How accurate are cheap 22s? (ft. Savage model 64)

Ойын-сауық

What kind of accuracy can you expect from a 99 dollar 22? Well it depends on a LOT of factors. Today I am using a Savage model 64 and Remington Target .22lr ammo.

Thanks for the shout out Buffalo, I had two people so far say that you sent them. That Savage is a good inexpensive little plinker, I actually bought it for my daughter when she was ten years old. Mine has a Simmons magnum 22 scope on it and I think I paid $22 for it back when I bought the rifle

That poor old girl! I hope when she closes her eyes, she’ll know that she was finally loved and taken care of. Good on you brother! That’s incredible shooting for a budget rifle and budget scope. What shooting “experts” that chime in and have criticism for, have to realize is that you are shooting a target the size of an eyeball, so are fractions or 1/16 of inches REALLY something to be snarky on?! Not bad for only going out on a couple occasions but it was a 1500 dollar 22 Winchester lever of my grandfathers I think he gave 160 for it new. What a rare gun to have. Bought the 62f so I could retire it. Other then to keep it warm from time to time.

I'm up in Canada, and have already taken the course & testing for my firearms permit, just awaiting it to be processed, and cant wait to get some range time in the near future! Love the content and the simple and easy to understand context of the videos, and how easy you make things to understand even to people who may not be as experienced or knowledgeable. Also, just wanted to say a big load of respect and thanks for taking in Gertie. What a shame for a pup to have been someone's pet and companion for so long, only to be left on a highway-side as her sun begins to set. I'm glad you found her/she found you, and thanks for giving her somewhere where she can enjoy to spend whatever time she has left with people who will take care of her. Youre good people. Looking forward to going thru a bunch of your library of videos, and a bunch of new videos in the future! All the best from your neighbours to the North, stay well and stay safe!

The difference in $1,500 dollar 22s and $100 dollar ones is not that much different. You just figure that out after you buy a $1500 dollar one. Low cost models just have stiff triggers and are harder to shoot. Low cost scopes don’t always go back to zero sometimes either; but some will. You pay a lot of money for one that has all the bells and whistles. The $100 one is sure not the one for shooing target matches at long range. But, never underestimate any in the right hands of someone that knows how to shoot. They don’t need a hair trigger or fancy scope. You know practice shooting a 22 rifle off hand with a heavy trigger pull and a 16 power scope made me a better off hand shooter. Great video do some more like this one. Like your new puppy dog too.

I watched him drop a Buck at 125yrds that eased between us drivers and trotted through a field...2 weeks later he won $200 at a turkey shot with it knocking a clay pigeon off a post at 100yrds off hand ...technology can't always top talent..it helps but skill is priceless!

Love this old Canadian work horse made in Lakefield Ontario. It's often a Canadians first rifle, as you can find them for just under $200 CAD. And just about every store that sells firearms up here sells the Savage 64. There aren't many Canadian made firearms that are in affordable price ranges for the average person. But this old Cooey design from 1964 is still relevant today due to it's price range.

I'm a big fan of savage since buying my Savage 93 17HMR and discovering that I can drive tacks at 50 yards and when I started getting the urge to buy a new 22LR I was think about the model 64. I'm so glad you did this quick accuracy test to help me make a decision. I see nothing wrong with the groups you shot, nice job sir!

Savage 93 hnr great late season squirrel rifle savage 64 is a great fall squirel rifle where I'm at 50 yards is before the leaves are gone, then I break out the HMR Both are great for the price, and the savage outshoots the 10/22 for half the price

This is going to be really good, I feel like you did a good job with that little light gun with the hard trigger pull, yeah it seems like I almost always pull the last shot
