Daemon has been doing awful shit for a while and Rhaenyra has been either okay with it, suportive of it or at the very least, she simply looks the other way... So while I'm also team black, let's not pretend the blacks are innocent or that Rhaenyra is... Much of the fault of this current situation falls on Rhaenyra for her actions thru the years (obviously with all the other fault that goes for other people like Viserys, Otto, Alicent and such)... And Daemon, with all his his bad deeds, is not only on her team, he is her #1... Her husband/king/general/closest confidant... So no, we don't get to separate them if we also lump all of the "members" of team green together

The girl who saw Blood was one of Loris' selected workers, therefore she didn't know who the rat catcher was. Loris changing the staff, and Cole not being at his post, led to Blood and Cheese killing that boy.

Blood and cheese weren’t idiots. When cheese asked daemon that what if they don’t find Aemon, the scene got cut but later blood says that he(Daemon) said a son for a son so first target was Aemon but if not found then the heir which they did exactly that. However in the books, Aemon was never a target for blood and cheese. The target was the kid and this all happened much crazier in the books.

it was better than any season 1 episode that's for sure, the writing was still a little brittle though , not to mention, the last scene was changed and made less iconic ( aka the way it was written was supposed to be a red wedding type of situation, filled with tension and agony, but yeah , it will be forgotten

What a lot of people miss -- what I missed, too, on the first time through the episode -- is that when Daemon hires these two, they ask him, "What do we do if we can't find him?" It's a very very brief thing, but the camera sits on Daemon for just a few seconds he gives a very tiny smirk, then the camera cuts away. So offscreen, it seems like he told them that if they couldn't get to Aemond, then Aegon's son would do...a son for a son. But in striking out in this way, Daemon has fired the 2nd shot of the war, and it's going to be ON now, without a doubt.

@@meganmendoza468 there are people on twitter defending Daemon on this. Blood and cheese wouldn't have been able to kill Aemond if they found him. The statement " A son for a son" is very vague. It could mean either Aemond or Aegon's son. Daemon left it open to interpretation from what we can see, so he should have clarified. The order wasn't clear enough for blood and cheese. Rhaenyra said " I want Aemond Targaren". That is extremely specific, even though she doesn't say if she wants him dead or alive. Whether Daemon ordered them to kill Aegon's son or not, he still sent them, so it is his fault no matter what.

I FLEW HERE😭 what an opening episode. Fuck Blood and Cheese, Aemond, Daemon, Alicent, Criston and Otto! Helaena deserved better and my boys Jaehaerys and Lucerys deserved to have full lives🗣️

In the book Blood and Cheese were way worse. This was tame compared to it. it also had all 3 of her kids in it. They had infiltrated the room. Blood grabs the oldest son (Prince Jaehaerys), while Cheese grabs the youngest son (Prince Maelor). They proceed to ask her which son she wanted to keep, and threaten to kill everyone in the room if she screamed. She tried pleading with them, and they threatedn to grape her daughter if she didn't pick. She ended up picking Maelor for them to kill because he was the youngest and was too young to understand what was happening to him. They ended up killing Jaehaerys instead, and cheese told Maleor that he needs to remember that him mother wanted him dead. Before anyone start coming for me, I was just referenceing the book. I didn't say I didn't like what the showrunners did. I understand whhy they did it the way they did, ecpecially because of the depiction of harming children on screen. I've had people come for me thinking I'm a book purist when i'm just stating what happened.

Someone pointed out Rhaenyra only spoke four words the whole episode: "I want Aemond Targaryen." Says a lot that she was in so many scenes and it was just pure grief on screen.

Blood and Cheese is way more traumatic in the book, they forced Halaena to choose between two sons and then kill the one she wanted to save---While they were awake.

I like this guy with spider man on his shirt he gets it That's Aegon's heir they hit him hard, the king is gonna feel it 😅

After rewatching the episode and considering the title of the episode, A Son For A Son, I'm almost 100% sure it means the sons are the DIRECT sons of the one's on the respective thrones ...Rhaenera lost Luke so Daemon wants them to take out Aegon's son IF they can't find/take out Aemond ...thoughts?!!

This portion of martin's story is called Blood and Cheese, named after the assassins. In the original story, the mother is forced to choose between two SONS, and she chooses the death of the older child, thinking the younger is too young to remember the trauma. the assassins choose the other and inflict trauma on the remaining child. and he knows his mother chose him for death. so it's a double screw. also, in the show, there was a cutaway from daemon's face when he was asked what should they do if they can't find Aemond. so did Daemon tell them to get a son, any son? you decide....

If they cant get the guy they showed up for and they had to delete someone they should have deleted all three of them for efficiency...

Did Blood and Cheese were confused between the Queen and the Queen Dowager ? I supposed they are not refined enough to make a distinction between the two. Plus the need to act quickly could have been a part of their hasty decision. This scene exists also in the book but it’s a second son of Aemon who is killed. Plus they did it in Aliscent’s rooms after they tied and gag her waiting for her daughter to come as is her routine to make her kids bid their good night. Aliscent and Cole relationship is not even a thing in the book. Which means they write this for audiences interest only.

Just watched the episode yesterday and I gotta say I was a little disappointed they didn't begin the episode with Rhaenyra right where it ended last season. I really wanted to see her reaction right after she was told about her son being killed by the hand of Aemon, and they didn't show it. Other than that I loved the way it started off. My heart went out for little Lucerys again. I cried 😩

31:45 “Even at the funeral.. when they were showing both sides of it… it was almost like [Alicent] was lighting the candle for him too..” She did. Alicent eventually lit the candle and spoke his name, Lucerys Velaryon. Best sequence of the episode imo.

Remember this we got a toned down version of blood n cheese. This still was shocking tho but my man if u yall read the books. The blood n cheese part was way worse. They asked Daemon what if they can't find Aemond - they didn't show Daemon answering... so for all we know he could've said the heir..
