I thought I’d share my experience taking this as I’ve never had any issues. I’ve used it three times for a UTI, the release capsules, turns my urine bright yellow but other than that no side effects, clears up the infection within a few days. I hope this makes anyone feel better about taking it for the first time as I was terrified after reading so many negative reviews.

As a family practice doc I suggest that my patients urinate right after coitus. Thus you flush the bacteria out of the urethra.

I'm also from the UK, and I have the same problem, the NHS just keeps writing me a prescription for this nitrofurantoin...I passed 3 tests 3 times and I had 3 different results. I told them afterwards that I needed to see the right doctor, not my GP, before taking the pills, but they don't listen at all, they think that I just need to take pills. Wthl?! First of all, they need to check my entire body before writing a prescription. Insane. In Russia, where I used to live, it is really easy to get medical care. Especially in order to contact a good specialist who will be able to help you immediately...I do not know what to do now and where to go, if honestly and I'm just lost my hope to help myself.

I have intertrestrial cystitis as well. I've been prescribed this medication for the long-term. I have a year supply and I'm trying to find out if I will eventually have issues when I need an antibiotic for other infections. I'm concerned I'll build a tolerance to antibiotics and they won't work if I get an unrelated infection. I asked my doctor and his answer wasn't clear. He said it's a personal choice. I don't know that I have any other options. Within 2 days of my last dose my urine smells extremely fowl, within 4 days I'm in to much pain to get out of bed. I've had to go to the ER a couple times when I'm out of this medication. Taking this antibiotic along with a couple other daily pills is barely keeping the pain and discomfort under control. But without Nitrofurantion I can't function at all. I would really like to hear what others experiences with this med have been. I can't find much information on the internet. Any thoughts or experience about this Painful Bladder Syndrome would be appreciated.

This is random, but the woman you showed towards the end of the video had Odette written on her belly and that's my daughters name! I just thought that was cool because it's a rare name. Anyway, thanks for the info! This was helpful.

No, avoid caffeine with this med. Can make you very jittery and not work as well.

I have a UTI so I’m taking macrobid. It has made me feel nauseous and have an acid burning feeling in my stomach, chest and throat. I also feel dizzy, light headed and my arms, hands, legs, feet and lips feel tingly. The same way as if I sat on my feet and it makes the static feeling when you get off it. It feels like I’m dying. And I’ve always had acid reflux but this is the worst it’s ever been in my entire life. And I was born with stomach issues. And my doctor gave me it for 7 days but I’m not pregnant.

I went to an actual doctor instead of urgent care and the ER and he said that what I had wasn’t serious enough for the macrobid so they gave it to me without doing proper testing which is why it made me even more sick. He even told me that they most likely gave it to me to kind of get rid of me because they saw everything with me was healthy and normal (my weight, blood test, urine test) so they just thought I was some hypochondriac. Turns out I most likely have upper AND lower gastrointestinal problems and will need to see a stomach doctor so they can put a camera down my throat to see if it’s something in my stomach like an ulcer. He did further testing on me regardless if my chart said I was healthy because it’s more internal. So hopefully I get some kind of answer soon because I still feel nauseous, stomach pain, sharp pains, etc and have been feeling it since June of last year and it’s January. It’s so disappointing seeing that they just gave me a medicine just to get rid of me. And also when I went to the urgent care again after taking macrobid for 5 days (even though it was prescribed to me for 7 days which is not normal, it’s meant to be taken for 5 days) because I couldn’t shower without feeling like I was having a heart attack and nearly passing out so I had to have my mom help me which is incredibly embarrassing considering I’m 19 and need help showering. The people at the ER even told me to stop taking it and then told me to just eat a bland diet which I did for a month, only probiotic yogurt, apple sauce and bread. I lost 30lbs because of this stupid illness. About the UTI, I didn’t have any symptoms or peeing problems of having a UTI other than bacteria and white blood cells in my urine that one time so I don’t think I had one to begin with.

I always get prescribed this and sometimes i can get through a course with no problems but the other times its god awful. I completely lose my appetite, I'm nauseas, and I get this choking feeling. Thank god tomorrow is my last day but for some reason this round is taking a toll. What I am happy about though is i can pee finally without having pain.

@@sabrinaharleyy the weird thing was, I didn’t have any peeing issues yet they prescribed it to me anyways. No cramping, pain or burning when I peed or anything like that. It was all in my stomach region. I went to a real doctor recently and was told I should’ve never had taken the uti meds bc I didn’t have one especially for 7 days when it more common to take for 5. But the doctor told me my symptoms show signs of upper and lower gastrointestinal problems so I’m going to a stomach doctor soon.

@@minibatman2.016 thats smart that you got another opinion. Yeah for me sometimes ill get undetectable uti's but this one that i recently had i was in a lot of pain. Im allergic to penicillin so this is the only antibiotic i can take.

Today My doctor gave me this, because I keep having to pee but my urine test came out negative of any infection, he told me the same day I went to see him.

Well that's unusual, here in the UK, they just ignore painful symptoms of frequent and urination and follow the inadequate tests or cultures which have been shown, in studies, to miss at least 50% of infections and even 75% in one study

Tell your doctor about any side effects. My wife used to get UTI's and so did I. We don't anymore because we drink 8 glasses of water every day. So keep yourself well hydrated. Finish all the medicine unless your side effects are bad, then tell the doctor. Good Luck.

My doctor has perceived this drug for a bladder infection that didnt respond to the first drugs that were percribed. But where my question about this drug comes in is how my doctor has percribed it. He has it where I take one 100 mg tablet every other day , for a 3 month period. Until our next appointment?

Dont take this medicine it made my mom very sick

my doctor is sending me to take this antibiotic for six months to reset flora, prevention. and due to recurring UTIs ? i am kinda don't want to becasue I am scared for side effects, if this rx kills bacteria and doesn't know or tell which is good orbad, then is killing good bacteria. and I read this rx can also give you lung problems. i almost forgot i am almost 40yrs old

You can replace the good bacteria with probiotics or make sauerkraut which has more probiotics than commercial preparations. I use the Garden Of Life ones for UTI and digestion from Amazon

Sauerkraut is just thinly sliced cabbage which you add salt to, in a big jar, then use a wooden spoon to smash the salt into the cabbage. Leave to ferment for 1-2 weeks, when it tastes nice and sour, it’s ready.

You can add spices or dill, in Korea they call it Kimchi and add chilli. I prefer it with dill 🥬

You take it with food. But you swallow the capsule whole. Otherwise, request the antibiotic in liquid form.

Do you know if there's fakes of this around? Cause I had to buy mine 'illegally' from Asia so I'm not sure they're real?! I just started so I guess if it does nothing to my symptoms, I will know. It's not ideal but the NHS is failing thousands of us because of outdated guidelines

Getting a yeast infection from any antibiotic is actually very common ask your doctor to get that pill that knocks the yeast infection out you only have to take one
