Welcome to the real world. I got my degree in 1971 and had to go back to school for a different profession to get a job. You can't major in philosophy or home ec and expect to get a whole lot of job offers. You have to make yourself marketable.

It used to be like that everywhere around the world. There was no waste, everything was used, and what "waste" there was basically turnrd into compost over time. Even broken pottery was reused. But the humanity as a whole hqs become too greedy

Plastic is a byproduct of fuel production. Every time you put gas in a car you leave plastics behind somewhere in the world.

Most locals here in the Philippines and the rest of south east asia. Use banana stem for textile, 🐷 pigfood, or BBq 🍖 stand... the leaves are used as kitchen uttensils and disposable packaging, the heart can be eaten including the peel and shoot ...the peel is used for polishing shoes... the rest became fertilizer........ sicnce my island is one of the top exporters of banana 🍌 in asia, i can buy almost 10kilos of banana with less than a 💵 dollar... aside from that their are plenty of banana variety to choose from my favorite is ‘sabah’, but i dont like mono culture cavendish banana many plantations here are in peril because of banana deseases....

The dried stem and dried leaves are put in mounds to make cups for desserts and the mats woven with the fibre will make a cool summer bed. In ancient India the stem Fibre was used as a ribbon to tie a plait, and also tie flowers for regular use.

When I worked on a farm and Hawaii I used to take pieces of banana stem, scrape the pulp out, and dry them, like how these guys do. Instead of fabric I made it into banana cordage, a traditional rope or string. It’s really fun and cool

@@partha2806 we cut it into small pieces and then boil it with dal add salt and turmeric while boiling....while that is boiling we make a coconut and tomato paste ...we had oil put onion and the paste and then the boiled stem and the dal let it cook add all the masala's then at the end put coriander.....can eat with dosa and roti's....I don't like it but my mom makes me eat it saying it is good for kidney

Oh and you can have this as a fun hobby (which is what I'm planning to do) by hand pounding the dried part(like they do in the lotus silk video) and trying to handspin and weave a small cloth. Maybe try donating the stems as livestock fodder

we use literally every part of a banana tree in my place ... stems are used to make vazha pindi thoran , we usually use banana leaves as plates , we make koombu thoran with the flower , we use peels of banana fruit as composite , we make thoran and chips with raw banana and we eat ripe bananas with puttu aka steam cakes ❤️
