House Rarely Noticed Blooper Hugh Laurie Laughs
Фильм және анимация
This is a House M.D. blooper. Hugh Laurie laughs at the end after he says that he has run out of insults to call the fat man. I had no tripod available so, it's a little shaky.
I DO NOT OWN HOUSE M.D. or have any affiliation with either FOX, NBC, USA or any other network that could take down my account.

I must agree. it's noticeable. His voice is different near the end. It's a genuine laugh, and not a usual House sarcastic sneer. House wouldn't have found it that funny. It's definitely improv here. I love it. Which episode is this?

I like how in the last quip his smile gradually grew bigger as he broke character then rushed out of scene
I agree. In 6 years this is the only time I've seen him break character. It's not that House doesn't smile. It's that Hugh Laurie has completely different facial expressions than House does. Look at the cane breaking (Safe) or eating and laughing with Wilson (Damned If You Do and Saviors.) Those are Greg House smiles. In this clip it was a Hugh Laurie smile and I've always thought they should have edited it out.

I think there is another instance where Hugh breaks character. When he breaks the champagne bottle with a sword in the first episode of season 7.

@@WesBeardtooth Not as noticeable as this, though. You could also chalk it up to House feeling happy for the first time since who knows when.
It's more of a Laurie laugh than a House laugh, but probably kept there as it fits the scene
Those who know House the character know that you would never see him laugh that wholeheartedly. That was all Hugh Laurie. It was definitely a break in character, but it worked so I assume that's why they left it in there. I like it.
I’m noticing that the very end of this clip looks as though Laurie is about to burst despite not slipping into British accent. I can just sense the entire crew laughing in the back either the moment they called cut on this moment or if they didn’t hold it in after 0:34

Usually, based on other bloopers, he kept his American accent whenever he failed a scene and his og accent was barely heard.
Love how out of the hundreds of House episodes, I so happened to watch this exact episode yesterday, then this gets recommended to me.
i dont think its a blooper, but i DO think it makes him adorable.

It's definitely a blooper. There's a lot of difference between Lauries's genuine smile and laugh and House's.
watch house episodes a little closely and you will find scenes where jennifer and jesse almost crack up esp when hugh is speaking. omar is so cool the cams can't catch him.
@Jackiesparrow22 If you watch House, then Hugh in interview, they couldn't be further apart. Hugh not only changes his accent, his walk, his speech pattern, his body language, & facial expressions, but even lowers the pitch of his natural speaking voice for House. It's highly unlikely he would allow himself to grin or laugh unintentionally & have it printed.
When I watched the episode for the first time I rewinded this part like 4 times because of it's epicness
It's definitely a blopper, but it's funny they decided to keep it XD
Hugh Laurie came out with the old Prince George laugh.
It's amazing how Hugh Laurie became a superstar by just doing a silly American accent. Hugh must still be pinching himself about that I think.
@tspeakstlives

It's more than just the American accent (which is hard to perfect the way he has done). He is a star because of how multi talented and good of an actor he is. Specifically for this show because of how well he nailed playing Gregory House.

@@tspeakstlives for someone like Laurie the American accent is easy. It just makes me laugh a bit that's all. I grew up in the late 80s and 90s watching Hugh doing tv sketch comedy with Stephen Fry, and often he would do an American accent in sketches. Just brings a smile to my face seeing how he became a star in the states just rehashing that silly accent lol!!

It was way more than the accent. The way he emoted was incredible. He had that incredibly sad look nailed.
This was a scene in the official episode. Everyone who watches the show will have seen it, it's not like it's just a couple frames. Even if the laugh was unintentional, it wouldn't have made it into the show if it didn't fit the character so I'm taking this as confirmation that House does, indeed, laugh at his own jokes like this.

So, Greg laughing at his own jokes is canon Noted
im pretty sure the laugh was intentional
i saw this episode like a week ago and I kept going back because I thought I missed a joke in the backround lol
i think it was a hugh laurie moment and agree that it was an ad lib. he continued the scene and they kept it. both my husband and i thought it was an "unusual' cute moment.
that wasn't a blooper. it was in the scene. part of his act. he laughed because the line was meant to be funny.
i think he was acting that laugh, House is allowed to have a sense of humour some times y'know
At first I thought it was unintentional but after thinking for a moment I believe it to be intentional and even if it was a blooper, they would have cut it because it's way too obvious.
HOUSE DEFINITELY ROCKS!!!
@downwithBEEandDREE14 the blooper is him starting to laugh at the end of his words. And just by the way he does it im sure it wasnt scripted like that but it was small and clever enough for them to ignore.
...and he was pleased with the unexpected situation of running out of things to call the guy.
I just finished watching this episode like half an hour ago and it shows up in my recommended
I am completely certain this this is NOT a blooper or unintentional in any way
lol I love this bit I always thought it was a blooper coz it's totally un-house, so funny :)
I'm so glad someone else noticed... 14 years ago.
@Jackiesparrow22 I doubt it. Hugh is very much a perfectionist in all he does, & would want to retake if he felt for a second that his real persona had peeped through. Every facial expression & vocal intonation you see is exactly what he intended. Everything else is for the outtakes. Nothing would would make him more anxious than to feel he'd let down his colleagues. He has old school English humility in that respect.

lol @ all the "experts" who "know". We don't know period. It seems more likely that this was a Hugh-Laurie laugh which they left in because you can barely notice it. However, you could argue that House was laughing about his own jokes.
That didn't seem like a usual "House" laugh to me - rather a Hugh Laurie laugh. So it might be that he wasn't meant to be laughing, but since he did, they figured they might as well just leave it in.
great catch! :] haha. now i'll pay more attention to those things as well.
i love it when hugh makes bloopers :P couse he never really laughs as house so when he messes up you see the real him :P witch is awe-some
I'm glad they left it in, but that was definitely Hugh, not House. Cute moment.
i LOOOVE house.

