Love the review. The able bodied in the accessible stall is a huge issue for me. I was at an Abilities Expo recently and there were about 15 open regular stalls available and I waited almost 20 minutes for the one accessible stall only to have a perfectly able bodied person walk out of it. I was so pissed I literally told her off and explained she had MANY options but took up the ONE stall I could use and to be more considerate next time. I was livid.

Yeah it makes me so mad when there is a whole bathroom full of regular stalls empty and the accessible one is taken by someone that doesn't need it. My compassion meter was totally used up by the time we came home. I peed my pants so many times waiting for the accessible stall and not once was there anyone that needed it in there.

2 weeks ago my wife and I flew out to Virginia Beach to see my family, first time flying since the accident 7 years ago, getting on board to smaller aircraft from the jetty, little bridge onto the plane was very tedious for me and then maneuvering down in the seats, I would like to hear how you are able to get on board and off. Thanks, Doug

I have Frog Leg front end casters which are super light and pretty much fly over cobbles. Please note, those put on will make your chair an inch and a half higher...but WELL worth the $$$.

@@EmpoweredPara yeah...BEST investment on a wheelchair ever! I thought it was hype...but no, they are a dream. They seriously take the 'ouch' of riding in a wheelchair because they truly lessen bumps by like 85%.

It was very surprising, in 2024, to hear that the shuttle wasn’t wheelchair-accessible! That just sucks! And therefore, that you wheeled 5 km per day - that is a lot in my mind! Great Mexican Hat at dinner! Did you take it home? And I was surprised that in such a big resort that there were no Pool Lifts. Even a small indoor swimming academy here in Winnipeg has a Pool Lift. I do understand that you know better than I first-hand on rating Accessibility of a venue, although ever since I started watching all your videos, I make note of Accessibility everywhere I go every day. Having said that, I would only give this resort a 6/10. Having poor pool access and stairs near the pool which I think is the key feature of any resort hurts the rating IMHO.

When i said that place was beutiful.. i meant the village or town outside that complex; now that i've seen the review of the place and not the time.. i would a 4 out of 5 in accessibility to the facilities, steps to get to the pool and no ramps with side rail to get in/out from the pool by oneself, too steep bridges to be crossed without help?, idk... . The local food on the turistic places don't use to match the real quality of the food that the people eat, that happens a lot here in Spain too, when the people go to the E or S coats or the islands, but also happens here on the N too. Idk, i just hope that you and your family had a good time and that you had a good brithday in that sunny land of our cousins in company of your family and friends, i liked to see the town.

Been to Mexico a few times. Nice place to visit. I would suggest if you have not or even if you have been before take a cruise the ships I have been on have all been very excusable but the rooms can be tight. but I know there are bigger rooms when traveling with family. The bathroom has always been very excusable. Ports of call, excusable changes with each stop.

Given all the non-accessible features of that hotel, I'm surprised you rated it so high. You are especially strong and have strong family members along, but other travelers often do not have those assets. I'm surprised they didn't have grab bars in all the room bathrooms (safety features for everyone), ramps on the decks, and accessibility on the tram. Was the resort on the beach? Did they have beach wheelchairs for going in the water? What about going to Southern California or Hawaii? A lot of municipalities and hotels along the California coast have cool beach wheelchairs. I'm not in a wheelchair, but I'm old and have mobility issues so that ramps, elevators, and smooth, level, surfaces are a must. I live in California and most places (curbs, all public buildings, hotels, restaurants) have ramps. I'm a retired lawyer and got interested in disability law around the the time the ADA was passed in the U.S. My dad needed a wheelchair the last 10 years of his life and our family struggled with accessibility. Still angry after all these years! Love your channel. Keep up the good work.

I probably rated it too high for standard accessibility standards but I was rating it based on my past experiences in Mexico, the fact that they don't have ADA type laws there, and my own needs. I also realize after having made the video that there are about a million things I didn't even take footage of or think to review. I'll definitely do a better job of taking all disabilities into consideration next time. Learning as I go lol.

We went to Mexico for cost reasons. The Canadian dollar is not great right now and going anywhere in the US cost us 35% more and places like Hawaii are expensive in general. Definitely on my list of places to go though!

  • @EmpoweredPara

It really doesn't matter to me what floor the room is on as long as I have access to it and the room works. I sometimes worry if there is only one elevator just in case it breaks down but other than that ADA rooms on other floors are the same as the ones on the ground floor.
