About Air Serbia (from Wikipedia):
Air Serbia (stylised as AirSERBIA; Serbian: Ер Србија / Er Srbija) is the flag carrier of Serbia. The company's headquarters is located in Belgrade, Serbia, and its main hub is Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport. The airline was known as Jat Airways until it was renamed and rebranded in 2013.
Air Serbia originated in 1927 when the first Serbian company for civil air transport Aeroput was formed. 1927 was also the year the nation's capital Belgrade became the hub of its operations, with the inauguration of an international airport. Aeroput became the flag carrier of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and, by the opening of numerous airfields throughout the country, significantly improved connections between the various regions. Besides providing passenger, mail, and cargo service to its domestic destinations, Aeroput inaugurated its first regular scheduled international route, Belgrade-Zagreb-Graz-Vienna, in 1929. During the 1930s, it expanded by opening new routes to other destinations in Austria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Albania, and Italy.
After WWII, the company was nationalized and rebranded as JAT Jugoslovenski Aerotransport in 1948, thus becoming the flag carrier of the FPR Yugoslavia.

    I think every experience is going to be different and things can go great and things can go sideways for a plethora of reasons. I’ve flown air Serbia probably 3 dozen times in economy and business and I haven’t had any issues however that doesn’t say much Im one passenger. Experiences vary. The lounge was decent enough, the people at the check in counters have gotten much friendlier and the hospitality while it has some ways to go has been better. It’s going to be like that in much of the Balkans or Eastern Europe in general. People there are generally very warm and welcoming and over accommodating when it comes to personal interactions and hosting but when it’s on a business aspect it tends to be a bit harsh and cold admittedly it’s sort of engrained in the culture. Polish LOT is the same the flight attendants are very detached, it’s very mechanical just a job so to speak. I’m from the balkans so I’m sort of numb to it as it will never touch western mainly USA hospitality but that also brings some challenges as some of it is very much fake too fake and obvious and forced smiles ect… I think this was a fair review all in all. People and businesses should always welcome criticism and learn from it accept it and try to get better. Just my opinion.

    Thank you for taking the time to write this comment. It's spot on and I couldn't agree more on this. Many of my childhood friends are from the Balkans and I really love it to stay with them and their families and to eat and drink (especially drink hahahha) together, it's one of the purest forms of hospitality I have ever experienced, you're literally treated like family. However, going to a restaurant, hotel etc. in Serbia or Bulgaria for example can feel very different as in some cases you are not treated nicely (not sure if that has to do because I am a foreigner or if it is the same for everyone). In general I love to travel in Eastern Europe a lot, actually even more than Wester Europe, and tbh I am also not a fan of that fake friendliness you experience in some western countries and some parts of Asia aswell. That all said; yes it is true, everyone's experience differs and it is always hard to judge an airline based on a single flight. But I do think there are some insightst be gained nevertheless - for other travelers, for the airline and for myself. Thanks for watching and safe travels!🙏

    Still it was an Air Serbia flight (at the end after landing they literally say "thank you for flying Air Serbia today"). Also it was an Air Serbia flight number and I bought the ticket on the official Air Serbia website. How can anyone know in advance that they will get that or 'real' Air Serbia?

    @@theRealJohnnyG. Of course you couldn't' have known whether this was Air Serbia "original" plane or not but, sorry, the fact stays that this was not an Air Serbia plane. I'm sure you're familiar with a "wet lease" concept.

  • @theRealJohnnyG.

    @theRealJohnnyG.

    @@filiprad Yes, it was not an air Serbia plane. But that is not the point. I was documenting my Air Serbia flight, unfiltered. If you book an Air Serbia flight on their website there is absolutely no guarantee that you won't have the same experience like me and fly in a wet leased plane from Dan Air (since this is not shown anywhere prior to the flight). So for anyone planning to by an Air Serbia ticket, this trip report is valid. Furthermore, if you buy an Air Serbia flight and you get delivered this, that is still representative of Air Serbia since they are the one deciding where to lease the planes from and creating false expectations for there customers.

    Not to drag about but... You are getting what you pay for and you will not get a 5 star hotel in economy class so dont expect too much from any company not just AirSerbia. Also I dont think this is an AirSerbia plane because its wet - leased aircraft witch is not technically an Air Serbia plane. This video is kind of misunderstood for those who are not in planes and flying around. So better explanation and quick summary of video is lacking on this content.

    It was an Embraer E190, the pilot took the D5 intersection instead of the D6 intersection, The section of runway Infront of D5 is 1296 meters and it too short for the E190, the aircraft overran on take-off and struck multiple radio poles on the ground, the aircraft has sustained severe damage and will most likely have to be scrapped.

    All in all to be fair Air Serbia with combination with JAT as it was under that moniker for a long time had an excellent safety record aside yesterdays incident which is a shame due to pilot arrogance and the 1972 JAT flight 367 which was sabotage. The service and hospitality there’s definitely a lot left to be desired. I’m not making excuses but it’s a trend in second world economies on the eastern bloc where people get paid €300 a month and pilots make maybe €800. There’s going to be a a big difference there’s no question flying SWISS vs Air Serbia or LOT for example. You sort of know what you’re getting if you really wanted to spend the extra money and fly Air France, you can’t beat up on a KIA for not being a Benz….i digress ✌🏼.
