You said you don’t necessarily like your _Monstera adansonii_ - I say put it on a plank or pole, or something vertical, & you’ll love it. I had that happen… now I feel anything that has visible aerial root nodes should be supported to look it’s best! I was the same way before I mounted my adansonii! The plant was straggly & unkempt until I put it on a pole. Then the leaves got huge & every single root node had a leaf growing from it! And it was in semi-hydro! Best plant ever. I think that’s what all Monstera, in particular, really need to do well-is to go upwards. Like, you can grow Adansonii, or even M. siltepecana, deliciosa, borsigiana, standleyana, etc. in a hanging setup but in general they wont do as well. People let their M. deliciosa & adansonii grow casually, I know, but they are true climbers. Unlike the other vining aroids, like Epipremnum, Pothos, certain Philodendrons, a few types of Scindapsus or Syngonium, that can “get away with” being grown hanging or sprawling.. monstera seem to really seek out support. Hanging or sprawling is not necessarily what they want. They’ll grow, of course, but with smaller leaves, not as vigorously & possibly die sooner. But I digress…

I think you’re right- I’ve seen smaller trailing full baskets of adansonii and they look great, but mine started so mall and jouvenile to begin with that it just doesn’t look good as is and really not thriving.
