What is the name of the song at the very beginning?

What really broke me this episode was the moment Aegon, actively drinking himself to stupor, had Sunfyre brought out. His gorgeous dragon clearly loves him so much. He gave Aegon a little bop, a little chest bump, and Aegon smiled so lovingly 😭 And the parallel with Rhaenys telling Meleys "We're off to battle again, old girl" 😭 The bond between dragon and rider is so strong. It makes this conflict so haunting and heartbreaking.

Because of her fierceness and pride, they lost one of their best counselors and most experienced dragons.🤨

Maturity is in knowing that the skill lies in the deagon - rider not the dragon itself. Vhaghar is no doubt the largest but is also the oldest and can barely lift her own weight but Aemond is smart enough to know her vulnerability and change her weakness to her strength. Big doesn't automatically mean better. (Eg. You saw what happened to "big" U.S.S..R.). All Credit to the Greens and Aemond! ✊️

I don’t know how you can watch the last episode and look at how Aemond outsmarted the other side multiple time and think Aemond skill isn’t part of it.

They are dumb to show the commoners that the dragons can be slain. That will eventually lead to the sack of dragon pit and the downfall of the royal families.

Rhaenys didn't even scream at all till the end. She was brave, smart and she dies with an honorable death.

The best episode of the season thus far. Rhaenys and Meleys' death has been on my mind all day. Rhaenys was filled with wisdom and kindness and was a true friend. Plus, I had been looking forward to a dragon fight and oh, boy! We sure got it!

I think she knew she was on a kamikaze mission. She was the one til now saying never send in the dragons because it’s a nuclear option. She decided that’s the only option left and took it upon herself to do this showing Rhaenyra this is what they have to do. I guess Aegon shouldn’t have humiliated Aegon last episode. I feel that he’s still alive but in bad shape because they would’ve shown him dead. Sad to see her and her dragon go. It was truly heartbreaking

Take solace in the fact that animals fight all the time. When dragons rules the skies before the doom, dragons would fight often. It’s part of nature. But I do agree that these are human conflicts. Then again dragons like vhagar are so old this might be the only exciting things to happen for her in decades

we thought viserys looked bad when he was about to croak. by how its described in the books. i think we are going to be more shocked by aegons appearance for the remainder of his life. the initial look of which is pretty fn gnarly. and doesnt look too much better over time.

