How a Henry AR-7 works

In 1980, the design and production rights passed on to Henry Repeating Arms and the compact rifle was slightly revised, resulting in improved reliability and durability. The AR-7 is now (2018) known as the Henry U.S. Survival AR-7 rifle. An ABS material replaced the original stock plastic, which was prone to cracking and failure. The receiver recess in the Henry stock allows storage of receiver with a magazine in place and the rifle is normally sold with two magazines. The latest versions of the Henry allow for storage of three magazines total, with two in the stock recess, and one in the receiver. The modern Henry U.S. Survival Rifle floats on water for a while either assembled or stored, although it's not entirely waterproof and will sink eventually. The rifles now include a full Teflon coating on the outer surface. A 3/8 inch Weaver rail mount on the top of the receiver for attaching a wide variety of optics is now standard.

I bought 3 of these survival rifles one for me and one for each ones of my youngest daughter's we all still have them great little survival guns .

@CIA BETA Wing yes, inexpensive and reliable with 2 caveats, sometimes magazines are faulty but its a super easy fix, it can get finiky shooting low grade ammo in large quantities, I recommend CCI for .22 lr

My favourite gun. Quiet, light and basic. Got a Savage 1899, Charger Arms shotgun and a Lee Enfield mk 4 but when I'm out on the plains in Zimbabwe, AR7 wins for being quiet and cheap to shoot
this video is amazing in it,s graphics .I don't know about most of the comments, but as a way to show the mechanics,I find this facinating.

@@user-nu5it5kc9b This would likely be impossible for this riffle, as it is a direct blowback mechanism. This works for something like the Makarov, because it has a relatively small caliber. You are gonna have a fun time with anything bigger than a 9mm. But! On the flip side! If you simply scale everything for 9mm and then toss a drum mag in there you essentialy have a Thompson.

I have one and this is perfect! It’s an exact cad model of an ar-7.
A really interesting, informative and entertaining video, I've always liked cutaway drawings and photographs, and this is an evolution from those. Superb graphics, excellent detail, its a reall pleasure to watch.

My grandpa passed and left me with not only a car, but this! He somehow made it over the border with this while being a convicted felon, but when I got it yesterday I started a journey because it was in rough shape.. no stock, mag release or ejector. I cleaned her up and she does shoot. A little hit or miss sometimes but eh nothing a little clp and some brushes won’t fix. Hopefully this week I can find some original furniture or maybe just some aftermarket wooden furniture.

Interesting video. It shows the rifle discharging when the trigger goes forward rather than when the trigger is pulled.

Watch a little closer, when the trigger is let go the hammer does drop a little bit, but if you pay attention that's the trigger resetting on going forward instead of actually releasing. There's 2 separate sear surfaces on the hammer and trigger, one for the reset and one for the release

No it doesn't. Watch closer. That is the sear mechanism on a semi auto.

Yes on the ar7 there is no last round bolt hold open so if you pull the trigger after the 8th shot you dry fire

Some manufacturers did create pistols using the same AR-7 receiver and mags in the spirit of the bolomauser. Charter Arms Explorer II comes to mind.

There have been instances of large bears being killed by a single shot from a .22LR chambered rifle. I believe that shot placement was critical, with the eye socket providing access to the brain cavity with only soft matter to penetrate.

@@felixcat9318 I wouldn't rely on a .22 for any large game. They are meant for animals like rabbits. I wouldn't even use a .22 for coyotes; 223 maybe.
