Just bought this kit and thought I should check to see if you did a build review…..it looks like a spitfire with tropical bits, and this will be my second spitfire I’ve ever built (first was by my dad when I was 7…I’m 52 now…), so am quite happy to build this one. Cheers for the build review and your honest opinion. Will build in flying condition as a gate guardian monument.

Looks like the wings are cast out of a mirrored mould and holes added where required on the underside, but should not have the two oval shapes which should only be on the top surface, though overall, great work on this kit, Matt 👍🏻

Yeah I initially thought that, but there are some pictures of spitfires online with blisters underneath the wings as well, so not too sure
I managed to get a slightly older version of this kit for £3 at the Bovington model show, and despite its obvious problems, I'd say any model kit you're able to get for so little money is good. Great vid as always

I bought this kit way back in the early to mid 1990's. I never ended up building it as it was so bad. Had I built this kit in the late 70's or very early 80's, it would've 100% been set on fire and thrown as far as possible in a "battle" with my best friend who no doubt would've had a bf-109. Just as we did with our "knocked out" tanks back then.

First of all, you did an excellent job considering the quality of the kit. For the price definitely worth purchasing for use as a skills test bed and as you mentioned for the extra decals. As regards to the bluey grey underside paint, I just wonder if it's a quality control issue with Humbrol? My son recently used this paint on his P40 and it gave an excellent result. Smooth with no graininess at all. It has to be said that even unthinned, it took 2/3 coats to get the full pigmentation. As always really enjoyed the vid.👍👍

You did a good job of it with this kit. I built that kit long ago in USAAF markings HL-AA, hand painted. The fuselage seemed too slim and the wings were like slabs. To do it with landing gear retracted I scribed in the wheel well and wheels. The wings are all I have left of the model, in my scrap bits box. I've found better Spitfire Vs in 1/72 at sales here in the US for less money than the PM kit.

and I would say one of those decal options is one that I don't think is done that often, that being the Turkish Air Force, quick look through scalemate shows that last 3rd party decals for the Turkish Air force were from around 2013 so paying $5 might be the cheapest and easiest way to go.
@ModelMinutes

yeah, not a bad idea to get this for the decals
Thank you for posting and persevering through this one! I see markings for Britain and the USA, but what do the third group of decals represent? **** Nevermind, I just started watching your unboxing video and saw they are Turkish. Despite the quality, I do appreciate when kits give you the option to represent different countries, like the Swiss 109 you did some time back.

glad i watched this before getting this kit may be only 6 quid but i think i would rather save it and add that 6 quid to buying a airfix model spitfire you have more patience than me pal because i would have given in after finding the wings didnt fit properly well done on getting it to look as good as it did

Thanks very much! Yes, worth saving up for a better version which will save some of the headaches I had in this one

For someone like me whos still learning, i think this model would be ideal for technique practice and "back to basics" model practice. Terrible kit, but a decent build. Once again the Humbrol paints look awful, but having experience with them myself it's the paint, not you! I have no idea what you need to do to make them go on decently but I've tried brush, air-brush, thinning, and no thinning. Nothing seems to work. A shame as I always used Humbrol back in the day, although there were only enamels back then! I may try some of those next. Great channel content as always!
