this "can i see some ID" has to stop, the cops in the US do this too, when they KNOW there is no requirement for you to ID then they are using deception and that should be a punishable offence, it's disgusting that the police should try a confidence trick to get information they have no right to. they should be fined for refusing to verbally identify themselves.

I know someone who recently joined the met. Apparently, they do not walk beats. They are ferried around in a van and sit around until directed to do otherwise. I was also amazed to discover they no longer do lifesaving as it is deemed too dangerous to try and rescue people, and they no longer do the St John's ambulance first aid course and qualification. So what exactly DO they do, eh?
