    The fact that a woman directed this episode and that scene makes sense because it was HOT and sexy. Not vile, disgusting or demeaning. I’ve played that scene multiple times since.

    @idrockmusic I noticed, the spiciness behind...it actually reminded me a little of the Dothraki females...yes they were seen as 2nd class apart from the Dosh Kaleen, but they had the right to basic, open, almost animalistic sex and take pleasure in it. As Dany pointed out to Missandei in S3 GoT. And the dragon, is a kind of metaphor for sex and/or violence with the Targaryans, as pointed out by Alicent, "You Targaryans have some strange customs". AND Viserys 1 in this show talking about the chaotic restlessnes of the dragon that Daemon and Rhaenyra share. In GoT, Viserys 11, with Doreah, (and hints of sa of him with Dany), relates "wakening the dragon with sex and violenve too. But the Brothel scene in this, I noticed several females sounding and looking more as if they eere enjoying it, rather than the fake illusions in the GoT brothels. Especially with the one threesome with one female and 2 males, which even a few years ago would still have seemed odd to todays pop culture, so I think when I re watched it, that it was somewhat different. And of course, the juxtaposition with the sexually charged brothel scene, with the "lie back and think of England", or duty, of Alicent and Viserys, also was seen through a female gaze, looking down on Alicent's expression. And then add in the mischievious, playful Rhaenyra and Criston, was so tender and sweet like girls like to imagime ot would be, (can be), when they are adolescents/ young women who are still virgins. At the climax it was Rhaenyras face we saw, with her wonderous and satisfied experience.

    I think that Alicent was mad at Rhaenyra not only because she might have ruined her reputation and compromised her chances of getting married. She was hurt that her friend got a chance to take control over her sexuality, whilst Alicent has never been able to do that being forced into marriage with an older man and having to adhere to her marital duties. Pleasure was never in the equation for her.

  • @mathg-3270

    @mathg-3270

    Жыл бұрын

    I think that Alicent was profundly hurt to learn that Rhaenyra, who is supposed to be the next to sit on the Iron Throne, wouldn't put honor and duty above everything else. I think that Alicent truly believes that Rhaenyra would make a good queen, despite what her father says. Alicent seems to be really different from Rhaenyra : she puts family and duty above everything else, even if it means sacrificing the life she would've preferred. And clearly, she doesn't understand that Rhaenyra isn't able to do the same sacrifice given that she's to be the Queen. Alicent seems completely shaken by the news of her night excursion in a brothel, and I don't think it's because of jealousy over Rhaenyra's taking control of her sexuality. But she still has faith in Rhaenyra and chooses to believe her, attributing this episode to Daemon. So I think the final blow which will make her choose to defend her children over Rhaenyra for the succession will be when Criston cole (I guess that will be him) will reveal her that Rhaenyra completely lied about what happened that night. I think this will definitely break the trust Alicent had in Rhaenyra.

I think daemon really have a feelings for her, he just didn’t want to admit because He didnt’ Care or something stopping him.. Let’s just wait and watch and be sinner lol 🤣

    Yes but once he’d stopped he left her right in a dangerous place, fleabottom and kings landing in general is so incredibly dangerous, he was lucky Rhaenyra didn’t come back unharmed or even dead - there was a high chance she could’ve. Daemon was the commander of the city watch, he knows this and sees the dangers and cruelty happening and his job to prevent it and protect the smallfolk, so why would he just leave Rhaenyra alone when he knows it’s completely possible for her to get hurt, not to mention where exactly he left her in. He wasn’t protecting her, regardless if he stopped or not - he still took her there and practically had the intention to do it, and then he just abandoned her.

    Daemon abuses Rhaenyra because asides from the uncle thing, he is much older and the power dynamic is off, she's on the street under his care and is much younger. She doesn't know really how badly Daemon is treating her. then Rhaenyra abuses Cole because can he really say no? She could get him killed, he is in a really awkward position because she holds all the cards there, she abuses Cole in the same way Daemon abuses her.

    While I’m not denying there was definite manipulation (at the start of the scene at least) on Daemon’s part, I wouldn’t say it was abuse. Abuse implies harm to one or more people or performing an act that could not be stopped, and like one of the other replies explains, we’ve CLEARLY seen that she can stand up to him. In fact, she’s about the only one in her whole FAMILY that can and will stand up to him and he’ll listen to her. And power wise, they’re pretty equal if not more power towards Rhaenyra because she’s the princess and has that title. Her word has more power in King’s Landing than Daemon’s does. As far as Ser Criston goes, it’s clear from episode four that, while she’s a great character, Rhaenyra doesn’t always understand the power her position entails and is unaware of the struggles of other people. She is caught up in the moment with him and I agree, shouldn’t have slept with him because it will put him in some serious danger. However, he could have easily said no. She gave him ample time to leave and he didn’t.

    I'm not sure I understand Daemon's logic behind "getting at his brother". He's risked his niece's reputation and got himself banished, again, this time with worse consequences. Congrats, I guess? If it was to get rid of Otto, then it makes more sense, but still, that was played out by Rhaenyra, not him, and the consequences are a bit too harsh for that goal. It won't make him Hand of the King, if that is what he supposedly wanted to achieve. From all points of view, the situation is worse than it was. I think I'm the only person so far that really dislikes his character. I mean, the actor is amazing, but Daemon himself is not a good person by far and by far is doing really mean things to his, supposedly, "loved ones".
