How a Montana Mom Became the FBI's Secret Weapon Against Al Qaeda🎙Darknet Diaries Ep. 145: Shannen

Ғылым және технология

The terror attacks on September 11, 2001 changed everyone's life, around the world. But for Shannen Rossmiller, a judge in rural Montana, understanding how it happened and who would do such a thing became an obsession. Despite the danger to her life and family, she went undercover in extremist online forums and assumed the identity of multiple Arabic-speaking men to lure the architects of future attacks into a brilliant trap.
But that's only the beginning of Shannen's heroic and nerve-wracking crusade for justice.

The best kind of protection is to get in early and the witness on the stand will be an office Several officers reading off their notes which tell the prosecutions story when the right officer answers the question for the appropriate time. Their work address is used instead of their home address.

What an incredible story! Gripping from start to finish. I cannot wrap my head around how Shannen, American as apple pie, living in fucking Montana, just up and casually learned Arabic and started operating in these clandestine circles with a newly acquired language. The Osama Khasser (idk if spelled right) swindle is insane given it was all communicated in Arabic. Google translate didn't come out until 2006, and you can bet that anything then was nowhere near the quality we take for granted today. She said f*** 9/11, f*** Al-Qaeda, and then became a cyber intelligence savant. Legend

On the morning of Tuesday September 11th 2001, I was 20 to and it was my day off. I was about to to take my first programming exam in college and was going to sleep in a little because I didn't have to wake up at 6 am for work. My girlfriend at the time comes busting in the bedroom screaming that a plane had hit the WTC in New York. I jumped outta bed and ran to the livingroom in time to watch as the second plane flew into the tower. You talk about a sense of dread... I had no idea what to do... I thought this was the beginning of the end as I watched as history played out live and as the world changed forever.

The FBI messed up so bad!!! And the prosecutor should have HID her identity and the fact he pushed for her to fully identify herseld putting herself, her career, her families lives, and friends, and innocent people around her if a bomb goes off or something. 5 holes in the car is a sign... 1 for each family members... If it was my wife, i would insist she stop after thr stolen car and bullet holes... Her moving forward and continuing is putting her families lives in danger and to me, thats too much. To see her put her life in danger, and everyones else.

Maybe a bit of a harsh take but she accepted what she was going to be in for as soon as she started, especially as a judge. Prosecution's objective is to prosecute first, and everything else comes after. If she wanted to retain anonymity, she would've had to accept the fact that she had to hand over her info without any guarantee of action being taken or any updates. Didn't seem like who she was though.

It seems they were more interested in making convictions rather than protecting their asset and building a whole underground online intelligence operation in the middleeast. For some reason I feel if M16 or SAS was on this, it would have been way more covert. I'm just saying. Cos they put that wonderful citizen and her family in harms way
