Houston 4K - Sunset Drive - Driving Downtown
Houston is the fourth most populous city in the United States, most populous city in the U.S. state of Texas, as well as the sixth most populous in North America, with an estimated 2018 population of 2,325,502. Houston's economy since the late 20th century has a broad industrial base in energy, manufacturing, aeronautics, and transportation. Leading in healthcare sectors and building oilfield equipment, Houston has the second most Fortune 500 headquarters of any U.S. municipality within its city limits (after New York City). The Port of Houston ranks first in the United States in international waterborne tonnage handled and second in total cargo tonnage handled. Nicknamed the "Space City”, "H-Town", and “the 713”, Houston has become a global city, with strengths in culture, medicine, and research.
Located in Southeast Texas near Galveston Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, it is the seat of Harris County and the principal city of the Greater Houston metropolitan area, which is the fifth most populous metropolitan statistical area in the United States and the second most populous in Texas after the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, with a population of 6,997,384 in 2018. It is home to many cultural institutions and exhibits, which attract more than 7 million visitors a year to the Museum District. Houston has an active visual and performing arts scene in the Theater District and offers year-round resident companies in all major performing arts.
Comprising a total area of 637.4 square miles (1,651 km2), Houston is the eighth most expansive city in the United States (including consolidated city-counties). It is the largest city in the United States by total area, whose government is not consolidated with that of a county, parish or borough. Though primarily in Harris County, small portions of the city extend into Fort Bend and Montgomery counties, bordering other principal communities of Greater Houston such as Sugar Land and The Woodlands.
The city of Houston was founded by land speculators on August 30, 1836, at the confluence of Buffalo Bayou and White Oak Bayou (a point now known as Allen's Landing) and incorporated as a city on June 5, 1837.
The arrival of the 20th century saw a convergence of economic factors which fueled rapid growth in Houston, including a burgeoning port and railroad industry, the decline of Galveston as Texas' primary port following the 1900 hurricane, the subsequent construction of the Houston Ship Channel, and the Texas oil boom. In the mid-20th century, Houston's economy diversified as it became home to the Texas Medical Center-the world's largest concentration of healthcare and research institutions-and NASA's Johnson Space Center, where the Mission Control Center is located.

I moved from Houston in 1995, I worked for Exxon and seeing the Exxon Tower come into view as you were driving down Milam brought back years of memories. I moved to Oklahoma and live a simple country life compared to what I lived in Houston, but this video makes me miss the old home town. You can take the boy out of Texas, but you can’t take Texas out of the boy. Thanks for the video.

The title is misleading...it should say, "Houston Downtown," just so ya'll know, there's so much more to Houston.

I went to Houston a few weeks ago from Dallas and I enjoyed the true culture Houston has to offer. Everything was representing the love for this city from the radio station to the news channel media with the live DJ. Even the food abundance of food trucks in the neighborhood street. Buses run every 15 minutes and the Houston Galleria is pedestrian user friendly and has easy welcoming access to entrance ways unlike the Dallas Galleria. Houston really loves its people and they show love back.

Impressive. Beats the heck out of Google Earth/Street View. I'm originally from NYC. I was used to in-town traffic that would crawl for hours between traffic lights. Downtown Houston has never really had that issue. (I've lived in Houston for the last 40 years) Of course, the same can't be said for the freeways.
I am hoping to move to Houston next summer. I love the hot and humid weather, and I love driving the 610 loop at night to relax and listen to music. I also love how the 610 highway on the east side of the city shoots up into the sky like a roller coaster before heading back down.

I’m an in grafted New Yorker living in this awesome city with these kind of structures, incredulous freeways, outstanding roads, tons of entertainment places, restaurants for every kind of palate, massive shopping centers and NO state tax. I could go on for awhile and this video obviously was shot on a Sunday eve when it’s this quiet. Come and visit and you may consider moving. Also there’s jobs everywhere. Love this town.
Your videos are great please do the silicon valley and surroundings
Looks great, what was this filmed with?
I really appreciate the videos that you make. It's quite entertaining to be able to see new cities or be reminded of past experiences in ones while also seeing the changes they've gone through. it's my opinion that your documentation will be of use for history purposes 50-100 years from etc. Just a suggestion but I think it'd be cool if you did a 200k subscriber AMA so we could get to know the person behind the camera.
J Utah when did you film this drive like what month?
Such a Great city!
From Dallas, live in Houston and just watched your Dallas drive before this one. Big difference in the cities. Houston has some wonderful trees in areas around downtown that you should drive through next time. Lived in the Montrose for years, now in the Medical Center and those would also be great drives. Keep up the good work. Also I was curious since you are all over the world how do you obtain your driving routes?