I noticed that aswell when I watched the episode :p
Did he also chuckle slightly after the 96ZZ comment?
I actually think that too...
haha 96 double z's whatever you wanna call it this scene was hilarious
i think it WAS a blooper.. they just decided to leave it
Fits better as an intentional laugh. Since House always thinks he's brilliant. Especially when it comes to jokes and euphemisms.
I watched this episode yesterday, thought “oh he laughed”, and then a 14 year old video pops up in my reconvened about it
oh yes...that laugh was bloopy !!!
That 100% was improv. I called it the first time I watched the scene😂
That's how it is in the episode but was it scripted or was it a Hugh thing/blooper/call it what you will that they decided to leave in? Hugh has said that he has occasionally improvised during a take, maybe this was one occasion.
i'm pretty sure that was just in the script... i would laugh at myself too if i said that in real life... it's a great line!
Unintentional, but works; just like in Full Metal Jacket and Tropic Thunder.
definitely hugh laurie laugh thus blooper!
Nice!
My thoughts exactly.
I DO OWN HOUSE!
That's called acting, It's part of the scene/Character. Look up a script for that episode.. =\
What episode is this?
Im more focused on annoyed Jen Morrisson face everytime House throws the punchline 😂😂😂
I wouldn't laugh if I were Dr. House.
Hmmm, I'm not sure if it's a blooper or not. It's tough to say. Whichever it is, still hilarious!
The idea that you find this actual intentional smile a blooper says a LOT about hugh lauries acting
deff a blooper
its an ad-lib
Looks like a blooper except they don't normally put bloopers in the show, because then it wouldn't be a blooper.
Blooper or not, it's funny. X)
its not a blooper, did you see the "bros before hos" scene in season 2, wilson was laughing like it was genuine reaction, season 1 with vogler, house throws a line chi mcbride genuinely laughed at house's jokes
he looks at the camera too. definitely a blooper. nice catch
It's almost like the actors can't act like humans in the show, or that's what they were looking for.
@Drumlord009 i guess thats how the lines supposed to go but you hear hugh holding his laugh in, and fails as he walks away. it's totally out of character!
yeah i don't think that was a blooper i've seen this ep like a million x cause they always rerun it and i'm pretty sure that was purposely put or left in there
It works, but only when you don't focus on it. I have to say, I thought it was a little wierd when I saw it at first though. It probably would have been better if they'd gone with a smoother take.
Heheh yea this was definitely improv
it's not a blooper; it's an adlib; they cut bloopers, remember? ;-)
it's not a blooper.he just grins...
How's that rarely noticed?
=P .... i was just trying to fit the comedic situation...nothing else.. lol
He doesn't say fat man at the end...lol listen close at :34
It’s not a blooper and it’s not a smile either, he’s walking without his cane so high grimaces, it looks like a smile from the angle of the camera until you look closely you see there are no crows feet at the end of his eyes and his expression before he comes on scene is neutral, it’s a grimace as he walks on his bad leg to get to his cane, not a blooper in fact the opposite. An incredible actor.

This isn't a blooper. It was House the character laughing, not Hugh's screw-up. And even if it was an unintentional laugh, they left in the episode, so clearly it wasn't enough of a blooper.
@mlnmrttm somewhere in season 3
@Dubaifreak he could be renting
Comment fine. No thumbs down :)
That is not a blooper, why the hell would he walk thru the door and not off the set if it was a blooper, and why would they keep it in if it was? And, unless he ad-libs the whole episode, he meant to say that.
What blooper?? I see no blooper...
i dont't think that his laugh is a blooper.. it's just ironic as always...

@Dubaifreak funny comment, I've never seen so many thumbs up! :)
Not a blooper, it's part of the episode. You think that they'd leave it in if they really didn't it?
@Dubaifreak ok :) glad you didn't start swearing at me like everybody else would.... :)
@Dubaifreak Well the lack of grammar skills would probably not have helped in landing a job with sufficient pay to allow him to afford his own home, though this is merely conjecture.
Pretty sure it was intentional...
@JMGOODELL Actually he does laugh like that sometimes. Such as when he makes the "clams have the largest penis of any animal" joke at the end of All In. Also when he's in the MRI machine and Wilson pretends to be God.
@whitewzl if it was part of the character then he wouldnt have started smiling. house never smiles
Clearly that wasn't a blooper!
what does he say at the end? He says " this conversation is over because i've offically run out of clever things to call a..." and i cant tell what he says.
