How Amtrak Dumps Ballast! Amtrak Work Train
On a perfect spring afternoon we are on the Amtrak Michigan Line watching Train 972 dump ballast. This train was dumping rock on Main 1 of the Amtrak Michigan Line between Wayne Michigan and Ypsilanti Michigan.
Please note an attempt was made to not be invasive of the MOW crew or film the crew members up close.

Excellent video! I saw B32 #518 on the NEC at Rhode Island a few months back
Amazing catch and very informative video! How often does Amtrak put down new ballast on the Michigan Line?
I had no idea Amtrak did their own track work , And what good looking Locomotives and ballast hoppers also!
I had no idea AMTK had their own MOW equipment and did their own track work.

This happens on the northeast corridor and Amtrak Michigan line mainly, but Amtrak does own other track as well.
Great video! I live right next to the CSX line in NW Ohio and love when the MOW comes out. They don't put down new stone until the new ties are down. Any idea why Amtrak is doing it first?
How is ns 1067 on the ballast train
How about that Amtrak pulling some freight cars Something different for a change
This work related to upgrading the tracks to 110mph?
