pain isnt that bad. After 4-5 days however, it won't be painful at all. Nothing at all. I got my braces last month but I didn't get them on all at once. It was in batches so it hurt everytime braces were put on to a different set of teeth. If you get it done all at once, you won't have to go through it over and over again. And yes you have to adjust! You gonna have a completely different jaw structure, let alone permanent. Remember, NO PAIN NO GAIN. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk bye its 4:42 am. Edit- I'm three months into braces and I'm not sure but I'll try and get back to the comment at the end of the year (2020) just to share my overall experience. I'm really worried about staining my teeth. It's 4:02 am and I have a test in the morning ugh I need to sleep. Oh and feel free to drop any questions, I'll try my best to answer. Edit 2- I won't be answering any question about the "pain" because I think I've emphasized it enough. Any other questions are welcome. Edit 3- It's January 2021. My orthodontist said my Braces will be removed in April 2021.😭 Edit 4- Today is 27th February 2022. My braces were removed on 10th may 2021. So it's been aalmost a year. I had my braces on for a year and half. It was a great experience. Only advice is please wear your retainers or else your teeth are gonna shift back. It happened with me. All the best if you wanna get it. Would definitely recommend.

I've always wondered how this worked. When I was 7 or 8, I was told I will needed braces at 15. I'm now 19 and I'm still waiting. I asked the dentist about it and they said I clearly don't need braces.

Debor Shine you guys it all depends on who you are. For most people, it hurts most the first 2 days. Actually getting the braces on doesn’t hurt at all, but it gets worse before it gets better. And once it gets better, all you have to worry about is tightening.

Me : I have a good smile, my teeth .....are of course a little crooked but they don't need braces. My teeth : ⬆️↗️➡️↘️⬇️↙️⬅️↖️⬆️↗️➡️↘️⬇️↙️⬅️↖️

I have braces and figured the little picks thst go between your teeth are a life saver

I can't imagine the pain he needs to go through this, I've got mine (it's not that very crocked tho) and will be removed in 3months. I am very excited to see how he will be smiling after all this.

I have braces, and I would have enjoyed getting them more if the doctor didn't put shots in my gums. I asked her why and she said, " becase I wanted to. " Wow.. what a great reason why... I now have fears of shots because of that. I asked my new dentist ( I moved ) if they did shots, and they said no. Thank goodness.

I came because I wanted to see if anybody would say something about how bad his teeth are gonna hurt from the shifting first few angles

Watching this because I'm going to have my braces by tommorow and I'm kind of anxious with the procedure (there will be three teeths extracted from my pre-braces procedure) and excited with what I look like after my braces had been put on my teeth. Wish me luck!

Mine almost perfect :) my 4 months look good already but i need to have it for a year. I got lots of compliment. Those who ddnt get it yet. Its ok you be fine and what is insde you is more important. Always be happy :) Those people around you that not gonna accept you .. fuck them.. some people there love how u look and what you are and accept you. Wish everybody happy and goodluck all of us :) dont have to change the way you look because everyone else sees it as a flaw . Be uniquely you and be happy

Crazy Rainbow123 the first day it was verry weird and i didn’t have pain but later on the day i felt pain and it was verry hard to eat five days later it was better and i was able to eat hard things but if you have pain its a good signal because your theeths are moving so yea sorry for my English i live in the Netherlands

It’s probably improved the patient’s oral health as well. I imagine it was probably difficult to thoroughly brush and floss before the braces properly aligned them.

To anyone who shared their entire braces story in the comments and said that it DIDN’T hurt for them, all I can say is that man, you are soo lucky!! This November 14 it will be exactly 1 year that I am wearing braces and I go to my orthodontist every month to change my wires and make adjustments and all that. Let me tell you, the pain has ALWAYS been bad for me the first few days every time I get them changed. I got them changed yesterday, and let me tell you I WENT THROUGH HELL AND BACK and I still am right now while writing this. As if changing the plain wire wasn’t enough pain, this time he added power chains, TWO springs, and he changed the way I wear my rubber bands. Sometimes I go to the bathroom and start crying there so nobody sees me. Yes, it’s that bad and no, I’m not exaggerating. I actually have a high pain tolerance (usually). The only thing I can tell myself to reassure myself is that it’ll be worth it. Now excuse me while I go to the bathroom and start crying.
