K mart is his game would shut that jokic shit up fr. It’s for sure his time and game. Remember the foreign players started to come over after the handchecking rule was placed. The zone defense was implemented. It was hard for them to stay in front of American players that changed the whole game. Facts

Kenyon does have a point about attacking Joker's handle before he starts to feel out what he wants to do. Wolves were doing that game 1-2, poking at the ball or bringing a guard to show double and showing hands to get Joker to focus on controlling the ball. I am writing this after game 6 and that is exactly what they did to keep him from going off again and forcing the others to shoot. They would double, the big would poke and the guard would swipe from his front to get him to pick up his dribble early or even before he could decide to attack. MNs rotations were sharp as well, they left a few open looks but for the most part they were able to rotate and contest when Joker would draw the double and pass.

These guys are 100% correct on how to defend Jokic at the 10-13 minute mark. It works. It's also why KAT and Naz can defend Jokic better than Rudy - they can get lower and battle. The problem is they started bumping back, reaching, doing all the things the refs will call fouls. You just stay low, get up in Jokic's body and make him work hard to back you down. It worked in games 1 and 2, and once they tired Jokic out and got him frustrated, they were then able to gamble a bit and go to block his shots or disrupt his passes. So what happened games 3-5? They got passive and let Jokic get in a rhythm. Then when they tried to battle, all they could think about was all the turnovers they forced the previous 2 games - *but you have to frustrate Jokic and tire him out FIRST before he will start making mistakes and get tunnel vision*. So they got even more passive because they didn't want to get in even more foul trouble, and if you give Jokic separation, if you don't make him work, he will maintain his physical and mental acuity and pick you apart with his shot, footwork or passing. Rudy is not a bad defender. He just cannot be the one guarding Jokic - he cannot get low enough to battle against Jokic's center of gravity, and even if he could bend down far enough, he does not have the balance, coordination or mass necessary to stay up on Jokic and frustrate him. Kyle Anderson can't either - he just got lucky in game 2 that Jokic was already frustrated and devolving into tunnel vision so that he could reach in and cleanly poke the ball away. Battle Jokic, tire him out, frustrate him in the post by not letting him just walk into whatever he wants, THEN you can make some gambles on him while also decreasing his shooting and passing accuracy. Its not to say he won't still score, or rebound, or get assists, but it will prevent him from being unstoppable

Denver has already instilled insecurity in the Wolves locker room. Last year, Rudy and Kyle Anderson got into it on the bench in the series against Denver. This year you see Naz visibly upset when Gobert covers Jokic. But Naz ain’t stopping Jokic either. And Kat is too soft, he got cooked by Jokic already too. It’s back to the drawing board for Minnesota next season, I think one of the bigs might have to leave (Kat for not showing up offensively, Rudy for not being enough defensively) Also, Kat does stupid fouls. Like if he fixed his fouling nonsense, Minnesota would be better off. Ant called him out for that in their press conference after beating Phoenix.

Expecting Ant to save the season isn’t it. He’s a great player already but he needs BBL Towns to step up. If Jokic is getting 40, someone else has to match that. It looks like no one is capable but Ant, and he can’t do it if he’s being doubled.

@@Nick-sr4fe He did play decent but he also got fouls early and he needs to stop doing that so he can be available to score. I also don’t buy into the “banged up” excuses. For example, Mike Conley is injured, so he didn’t play and that made it easier for Denver to double team Ant. That’s a valid reason for Ant not having a good game last night cuz of the defensive pressure Denver put on him. They definitely need Conley to help run the offense and relieve pressure on Ant. But if you’re Kat, you still play even tho banged up, you gotta do what you gotta do or stay off the floor for this one and save yourself for the next game. Same thing with Jamal at the beginning of this series. He was not playing well and you could say it was the calf strain, but also Minnesota was putting a lot of pressure on him defensively. Denver has adjusted now with having Gordon or Jokic bring up the ball more and Murray has been able to stop being a liability out there. Hopefully Minnesota gets Mike back and they can make adjustments, or else their season is over.

Just looking at the stats (didn't see the game) Denver took 80 shots to Minnesota's 78. And Michael Porter looks like the only player that made team shooting % somewhat close. Minnesota couldn't disrupt Denver's offense. Michael Porter is the only Denver player below 50%. And 7 of his 10 shots were 3s. He only made 2 of them. The rest he was 0 for 3. He had a horrible night shooting. Aaron Gordan had 5 offensive rebounds by himself to Minnesota's 8 as a team. But there are no offensive rebounds to get if you're hardly missing shots Minnesota didn't look like they can make it difficult for Denver as a team to score.

They spittin facts. In the post you either work early or late. 1st goal is deny deny deny position. Anticipate where he wants to go, and limit your weaknesses. Be strong without over committing. Thats how you get embarrassed on spin offs and back cuts. Forearm use is a great suggestion. Surprised Rudy isn’t doing that already. All these are not a means to stop someone, but just a means to try and make things as difficult as possible. Jokic was on one in game 5. He was hittin crazy bank shots and blind hooks etc. that’ll happen, he’s a 3X MVP. I’d play the same D again. Shut off everyone else’s water(Porter had 6, Murray was quite and the Bench was limited) and make Jokic put on a show again. Like in a game of one on one, a guy beats you with hot shooting?🤷‍♂️ Cool…Okay, run it back and "prove it” I wanna see him try to get 40 again. We beat them in the same game, as long as Ant puts in 30+

K.Mart is so right. The defense has the right to the same spots as the offensive player. You got to make him work more. Plus I wouldn’t let him down on the block without moving me before he get there. Picking him up half court which will be less time for the offense to work with on the shot clock. But talk to the refs before the game to see what is a foul and what ain’t one. Like K. Mart said it’s a chess match.

Jokic would cook Kenyon. They saying Gobert can’t play defense when he clearly can, it’s just Jokic is too good. Players are trying to defend him while being conscious of their surroundings just in case he does a sneak pass. That messes with you mentally. Jokic is unique and nobody in nba history as a center can compare to him. Old players trying to explain how to guard him doesn’t make sense. Jokic’s IQ is next level

I do agree with Kenyon that they don’t push jokic off the block. I remember watching shaq the most dominant force ever. Most of his shots were not close. A lot of his shots during a game were jump hooks from pretty far away because of being pushed early. But honestly today no one in league pushes jokic off the block. The moment the warriors popularized small ball that all went away. Now the nba doesn’t know how to handle big men. To start there aren’t that many big men in the league. They are allowed to get were they want. Jokic doesn’t even seem like he’s bothered when he’s backing him down. Or anyone in the league for that matter. I think it will be another 3-4 years before the big man makes ot return and every team has 2-3 big guys.
