What could happen if somebody from the mixer sends phantom power via a DI box to an interface connected to a computer or smartphone by usb port?

quick and easy! i'lll just add that condenser tube mics like the mxl 9000 dont need phantom cause they run on their own power.

Thanks. Can i use a wireless transmitter which has phantom power onto a Rode NTG4+ mic? NTG4+ has a built in rechargeable battery.

Hey, thank you for your question. The Rode NTG4+ can be powered in one of two ways: either with phantom power or by using its internal battery. It only requires power from one of these sources, not both, so if you're using the internal battery, there's no need to provide phantom power. I hope this helps.

Hi Alex If you have problems with e.g. to turn the gain knob all the way up with a dynamics mike, then you can use e.g. a Cloudlifter, and this, as a DI box, also requires Phantom power, as you also say in the video. And it could be a great video to make with how to set it up and how it works. I could use an external Phantom power unit for my Shure SM7B microphone I would be happy if you make such a video. The best greetings Finn from Radio ALR in Denmark

Hi Finn, thanks so much for your comment. I haven't personally used a Cloudlifter, or any other inline preamp, but I understand their purpose - to boost the signal from a dynamic or ribbon microphone, which would be useful in instances where your interface's preamp doesn't offer enough gain, or when you have to raise the gain to a level where the noise floor becomes audible. The SM7B does have a somewhat lower output than similar dynamic mics, so using a Cloudlifter to increase the signal level before it reaches the interface makes sense. To set this up, I believe it's as simple as connecting the mic to the Cloudlifter's input, and the Cloudlifter's output to the interface, and turning on phantom power on the interface. I shall certainly keep this idea in mind for a future video! Thanks for the idea, and best wishes, Alex.

So I have this question, should I use the phantom power on my Audio Interface (Arturia Audiofuse Studio) or should I get a separate power supply ?

I’d recommend using the phantom power on your interface 🙂

What if I turn on phantom power but get no sound out? Tested the condenser mics on a friends interface and they work fine there but will not work with my churches mixer

Hey, this could be a number of things, though you've ruled out the mics being the issue, so that's a good start. Are you able to get a signal to the desk and then to the front of house from other mics that don't require phantom power?

@@mixinglessonsyes I have 5 channels plugged in which are a Shure beta 58a 3 Shure sm58 and my guitar plugged in with a 1/4 jack and the mixer works great other then the dynamic mics that I need but I’m sure i need to get my church a new mixer it’s pretty old and the phantom power might have went out on it.

It sounds like the desk may have an issue with supplying the phantom power. Do you have any other devices you could test the phantom power with? Such as an active DI box, for example.
