This is the most stupid plot point in the whole show to be honest. - Rhaenyra's claim is her father named her heir when he was alive in front of the other lords. - Aegon's claim is by Andal, First Men, and Valyrian custom: being the first born son of the king and thus his heir. Feel free to support who you wish but Aegon's claim is NOT based on Viserys's last words, that does not matter at all and he would be crowned regardless of what Alicent "thought" she heard.

The fact they had Alys Rivers enter right when Simon Strong says "by the old gods" was so subtle and so teasing, and then Daemon's dream/vision/hallucination. The Harrenhal content was top class

Baela could see far but if you look from her POV you can see their armor and horse armor shining in the sun. Getting flashes from the armor as they moved. Really really cool to see, I caught it the 2nd time.

Brackens and Blackwoods have hated each other for so long it is almost a proverb. They were fighting over the markers over whose land is whose, and then over who is the correct ruler of the Seven Kingdoms. To be honest, if there was no dispute over who was the true king or queen, the two B and B families would have argued about the color of the grass and would have drawn swords. I wouldn't be surprised if there were straw effigies of the other House's ruler on each families' archery range.

The Lord Samwell Blackwood who was slain was the child from season 1 who tried to propose to Rhaenyra and then killed the dude that insulted him. The Blackwood kid in the beginning of this episode who said “you wouldn’t dare” is his son

No, his son is Benjicot Blackwood and we haven't been introduced to him yet, nor to his sister Alyssane. The guy who said "you wouldn't dare" is not mentioned in the book, but here... Apparently his name was Davos Blackwood.

Even if Rhaenyra and Alicent had made peace right then and there, it wouldn’t matter because there’s no way anyone else will want peace. There is no way Aemond will lay down his dragon willingly and nether with Aegon since he’s now all for a war. Daemon most certainly won’t want to keep a single member of team green alive either. At this point, it’s the point of no return and Alicent knows that. She’s dug herself into a hole she can’t get out of now and she has made her peace with that. Just so you know between Alicent and Helaena, Helaena forgives her mother for sleeping with Criston when her son was being killed. She’s so pure and kind. Her and Aemond are the only green members I like personally. You two can have your own opinions of course. Great reaction on tonight. Keep up the great work.

Alicent is saying it's too late because she has no power at that table anymore. Without her father there to back her and exert his very firm control over everyone, she can't get anything done. Criston has proven he doesn't need her patronage anymore, he's The Hand now and as the Dowager Queen Alicent doesn't have the kind of power she held when she was Queen. Aegon is riddled with Imposter Syndrome so he won't listen to anyone since he has this need to prove to everyone--and himself--that he is the rightful king and should be obeyed. That is why he was looking dumbfounded at his cronies who literally laughed in his face when he said they were sworn to chastity now that they are Kingsguard. And because he feels like a fraud, he makes fun of Aemond--who is taller, stronger, has a bigger dragon, and a better gift for military tactics--because he knows that Aemond can't do anything back to him since he's the king. Aemond is cold and aloof with Alicent because her focus has always been for Aegon, the first-born, and then Helaena because she's different. She has never given Aegon motherly attention, which is why he goes to get it from Selyse. Alicent has lost ANY chance to turn all this around, that"s why she feels it's too late

True, Alicent at this point in the championship no longer has as much control as before and she knows that, she even talks about it with Otto before he leaves, that Aegon doesn't listen to her, much less Aemond, and I believe that even Daemon wasn't going to calm down until he killed all of the Greens after everything he's already done. I believe that if she were the Queen like before, she could even change something, but now it's too late.

The Brackens and The Blackwoods are like The Hatfields and the McCoys of Westeros. This feud runs DEEP. Bloodraven was a Blackwood and the half-brother he fought with, Bitter Steel, was a Bracken. I wish GRRM would give us more lore about the feud because I bet its influenced the plot more than we know.

I'm so glad. I love Emma's and Olivia's portrayals (that final scene was breathtaking) but I also want to see more of Milly and Emily, maybe in flashbacks or dream sequences like this.

I think this may be the first time I've heard a character say "tell me what they said, exactly". It didn't change anything in the end, but it was refreshing to see a character not be stupid for the sake of manufactured drama, for once...

And quite frankly it's a very good character turn to have Alicent know without a doubt that it was a mistake and definitively press on ahead anyway. At this point it basically doesn't matter to her that it was based on a mistake, even if she could have stopped it herself. Robert's Rebellion was also based on a misunderstanding. Blood calls to blood.

I think Alys Rivers was giving the hallucinations to Daemon but the castle is definitely haunted. I've always loved everything to do with Harrenhal in the books, it's just so fascinating.

Alicent will eventually feel guilt and do something to help Team Black, wittingly or unwittingly. This little trip of Rhaenyra's will bear fruit, even though it doesn't look like it does anything now.

Its Not really a War for the person already on the Throne ..at this point Rhaenyra isnt doing anything but avoiding hiding at DragonStone avoiding hits and making Horrible decisions 😅

Remember not only Viserys meant Aegon the conqueror but more importantly he thought he was talking to Rhaenyra not Alicent during his last words (many reactors forget this crucial detail), he wouldn't tell the story of ice and fire to anyone but the chosen heir thus double confirming he wanted Rhaenyra to rule and pass down the story and the dagger to kill the night king to her heir. You need to rewatch that scene, it is the most important single moment in the whole show, everything revolves around that confusion.

Harrenhal is near what is called The Gods eye. A lake with an island called the Isle of Faces. Where the Weirwood trees are and the old Gods live. Fun fact, I found that Harrenhal was built on land where all the Weirwood trees were cut down. If you notice those tree roots are in the stone of the castle. Like the old Gods are reclaiming it.

Yes Alicent has a 4th kid with Viserys Daeron Targaryen

we gotta remember, Alicent's misunderstanding is something for her character only, even if she believed Rhaenyra was what Viserys wanted, Otto and the council already had it planned. Rhaenyra was always going to get usurped by the greens, whether Alicent wanted it to happen or not, the only thing she changed was not letting Otto assassinate her.

Otto had his plan for Aegon in place the day he was born. Alicent misunderstanding Vicerys had nothing to do with Aegon becoming king. Rhaenys told young Rhaenyra that she would be challenged after she was named heir. The queen that never was is the smartest and wisest in the show.Alicent is powerless to stop the war.

The end of this episode is the moment when Rhaenyra realises she's *right* to go to war. All this time, she's worried that her father *did* change his mind and that she's been wrong. But in that conversation with Alicent, she gets the truth - her father stuck by his decision until the end of his days... and now, she'll go to war to uphold his decision.

I'm looking forward to seeing the battle in the next episode and to see if they remain true to who dies from the book, it should be a really good episode

Too many people have died to stop the war at this point and not enough have yet to die to end the war.

Daemon is the equivalent of Queen Aemma, Alicent and Halaena. They are Queen's by title but hold no official power over the realm. They only share their husbands title and rank out of curtesy to their marriage. The wife of a King is always a Queen and is addressed as "Your Grace" the same as their husbands. Typically there is no such thing as a King Consort because it's always been men who rule, and a King outranks a Queen, which is why Daemon is styled as a King Consort, to identify him as the rulers spouse and not the ruler themselves.
