This is a quick guide that explains some of the mechanics that the tutorial of For Answer fails to - as well as touching on some multiplayer bugs that are very common.
Some things I forgot to mention:
- Using Machine Guns in both arms will generate the same bug where you don't hit any shots on enemy screens. Use machine gun arms instead!
- Holding down L3 disables your lock on. You don't ever want to do this.

So many people…
I got into armored core because of Armored Core 6 that came out recently, and my attempts at trying to get into one that friend recommend me the most, For Answers, was really rough because of my lack of understanding how the movement works. Thanks to you I can now actually play semi-well the game! Thanks alot and great video!
I don't know why in every tutorial I've seen before people told to turn the auto sight off and I followed this advice. You're the only one who said the opposite and it looks like a game changer to me, the gameplay just looks better, need to try it out today Thank you for the tutorial, finally understood how to do quick turn consistently!

glad you talked about second staging. since armored core has been dead for so long, most knowledge on second staging was basically lost. only a handful of videos had any information on it at all, and it was usually crusty ass 240p recorded on an iphone 10 years ago, and poorly explained at that. iirc, there i remember talk of there being even further "stages" of boosting that can be reached. like iirc "staging" works more like a gauge, and the more precise you are, the more you'll travel.
@invyt

I believe you’re right, people refer to a perfect one as a “third stage” but some people disagree with that and I can’t do it so I decided not to mention it - to be real anyone who manages to get consistent enough at second staging will probably figure it out though
Back when the xb360 community was active from game release to 2010, alot of us had to learn this stuff on our own or friendly players taught each different techniques. I had to learn to make my own style of chain boosting with learning to time Ogoto grenades to shoot people on the ground. ;p Though on the autosight, when sniping using a quad build. I found manuel aiming quicker than autosighting.
Just started playing yesterday and when i was looking at the control scheme, Rgular-B seemed like far and away the best way to control the AC. Kinda funny this popped up in my recommended and i just happen to pick it as my control scheme haha
the funny thing for me was I would accidentally do a quick turn and could never figure out how to recreate it. So thanks I think you might have just given me what I need to up my game by a ton with just that.

A good video. Its nice to see someone actually explain how quick turning and second staging works for once, instead of just assuming everyone already knows. But I would be wary of recommending auto sighting for everyone. Its not as perfect as you make it sound. In missions, you'll mostly just end up fighting against it, because it can cause huge problems when you have more than one target in view. I ended up turning it off very quickly when I first played AC4A, because all it ever did was force turn me towards an enemy I didn't want to aim at. Its more likely to lock onto the random MT in the corner of your screen, than the AC that's actually going to kill you. And even without it, I have never felt like its too hard to keep your target in view. I always thought auto sight was intended as a workaround for people that play with the A type controls, since then you always need your thumb on X and A instead of the right stick, or you can't shoot. And since type B controls actually make sense, it makes auto sighting unnecessary. Plus, I just plain find the game more fun without it. There is already so much auto aiming happening, having it actually turn your whole AC for you just feels like its taking too much control away from the player.
@invyt
11 ай бұрын
This video is mostly from the perspective of PvP, so auto sight locking on to the wrong enemy isn’t usually an issue. You can just look left/right to select your auto sight target if it becomes an issue, or press triangle to cycle between locked targets. Auto sight is indeed not perfect, but it is more than enough to keep any enemy in the game on screen and most players within your lockbox (assuming you build your ac right).

My take on autosight: If you want to sweat, learn how to play WITHOUT autosight before playing WITH it. I don't mean this as skill gatekeeping, I mean that you will play better WITH autosight if you know how to visually track the target with your eyes WITHOUT it, and having the experience also means you will have more than the requisite gameplay skill to react appropriately when you have to manually turn. It's a nice function but it's entirely possible to just "get gud" and do it manually. It's not the easiest thing in the world but it's well within the human capacity.

@@purpleboye_ What are you even talking about..? If you put the shoot buttons on the face then you would not be able to shoot and aim at the same time without a claw grip of some type. And.. what do you mean three weapon groups? You have a total of four weapons and two of those can be active at any given time. Your shoulders, which are usually flares, can be activated at any time. Instead of typing all this out, why don't you just like.... go try it? The game is free, there's a guide on how to set up the emulator on my channel.

@@invyt Notice how ac6 made perfect use of the face buttons without using any of them for shooting. Honestly starting with ac6 may have been a mistake since it looks like the only ac game with good controls.

@@purpleboye_ AC6 does not have pressure sensitive boost controls, so its boost button can be on a button that is not pressure sensitive. Armored Core For Answer has pressure sensitive boost inputs. So you need them on pressure sensitive buttons. Have you like... actually booted up the game and tried it yet? Or are you still just "imagining" things?
I disagree with about half of this.

@@invyt If I elaborated, that would mean I was serious. I have a better control scheme, but to be fair, it's not objectively better, just subjectively. It's not wildly different from B and my scheme makes assault armor easier, but only slightly. Also consider that my scheme is not on an Xbox controller. It DOES have triggers, however. Over boost is certainly limited use, again, I half agree. Everything is yes, up until it is not.
