I moved from Houston to NYC in 99 and no one would take my recommendations on listening to UGK or even the Geto Boys. They knew Mind Playing Tricks and that's it. It took Big Pimpin to really opened up their eyes to Texas. That track slowly but surely changed the game for UGK and a lot of Southern artists in general. Big ups to Bun B for seeing the potential and encouraging Pimp C to take part.

This wasn’t a situation where they desperately needed to do that song , was it a great move in the end , hell yeah of course, it’s a legendary song. But neither party needed to do it. It’s not always about the money. I’m not saying Pimp C was in the right or wrong either , it’s just the principle about him standing on how he felt. Whether he knew Pac or not. So he wasn't trying to ride wit Pac's enemies. That's probably why Bun told the story of Pimp talking to the Pac poster and getting his approval. It's funny that people get on social media and try to rewrite history (without a pen) and say Jay-Z wasn't big down south. After Hard Knock Life, Jay-Z was big everywhere.
