Little did Marvel players know, Kusoru is an incredibly wild and notorious Sol Badguy player (hence the name) in Japan who relentlessly trolls people with incredibly character specific gimmicks and just being an absolute wildcard with veteran levels of game knowledge. While Guilty Gear and MVC are wildly different games, Kusoru wasn't some rando who trolled the western FGC, he was already a troll back home. And sadly, he trolled America a bit too hard and stated that he didn't like the negative vibes coming from all the salt he mined and said he wouldn't be coming back.

@@KatsudonNeet Wrong though? Kuso = literally means ‘Shit’, hence for example we have Kusoge which means “Shitty game” (can be a +ve thing or a -ve thing) Kusoru = basically like wordplay(?) It would be “Shitty Sol” He calls himself a “Shitty Sol” because he is unconventional compared to the other JP sols. But also because he thinks he does not compare to other top JP players like Woshige, Samitto, FAB who could catch on to it Though, nobody cant compare to his trolling except Endou!

He typically goes off rocketing in the air spamming roman cancels, riot stamps like some early dream of mankind. Why does he do this? He wants you to move out of your comfort zone making you see visually crazy stuff. Kusoru wants you either scared or alone in the woods.
I love how after the match, PR Balrog could've been angry or upset about the celebration going on next to him. Instead though, he was happy for Ageojoe and was able to enjoy the moment with him. Great level of sportsmanship showed by PR Balrog

As someone who watched in person and cheered on kusoru, I have to say his run through MvC3 was pretty special to behold. Also the level of shock and salt from the room watching Japan take the crown in "America's game" was amusing. Although I think the level of pride in US Marvel also in some ways discouraged kusoru from coming to play MvC3 in the US again. I seem to remember he even tweeted something along the lines of US pride in Marvel is no joke.

Imagine when the FGC pride of your country is MvC -- the jankiest fighting game ever made. Probably because other countries don't care enough to be good at it. The audience screaming "A! A! A! A!" while an infinite combo is executed solely by pressing that button is just.. sad.

Just a hidden note about 5:22 that not many people catch. The reason why AGEOJOE/Kusoru puts down the trap was to try to push block her into it, which is why you see his R.Raccoon teleport right beside her. Unfortunately he was JUST too far for the push block to push Phoenix right into the spring trap, but he was very fortunate that it still saves him in the end.
@zeppelincraft1443
Жыл бұрын
Another note. The game you see at 5:38 is Sengoku Basara Xross. A fighting game notoriously know in the JP communisty for being blighted with horrendous balance that is...you guessed it, one of Kusoru's favorites. The JP streaming service was filled with comments of "AHHHH! MY EYES!", "WHY YOU DO THIS" and "STAHP". There is one character in particular (Mori Motonari) which is in a tier of its own that if your enemy picks it in the arcade your way of countering it is "leaving the seat and buy some juice, then reconsider your life playing this game".

Too bad Somehow the community there hated him or something that led him to left UMvC3
The moment where he rolls through the Phoenix pop, x-factors, and supers her into oblivion is one of the all-time hypest moments. Just absolutely beautiful to watch.
One thing that wasn't mentioned is how you can't super jump during an assist and how it's part of why Viewtiful Joe works so well on this team. Because of his triple jump he can call assists from the top of the screen and make it hard for people to react to them. That combined with the Red Hot Kick letting him dive in at will is part of what makes this combination so scary.
As someone that isn't a Marvel player and wasn't there to see moments like these. It's very cool to learn and hear about players like Joe, through someone with appreciation for the game.
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite channels. I know very little about MvC specifically but hearing these stories and the way you break the game down is something I've truly come to enjoy.

Same, and as a viewtiful joe main, it was so hype.
The match against FilipinoChamp is my favorite ever for sure. In one of the following matches there is a crazy setup where he drops a bomb with Joe, then does a air throw that sends the character on the bomb and gets to combo OTG from it, never saw that anywhere else.
I already knew the outcome but I still get hype seeing Ageojoe play like this.
Thank you so much for making this video, it's the perfect thing to link to every time Kusoru and MVC3 gets mentioned. He often comes up during tier discussions so it's wonderful have it all broken down so concisely!
I remember so many people getting hit by the team because it was so surprising for the assist to come out despite Joe being at super jump height. V Joe being able to get all them jumps and call that fast assist was messed up

It was a good time as a stream monster. There was a nice overlap of old and new personalities, streaming was just far enough along to give everybody a show, and there was a decent selection of games (the quality of online play was wonky, but eh!). Fast forward 10 years: MAHVEL is on ice (despite the MCU dominating the media), FGC folk have started families/moved on, and people argue about the same handful of topics on Twitter. There are pros and cons to both eras.
First off great video and break down @papalobster! Eventhough Ageo Joe / Kusoru is the main focus of this video. He had a lot of help from the entire FRB team and one crazy ass FRB season prior to Final Round that year. Fun fact, the TAC infinite glitch and some other glitches that are now used at high level play were 1st discovered/documented by AgeJoe/Kusoru. He uploaded a video on youtube/nico nico explaining them, and that video was submitted to the SRK staf that ran the front page, so they posted an article with the translation. How do I know? I was the one that provided the link to SRK since I followed him for his GG videos and at the time I thought it could be interesting for tech (little did I know it would be the tech, lol), so I contacted d3v on the forums since he was part of the staff/mod team. He is the unsong hero of MVC3, since a lot of the tech that USA us today comes from him, lol.
I love how buddy stunted on em at the end of matches

One thing your should've mentioned is how triple jumps reach the height of one super jump. Usually during a super jump you *can not call assists* unless you call them before super jumping, but single/double/triple jumps can still have assist calls during their air time! Been loving your vids by the way. Love the words ya use for matches, it really feels lively~

A breakdown of Fanatiq vs RayRay would be interesting. Fanatiq got the best of it but I'm sure you will be able to highlight exactly why he was able to win.
I remember this. You had to have been there watching when F Champ flips out on the pause screen. At the time he was like a villain in a sense and to see him get his comeuppance was insane

This video was killer, Joe is easily my favorite players.
Legendary set from a legendary player!
This gave birth to my main strategy, spam log traps with Albert Wesker in the lead. Wesker would just use his gun instead of the boomerang, and of course, log trap is being spammed the whole god damn time. As soon as you clip them, and you do clip them, albert's teleport into full combo is always the response. Thank you AgeoJoe!
MvC at this time was so much fun. For as long as it was played I was down to watch the game was just infinitely fun and wild. I know some people didn't like the infinite combos and such but it made the game so hyped. The come back possibilities, the tech, you were never out of a match and you could end a game in the blink of an eye with any character.
Goated video like always bro 💪

Yooo that Frank West roll into xfactor into special on a transforming Phoenix has to be one of the coolest ways to win imo.
I remember watching him during this time...very entertaining
I think the best blink-and-you'll-miss-it detail here is around 10:50, when everyone starts chanting USA, you can see behind AgeoJoe F.Champ is getting in on it too... Until Joe starts chanting with them, and the smile just completely drops from his face!
