How a Terrible President Became Idolized, the Myth of Ronald Reagan
In the 1980s president Ronald Reagan created many of the social issues that Americans now face. he created discrimitory laws to target minorities and gay people. He gave huge tax cuts to the ultra rich while undermining the working and middle class. He was truly a terrible president.

I agree he was the worst
Thank you for pointing out Reagan was actively working against the treatment of Aids. (I knew he ignored Aids, I am 70, but I didn't know, I live in the UK, not US, that he was so actively fighting against the actions needed to slow the epidemic.) By simply requiring all blood transfusions were from unpaid volunteers, and testing for STDs, etc., very few people would have been infected by tainted transfusion : most people who had Aids, had already had multiple STDs.
Thank you for your video : it helped complement the various other sources on Reagan. He is only now coming into the light. It simply isn't possible to cover more than 1%, without taking days.
This is quality content ! Keep it up ! What topic will you do next ?

Thank you! I'll probably make a video about space travel or more American history
Loved this video, keep it up.

Reagan had such a permanent influence because he tipped the power balance, campaign contributions, in favour of the mill, 0.1%, by a factor of 4 to 5. His method : crushing unions, shifting the tax burden onto the lower income groups, waitresses, college students, anyone lower income, and relieving the wealthy of tax. He went all out to crush every lower income group. One month after he was inaugurated, tax audits were being performed on students, with fines imposed, and tipped waitresses had so much tax removed, they ended up paying the IRS. This meant he had to let the IRS know his intentions in the pre-inauguration run up, and have the papers read to sign as soon as he made his inauguration speech : his smile during that speech was due to his anticipating his signing of the Presidential orders crushing US citizens. Nixon, the man who wanted to nuke Hanoi, and had to be talked down by Henry Kissinger, told Reagan to "Stop going after the little guy." Don't forget the stunt Reagan pulled with the first Space Shuttle disaster : answer the question, Why did the senior management of Morton Thiokol believe they would suffer no consequences ?

The Space Shuttle program was a cost cutting scheme forced on NASA by the Republicans. It had problems from the beginning that were never solved, mainly the heat tiles kept falling off. That's what killed the Columbia. The Space Shuttles used solid state booster rockets that were left over from the military ICBM program. They were never designed to be used with humans onboard as they were considered too dangerous. That's what killed Challenger. :(

@@dfirth224 The original designer of the Space Shuttle expected a success rate of less than 95%. He only did it because he was facing bankruptcy. The first use of the Shuttle was military. The crew wanted a rescue due to tile loss. They were ordered to re-enter, and managed to do so, by using the tilting the Shuttle to the good side. (The people on the ground only received a low resolution image due to encryption. The crew should have sent a high resolution image in clear : had they done so, the project would have been abandoned. ) The Shuttle should have been used as a freighter, and the crew launched on a separate rocket, with a space docking. The Russian version of the Space Shuttle, had automatic controls. This would have solved both incidents, as a freighter exploding in mid-air, while serious, wouldn't have been lethal, and having an independent method of re-entry, would have solved the tile problem. (A less complacent attitude to safety would have lead to the tile problem being found. )

@@dfirth224 Aerojet won the contract for the space shuttle solid rocket boosters : their design was monolith, preventing any possibility of white hot high pressure rocket gas escaping from the boosters. Their win was overruled by a man from Salt Lake City, the home of Morton Thiokol. (The Mormons backed Reagan. Watch Reagans speech on the Challenger disaster to the end, and you will notice he looks very nervous when he said there would be no coverup. )
He was the best president in modern time