*The* *Red* *Dragon* *and* *the* *Gold* Currently the highest rated HOT D episode on IMDb. Not only for this season, but for the entire series. Currently at a 9.7 as I type this, higher than The Lord of the Tides (S1E8) at 9.3. This makes up for last week’s episode which has the lowest IMDb score at 7.9, lower than The Princess and the Queen (S1E6) at 8.0. So it’s official, this is HOT D’s best episode ever so far among the 14. I’ll admit, this episode did start off a bit too slow. This is not on the level of close to nonstop action like The Watchers on the Wall and Battle of the Bastards were. But the last 15 minutes of this episode is easily the best action from the series only rivaled by Daemon fighting in the Stepstones from Ep. 3 from the first season. There’s a bit of deviation from how it was written in the book, but I was satisfied enough. It’s a better translation than how Blood & Cheese was shown in the S2 opener. Why is Daemon wasting time in Harrenhal? It’s a shitty, haunted castle with bad plumbing. Has not raised an army since pretty much everyone around him are either useless, clueless, or plain scared to fight. The visions were pretty cool and I did enjoy that Alys Rivers interaction as well as Matt Smith dressed up as Aemond. Great to see Milly Alcock again and Nanna Blondell (Laena) back. When Daemon chopped Rhaenyra’s head, I was like WTF? Then she’s still talking. Made sense to show Laena again because she was Vhagar’s previous rider. MVPs of this episode are Rhaenys and Meleys, but also credit to Aemond and Vhagar. Team Green did win this round. I like the scene when Aemond was speaking High Valyrian using words like sobriquet and lickspittles. Showing how much smarter he is than Aegon. Aemond attempting to kill Aegon does deviate from the source material. I actually didn’t mind it only because how Aegon mocked him in last week’s episode. And it shows how ruthless Aemond is turning out to be. Aemond might actually be the MVP of this war so far, or at least Vhagar. I’m loving Aemond as I want him to be the evil little shit he is in the book. The more evil, the more entertaining. In the book, Rhaenys does get ambushed by Aemond but she gets burned to the crisp. TV version gave her a more heroic death scene and she falls from the sky after Vhagar chomps on Meley’s neck. And it’s true, Vhagar and Meleys did love each other. Remember, they’re both she-dragons. Their former riders were Viserys and Daemon’s parents. When Viserys and Daemon were babies, Alyssa used to take them on joy rides while riding Meleys. While Vhagar used to be ridden by Daemon’s daddy (Baelon) and second wife (Laena). I hope we see flashback scenes of Baelon and Alyssa when Daemon was still a child. In HOT D’s 1x6, we saw Vhagar and Caraxes flying side by side above Pentos. That scene will only make the Battle Above the Gods Eye sadder. A W for the Queen of All Dragons over the Red Queen. Next up, chomping on another red dragon and former boy pal, the noodle neck nicknamed Bloodwyrm. RIP Rhaenys and Meleys I always thought Meleys was the best designed dragon in this series. She’s up there with Drogon. Love her color and her face. Caraxes looks too weird to me but I do love his unique roar thanks to his deviated septum. My favorite designed dragon will likely be Balerion if HBO ever comes around and gives us a series about Aegon the Conqueror. I love Balerion’s design as much as any Godzilla design. Not a big fan of Vhagar’s design. Is this my favorite episode of House of the Dragon so far? Maybe. I need to rewatch it. I still have Driftmark as my personal favorite but I will say this episode is the best of the series. We wanted dragons fighting, we got it. This is really the beginning of the Dance where there are no accidental occurrences. Full intention is to kill the opposition. Rhaenys and Meleys had to be the first major casualties in this war. The Battle at Rook’s Rest is when the Dance of the Dragons really started. Grade: A I think my personal favorite will be the Season 2 finale. If you’re Team Green, this should be your favorite episode because Vhagar did kill Meleys with Rhaenys being courageous and strapping herself to her dragon. Team Green did win this battle. But S2 Ep. 8 is The Fall of King’s Landing. That should be Team Black’s favorite. Someone’s head is going to roll and I expect viewers will be cheering loudly. GOT S2 8. GOT S5 (this gets underrated a bit) 9. GOT S7 10. GOT S8 While Game of Thrones S1 and S2 were great, it didn’t get going until Blackwater near the end of S2. But budgets didn’t get bigger until S4. I thought S4 was the first year we got more action. GOT S1 episode budget: $6M HOT D S1 episode budget: $20M At it’s peak, Game of Thrones was the more exciting and arguably the better series. House of the Dragon is more Succession meets The Crown. But the first two seasons of HOT D seems to be more exciting than GOT’s first two seasons because we do get dragons right away, the bigger budgets, and the production crew being much smarter and wiser. I was almost giving up on House of the Dragon after last week’s episode, The Burning Mill, failed to impress on top of the controversial changes with Blood & Cheese that George R.R. Martin wasn’t happy about. Ready to put Andor above it. The problem with HOT D is it’s based from a book. Any slight deviation can piss off readers. Andor doesn’t rely on books as a source. It’s free to do anything. HOT D has higher preset expectations. August 4, 2024 can’t come soon enough. The Fall of King’s Landing is going to have so much cheering in the Burlington Bar since I’m aware a majority are Team Black. When I saw The Red Dragon and the Gold was written by showrunner, Ryan Condal, I knew this episode was in good hands. I hope Ryan wrote the S2 finale as he did write the S1 finale but also the S2 opener which some people felt was a bit lukewarm. The aftermath from Blood & Cheese was great though. Do people think House of the Dragon can lasts four seasons as GRRM claim it could? I originally thought Battle at Rook’s Rest would happen as the S2 finale but we got it as soon as Episode 4 or midway of S2. I think once the most important leads die in this series, it should end the series. Will people care to watch The Hour of the Wolf? Viewers may stop caring once this particular female character gets burned and eaten by Sunfyre. The war pretty much ends with Daemon vs. Aemond. Making Aemond more evil and having him killing another one of his kins and trying to kill his brother will make the Battle Above the Gods Eye even more satisfying. Rest in paradise to the Queen Who Never Was and the Red Queen! You will always be true queens to us! After HOT D’s Ep 4, my favs of the 2020s 1. Loki (2021-2023) 2. House of the Dragon (2022-Present) 3. Andor (2022-Present) All three are better than The Mandalorian and The Boys. Let’s hope HOT D wins an Emmy for this episode or for 2x8.

