I remember this used to be the BIGGEST game at the time of its release
This game slotted nicely into the "are games art" debate that was popular at the time
So, how?
There's a video that goes into more detail about the development of the game: "How Papers, Please Was Made and The History of The Developer" by ThatGuyGlen. kzread.info/dash/bejne/fYJ3wc2OgKy_dMo.html
This game is so great, really interesting and inspiring short! 😊
It’s a very good well made game, that’s all there is too it.
I did not realize the game made that much money. That’s really impressive.

games are mix of entertainment, play and art. Play and art actually just automatically results with entertainment and art experience. You can go to a more entertainment side or go more of an art approach. Just like in the films. Marvel movies are more of an entertainment approached but still is an art at the end of the day. Music is same too. Some artists just make the same music that is out there and some try to express a feeling or an idea through musical and lyrical techniques. Games allow us to create a reality. And we use play as another layer. That's already a big opportunity.

@@omerfarukbykl6097 Sure but as an indie game developer it’s always nice to see a game do so well.

Short answer - the game was good
yeah lots of games made by one person make tens of millions of dollars. i mean ultrakill made 100,000,000 dollars and it was made by one person.