5:53 I think, by "heir" show means king's brothers, not his bastards. A bastard, even Targarien one, cannot inherit anything (that's why there was all this stuff about Strong boys), except by being legitimased by king himself, which Aegon probably didn't do and don't have any capacity of doing. So it's Aemond legitimate chance to inherit the throne.

Two dragons dying like that because of riders foolishness brings me to the lines what Viserys once said in season 1 to young Rhaeneyra...Sad to see Myeles die like that...Also it makes me sad to connect that Vhagar who killed Rhaneys was once rode by her own daughter😢

Rhaenys was sent to defend Rooks Rest from Coles army, they didn't think Aemond and Aegon would be there since that would leave Kl defenceless

Why didn’t they send a raven to Damon to join rook rest battle. If the blacks sent more dragons it would’ve been over. Vaghar wouldn’t been dead dead dead. 😂

Don't the Blacks have spies in Kingslanding? No one noticed that Vharga wasn't there? Why didn't she flee and get reinforcements from nearby Dragonstone? How could Vharga hide behind the castle? The Blacks are even more naive than the Starks in the original series. 😂

Also the sneak attack was bullshit lol ,they probably have no logical reason on how to kill them since they want to change it from the books. Rather than a 2v1, they make it so that Aemond incapacitated Aegon and somehow Meleys became slow 😂 (plot convenience since there's really no way meleys can't out maneuver vhagar 😂, if anything it should be Meleys sneak attacking vhagar 😂)

next thing that will happen is alicent starting to lose her shit for real mentally. kings landing will be closed off by order from fear of retaliation for rhaenys and meleys by rhaenyra and her forces she is beginning to rally. maybe closed off while they search for aegons bastards to off them in aegons state so aemond can stay protector of the realm and do as he wishes to an extent. its going to end with the next episode being certain of another battle, there are 3 more big battles and things that happen and can happen in the length of episodes for this season. the season will end at harrenhal.

I am Team Black, yet a have sympathy for Aegon because he was never prepared to take the throne. Otto, Alicent, his various uncles from Oldtown just let this guy drink his way through Kings Landing without oversight, consequences, or lessons. Aemond had the will of someone who could be King because he kept to his studies and trained. He was natural for the throne. Once Aegon started acting out, someone should have taken him underneath their mentorship. Aegon is but a simpering boy-king who is unfit-but he always knew this about himself and tried to live up to expectations despite his own misgivings. This does not excuse his behavior yet points to how so many failed him from the very beginning. Having said that, the person I blame most is Viserys. Next are Otto and Alicent. While Rhaenyra is imperfect, she never schemed against others (at least on the show). She tried to make her voice heard, but she had little support other than Daemon. These two are much alike, as Viserys once stated. I think that while Daemon wishes he was the heir, he would never turn against Rhaenyra despite his resentment.

So the Greens want to put Aegon's bastards on the throne ... The same hypocrites were complaining about rhaenyra's bastards😂😂😂

I don't know why people hate Aemomd... For me He is one of the top most characters in this show considering the pain he went through in childhood. And I'm eagerly waiting for his character in the next episodes.

People don't hate his story or his character, but he kinda is portrayed as the 'villain'. And people love to see a villain be brought to justice. I guess mainly people who didn't read the book want payback for Aemond's actions. People who read the books know whats up & are enjoying his character.

@@Serena_9 i didn't say Aemond IS a villain. I just said that (in the series) he is portrayed as one. Daemon is portrayed as a stubborn brother. Both made mistakes but Aemond's had a more negative impact on some likeable characters. So if people didn't read the books, they don't know what is coming (or jist simply forgot his backstory) & just see him as 'the villain'. Also, i think Rhaenyra would have been a great ruler & protector if she could have been on the throne the day after her father died. She does listen to her council & would let them plan their war strategy if needed. She just wants to try to solve this conflict before it goes to war after Viserys told her about Aegon's dream.
